In America is there only PG-13 then an R-rating? There's no in between?

In the UK we have U, 12A, 15 then an 18. Deadpool was a 15. An 18 would have to be a dark movie or have way note nudity

G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, X

R rated means kids can see it with a guardian, NC-17 means they aren't allowed in the theater at all unless they are over 17.

movies also used to be a little harder in the 80s and 90s, before 9/11

Here in Mexico we only have A, B and C classifications.

A is for all public, B is parental guidance and C is adults only.

Funny enough, Deadpool was classified B over here, there were a couple kids in my screening :lol

I'm guessing the films have subtitles over there? If so, it must be difficult to translate some of the jokes. That's why I hate subtitles...things get lost in translation.

NC-17 took the place of X, which was never a rating used by the MPAA. Since the MPAA's existence, if the X was applied to a movie, it was self-applied by the studio/filmmaker.

The X rating WAS used by the MPAA. On that point you are wrong. You are right that the X rating was also self applied in some cases and by the **** industry for marketing purposes.

How many times could you watch the same movie?

you know some weirdo is going to go see it EVERY single DAY just to be able to claim that title and probably get some nerd fame...
i can even picture someone making vids to upload about it every day

Yeah, I don't know how accurate they were, although people were laughing all the same, I don't pay attention to subtitles, but subtitles are usually accurate over here, what absolutely sucks is having movies dubbed, the closest theater to home only screens movies dubbed, I want to go on a murderous rampage every time I see the billboard. I have to drive a bit to go to may favorite theater.

But yeah, since most of the ugly stuff were the dirty jokes, not the gore, and that stuff goes over kids' heads.

Sorry, but that's not correct. MPAA does not give out X ratings. If you have something that proves different, please show me, I'd be very interested in seeing it.

If you don't believe me, here is a story about Rob Zombies most recent movie nd his difficulty getting an R rating...

Rob Zombie'''s New Movie '''31''' Finally Gets '''R''' Rating - Blabbermouth.net

I included the link because it states that the X rating is not official.

You are correct, the MPAA does not give out X ratings. Anymore... They did give out X ratings in the past. Clockwork Orange and Midnight Cowboy. The filmmakers were told why these films were rated X and given the chance to re-edit them to get an R rating. If they chose not to... the X rating stood. Because the X rating was not trademarked filmmakers could self impose the X rating for whatever reason they wanted to ie marketing etc.

The MPAA absolutely rated some movies X. Go to wikipedia and read about the MPAA.
