No thanks. :wave Batman's appeal is that he can be the everyman. He's the only human among super-powered beings. What you described is more in line with what Bay's doing to TMNT. :monkey4

Agreed. That would be damn horrible.

The worst thing in the comics for me is Ra's and the Lazarus pit crap. I cannot stand those stories. They just dont feel like Batman. I hate it. Neeson's Ras is the only interpretation I like because its nothing like the comics.

I hate the supernatural/other worldly Batman crap. I dont mind the fear or toxin induced hallucinations, but otherwise, anything supernatural with Batman is an instant turn off for me.

I dont mind ghostly revelations from time to time, like in haunted Knight. I find them sort of things interesting sometimes if done right and has a message for Bruce with a reason and then he suddenly wakes up. Call it, soul searching or an inwards reflection. I like that.

But yeah, it would be a horrible interpretation of Batman. The whole appeal to me is that he is a human among superheroes. Even the villains arent supervillains apart from Clayface and Croc, arguably Bane too. But i want more of his detective side to show through. I love what we saw in TDK, and TDKR I expected more of it but then I imagined a totally different film to what we got.

How? I never said to make him supernatural, but to make it appear as though he is. Batman's appeal is that he's just a man, but the criminals don't know that, nor should they. If they know that he is just a man, they know that he can be killed. Even in Begins, Wayne says that he needs to make himself a symbol for his enemies to fear.

I am amazed that you would compare what I'm saying to Bay's TMNT, and, quite frankly, I'm offended that you would think so little of me to compare me to that hack.:lol All I'm saying is that Batman has always said that criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot. However, he never said they were stupid. I think that Batman would want to keep that "mystique" about him, and that window (you know, the part of his cowl that shows his face?) would be reserved for friends and allies; letting them know that he is still a man. The criminals would know nothing more than his shadow.

To hell with all the "hocus pocus" garbage, Batman's not Scooby Doo. :lol It's entirely unnecessary. I say give us a straight-up detective story where the police are too baffled and too overwhelmed so they call in Batman and the trail leads to a significant Rogue with henchmen being beat up along the way. Hell, throw in a red herring Rogue for the hell of it. Leave the smoke bombs, the glowy demon eyes and the spooky crap for the cartoons.

Where are you coming from with this ____? Where did I ever say anything of the sort? All that I said is that it would be cool to see him operate in a manner which kept "what" he is a mystery to his opponents. I don't know where you're getting this stuff about make believe magic or anything else; never did I say to give him super powers or anything "otherworldly". :huh :cuckoo:

I'm with Nam. That's the main reason why I loved Nolan's series so much. More of Bruce Wayne. Less of wacky Batman. Getting to know the man, made Batman far more interesting.

Again, though, I never said anything about eliminatting Bruce Wayne from the equation, I just think that, for the Batman parts, it'd be cool to see a Batman who was able to defeat these guys without them even having an idea of what he looks like. If anything, those kinds of quick, efficient fight scenes would free up more time to delve into the other aspects of the character (Bruce Wayne, the detective, etc.).

You were talking about demons and glowing eyes and smokebombs and shadow people. That's all crap. Just gimme a dude wearing a Batman suit with Sherlock Holmes level skills that uses his brain. That's Batman.

So you want more Nolan's Batman like me :lecture

Nolan's Wayne Batman was all but incompetent as far as detective skills went. :lol

Where that came from? He was a really good detective. When Bruce came back from his training with Ra's. He took his time to investigate everything about Rachel, Jim Gordon, the other fat cop (Flass?).. he investigate everyting about Falcone, he was able to find evidence for the drugs stuff and give it to Rachel.. I'm not sure what else do you want.

On TDK, he was able to rebuild a bullet and find a fingerprint, of the Joker's thug... that was pretty impressive...

:nono BB he's clueless of LoS's involvement. TDK he had the computer rebuild the bullet. But couldn't figure out the Joker's scheme. TDKR he gets even worse with Bane, Talia, etc. No need to get into it since there are literally pages upon pages of DiFabio pointing it out. :lol

The only "detective" moment in any of the films, for me anyway, was when Batman was pulling the bullet out of the wall and made the comment about the cops polluting the scene. And that wasn't much of him being a detective per say, but something a detective would say to a beat cop.

Did you just skim my post? I was talking about how that is how I would want him to be seen by the audience (so that they could get an idea of how the criminals see him). Plenty of time for our regular Batman during his rooftop rendezvous with Gordon, and, as I said, detective scenes.

I think you're losing the point here. Nolan's Bruce Wayne was a good detective with what he wanted to investigate. There were absolutely no chance Bruce knew or even suspect anything about Ra's or the Joker. The Joker was actually pretty unpredictable. About Miranda I'll give you the reason on why bruce did knew so little about her if they were business partners? .. But then I remember he was retired of anything, he probably leave all the Wayne enterprise stuffs to Fox .

Anyway, maybe I ask too little for the "detective Batman" or you're asking too much.. :dunno

Not really. You're mistaking using expensive machines as detective work. :lol

So Batman is supposed to reconstruct a bullet by hand and then use his magic skills to know the fingerprint?

Seriously do you read the comics at all from the past 20 years? Remember the 'bat computer?' The super computer which has every single thing possible for bruce to analyse?

I mean, technology and the bat computer has become so sophisticated that Batman just puts a DNA trace into it and it does all the detective work for him. thats the point of the bat computer; its a powerhouse of knowledge. Bruce points it in a direction, the computer does the work.

I mean from BTAS, for research, all Bruce had to do was choose a year, choose a month, and news paper articles were there to browse. He didnt need to scour year after year. Nowdays, he has the internet databses to browse, programmes which automatically do everything he needs them to do for him.

I mean, Batman Inc created a whole new crime laboratory with almost all the stuff which Bruce has in the Batcomputer, all state of the art yet the GCPD dont even use it.

The only detective work Batman can really do is on the ground, like in TDK. Taking the bullet out of the wall, choosing which one looks most like the impact into the brick, then letting the computer do its job. Similarly to what police officers have close relatives in the hospital; Alfreds on the end of the line putting it into the computer system. you dont expect him to get a big book of records and spend hours looking at whos in the hospital admissions do you? No. Computers have taken over everything and Batman of modern times in the comics have moved along with technology; gone is the days of studying old files and spending hours looking for something, digital copies and search functions have closed the time down drastically.

I mean, look at Arkham games; Detective mode which is directly linked to the Batcomputer an Barbs or Alfred, does everything for him. So in your eyes, thats not being a detective then?

Did you ever read the comics? I don't think you did. All that stuff is limited to a single panel while the rest are him doing ACTUAL footwork. Nolan's films were mostly the opposite.
