You're way off base. I'm not talking about adapting a specific comic, I'm talking about retreading a plot point we've seen already in multiple superhero movies. One that isn't interesting. He still hasn't embraced being Superman, so when the credits role, your left not only questioning just how heroic this guy actually is or even if you should be rooting for him, but just with a general sense of depression. If Superman can't straighten his life out and even get a happy ending, was the movie fun? Debatable. And shouldn't a comic book movie about the greatest hero ever leave you with some sense of optimism? That in and of itself is a problem when you're talking about Superman specifically. The general public feels that way as well, which is why they voted with their money and went and saw Iron Man 3 and Thor instead. Superman only out-grossed "C-Lister" Thor : The Dark World by 20 million. When Superman isn't a box office draw in the age of comic movies, you did something wrong, period. I get that it was setting up the next thing, Marvel does that too, but you still have to give your character a little victory moment. Batman goes to france and finally loses his virginity, Spiderman gets over his dead gf etc. Superman, cries and destroys more stuff. eh. Do I like him? I don't know yet. Do I like that first movie? Nope.

Sorry bud, just point to the comic character you want for breakfast.

While Iron Man made more money than Man of Steel, it didn’t resonate with fans as much as MOS did. I hated both movies but I believe I read on multiple news sites that MOS was voted the best superhero movie of 2013.

Iron Man 3 would have made more money than a perfect Superman film that everyone loved because it was coming straight off the critically acclaimed Avengers, and it of course was the third movie in the successful Iron Man series.

MOS making more money than TDW is actually impressive considering TDW was also coming off the Avengers hype, and was a sequel to the well received Thor. Those statistics actually make me believe MOS didn’t so as bad as some people say, when you put all that into perspective.

I get the point, but like you the writing makes no sense. Clark would have exposed himself to save someone, particularly someone he loved. His dad acting suicidal is also a little tough to swallow, but not so much as Clark's behaviour.

Sorry jpuli28! That's a typo. Should read "...but like you say, the writing makes no sense." :slap

Dunno i did not feel nor the people i saw the film with Depressed (especially not with the Welcome to the planet), i was interested where they were going next, by the road he will have to take to become Superman. Now yes the movie was not Fun, its was not popcorn fun, dont thing thats what they were aiming at. Now again i dont think that SUperman should be like this or like that, i like that Snyder did what HE wanted to do not what he SHOULD do to please the fans of the high and mighty Superman.
The fact that i was not into the comicbook craze probably helped too.
The general public went and they will go to see the next one, if you wanna compare numbers go ahead have fun but in the end Superman is back on the map and people will go and see him in theatre and not just a few.
Illike the movie even if its more than flawed, i agree with most of the complains about it but the movie worked on me yet, when i read some of the post its like it was a complete failure and bomb at the box office that nobody went to see.
To not like a movie ok fine by me but this is just ridiculous :)
