At least we'll be treated to more scenes with Mark Hamill!

Is it Hamill doing the dialogue though and not the guy that did the voice work for Origins?

If it is indeed Hamill doing the Joker here, they did a pretty good job keeping it wrapped up until the week before.

I certainly don't play videogames for a story, just for the action, not like there are any to begin with. Movies can barely create a great story, what chances do videogame companies have at crafting one.

I would take a game with great action and crappy story over any game with a great story and mediocre action.

Who the heck wants to play Dr. Zhivago the game! :lol

Then there's MGS, what a convoluted mess.

If Last of Us is the best videogame companies can do, they have a long way to go before anyone will take videogames seriously in the story/writing department.

I just want to blow **** up.

C'mon, are you really going to tell me that some game out there should've been nominated for an oscar. Was it a Zelda game?

:lol

You make it sound as if the Oscars have been nominating the wrong medium.

There's nothing wrong with just wanting to be Batman playing detective and doing round house kicks you know.

Judging by each new leak, Joker does end up making a physical appearance when it's all said and done. Dat Hushhh:lol

Rocksteady just couldn't resist. I could see just having hallucinations sprinkled in (even though it makes no sense for Batman to feel bad about the Joker. I mean what the ****, he views Joker in the same light as his parents?!? It should have been good riddance). But they're really going out of their way to give Joker a presence. I bet we see a Joker advertisement poster before Wed. :lol If they had any balls, they wouldn't have had a trailer for him getting cremated, no opening including him, no ghosts, hallucinations, visions or come backs. Just abandon the character.

Also, pretty big spoiler, this guy is confirmed,

This game is jam packed with characters. I don't expect the story to make much sense.

Wait, aren't you the same guy that's didn't like that TDKR made ZERO direct reference to the Joker? But it would have been ballsy for AK to completely ignore him?

I will say this, if you like Burton Batman, well, the Arkham games are a better Batman movies that that, in every way.

And yes, The last of us should get an Oscar.

So should Metal Gear Solid, at least the 1st one and 3rd one.

Also, early Silent Hill games have better stories than most Horror movies.

There are many examples, are you currently possessed by the spirit of Roger Ebert or something?

Dude, wat?
:exactly::lecture:goodpost:

Both, and more.

People are saying there were three leaked videos floating around (one of which has the screen caps above). In the beginning and mid of the game, Joker appears to the player as a "ghost"/hallucination because of Batman's guilt. He shows up at several missions and key areas, talking to Batman. Sometimes he appears on the streets, which makes you think he's still around, and other times he'll show up chilling at Wayne Enterprises lounging in the background as you talk to Fox and get weapon upgrades. In two cases, when the player goes to turn and have Batman face the Joker after hearing his dialogue, he disappears. Joker is also prominent in a Scarecrow fear toxin sequence during one of the missions of the game.

In addition to Man-Bat being confirmed, people are saying that the Joker is in a major sequence involving Batman appearing to be unmasked to the city, Scarecrow, Arkham Knight, Gordon and Knightwing. There are claims that this gameplay has been leaked (along with a Two-Face/Penguin mission), but it was taken down with the account banned.

People are saying that there are screencaps of Man-Bat and the described sequence floating around, but I can't find them.

EDIT:

Up, more caps. One is supposedly an in-game sequence.

I guess in some parts he's not even disappearing when you look at him. He's the clean, healthy version model. He only vanishes when he's the sick/dead one.

Stop it.....

Sigh.....

Good bye, thread.

Any of the Uncharted games could make a good movie. All of the Assassin's Creed games were movie-quality in their storytelling, too (and there's a film being produced with Fassbender in the lead role). There's even so much in the Halo universe that could be used for a Hollywood production. So yeah, like Gaspar said, there are lots of examples, where video games shine in storytelling :lol.

And just recently, we were even treated to Alien: Isolation. Don't tell me that couldn't have made a great movie! (with the sneaking bits removed, of course) :lecture

Ha The Big Lebowski game. Best comedy of all time. AND sequel-less. They'll never be a sequel so it's safe as is for all time :)

I agree with both of you actually. I can see where Jye is coming from, I don't think there has been one game created that has been Oscar worthy, but I don't blame that on the quality of the stories, but more so the character performances in these games haven't been able to pull of performances like a great actor could. I think there has been plenty of awesomely written games but of course the voice acting has never been up to par with the acting of a live action movie. Metal Gear Solid 1 is my favorite game of all time, and Hayter did a great job for a video game, but that kind of dialogue and acting would never fly in a movie. Naughty Dawg has come the closest to bridging that gap between both mediums but the story in their games have never been the strongest, their attention to detail, character development, and mocap/voice acting performances is really where they excel at. I have quite a few issues with Last of Us's story. I will say this though, I think Uncharted 2 is better than The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in every way possible, even in the acting department :lol

I do agree with Gaspar that the Arkham games are better than the Burton Batman films in every possible way except for the acting and it's not that far behind in that department either :lol

Wait, aren't you the same guy that's didn't like that TDKR made ZERO direct reference to the Joker? But it would have been ballsy for AK to completely ignore him?

Yeah, it's not hypocritical.

- Ledger Joker didn't "die" in TDKR
- Ledger Joker didn't have a decades long, 3 game story and comics career
- in Nolan's world, Joker was the catalyst to all the events that transpired
- in Nolan's world, Joker was the only super villain before TDKR, there weren't dozens and dozens of villains like these video games

Possible spoilers down below, dunno what I did wrong Franny, I've tagged everything I have found so people aren't spoiled.

Plus, my post was in response to people saying that Rocksteady would never think of including the Joker in this game, that he was done, kaput, and that if they did give in, it would be in bad taste. I actually don't mind that he's back, in fact I expected this. Look back a couple of pages. All I'm saying is to the people that swore up and down that Joker wouldn't be back because Rocksteady said so, well, here he is in multiple forms. I can I understand why people thought the Joker wouldn't be on this one, the creators straight up said "he's not going to be in this one, he's gone" but this wouldn't be the first time a company, studio, actor, director, etc. lie about a spoiler. I was just saying, if Rocksteady was going to do something ballsy like that and abide by what they said, then they should do so. Same deal with Arkham Knight. More and more people are coming forward with rumors of his identity (which has yet to be proven obviously) and it certainly isn't a "character that's never been in any medium before" like they had claimed.
