I genuinely think the Suicide Squad trailer is a lot more interesting than this.
That comment really does illustrate how different people see and judge things differently.
I saw that shot of the people on top of the roof and I thought, that is just ****ing idiotic, they are about to die and not only do they draw an 'S' on the roof but they paint it correctly with the right graphic flourishes and tails. To make sure it's a proper Hope logo. It's just dumb as hell, and it absolutely stinks of all the same ponderous nerdisms that Synder filled MOS with.
Likewise the red scrawled newspaper cutout that Affleck holds. It's so cheesy, with it's scrawly art directed red text. It's just so juvenile.
One thing that did surprise me with the trailer was how poor some of the VFX were. Given that this film has taken longer to make than the Pyramids of Giza, I really thought every frame would look incredible.
this movie is truly doomed no matter how good it is.
Oh yes, the "hate" goes beyond anything logical at this point. People are just looking for the silliest and most irrelevant thing to complain and criticize. It has more to do with Snyder than anything else, imo. Like you said, even if it's a good movie, people will give the credit to Affleck and his writer.
Things are always perfect in movies though.
Remember how Gordon ended up making a perfectly designed bat logo for the Batsignal at the end of Batman Begins that matched the brand logo? Who designed the Joker logo for all of the leather jackets on the Joker's thugs in Batman 1989? Why was the Riddler's riddles so perfectly intricate and well designed in Batman Forever? The Joker's graffiti and "ha ha has" looked professionally done like a graphic designer did them after making the perfect calligraphy font.
Who cares.
S is drawn too well. Cancelled.
Those survivors might not speak ze english...
I remember looking at the Death of Superman comic in the 90s. I might be remembering this wrong, but I recall a little black kid spray painting a huge "S" in neon paint to get Superman's attention for help. This scene with the flood victims reminds me of that. I dig it. I like the imagery of it.
Yeah, the trailer has some crappy things in it like the obvious CGI Batman and Superman action bits, or the annoying desaturation of some scenes or friggin' Jesse Eisenberg in that awful wig saying weird **** about red capes. Natural disaster victims looking for Superman's help in a melodramatic way though? Seems fine to me. It's a good trailer that shows the dichotomy between Batman and Superman and their two worlds (Gotham/Metropolis, dark/light, Alfred/Ma Kent). The chalked out "S" symbol is like Batman pulling the cover off the Batsignal to get Superman's attention. It's a nice mirror of scenes. I like it.
Right now my worry is shoddy CGI, ugly looking scenes, and the movie being overstuffed with the likes of pointless characters like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the big bad discussed in that synopsis, not Batman and Superman. There's more to like in this trailer than there is to dislike in my opinion.
Anyone know how long the movie is?
