Terrible article. Can't stand Faraci.

I'll take MOS over Donner's films any day of the week.

*If Snyder [surprisingly] gets booted off JLA I won't lose sleep. I liked what he brought to the table.

Not a terrible article and actually accurate but you can not like it all you want. I will take the Superman 1 and 2 over MOS any day of the week. Emo Superman just isn't Superman.

Emo Superman just isn't Superman.

You just summed up everything that's wrong with critics today.

You're saying Superman can't show any pathos. That his role in any medium is to be light and happy. If he isn't vanilla then "he's not Superman." That's nonsense.

Superman, like any other superhero, should have the ability to go through **** and be explored in a more cerebral way.

Snyder deserves praise for giving us that version of Superman instead of the romanticized bullcrap all these middle-aged critics grew up with and wish to jam down our throats.

Next up Superman goes to group therapy and goes on Zoloft.

Frodo had the weight of the world on his shoulders and got depressed. Was he a sucky hero too? I get that Cavill's Superman is different than Reeves. And I get that you can prefer one over the other. But different /= hated by the director and different /= unheroic or uninspiring.

He was sad, mopey and depressing. Jackson was clearly trying to kill the character.

Hmmmm......let me see....was that a huge deviation from 75 years of Frodoness? Just waiting for a character like the Punisher to get turned into a domesticated house husband and all the same people will be shouting...that's not the character!!!!

Then complain that Cavill is different and too "Frodo-like" and quit whining about Zack Snyder hating the character and wanting him dead. That's just silly. Funny that with in just one live-action step Batman can go from the cheery wouldn't-hurt-a-fly Adam West to savors-his-kills-Keaton and not once did anyone get up in arms that Burton "had comtempt for Batman and wanted to get rid of him" but when Snyder makes a more physical Superman that was largely in response to *public complaints* about the softness of Routh suddenly he's this marked man trying to tear down some beloved religious icon.

Captain America is NOT "light and happy" all the time, There are times where captain America is frustrated or even angry, YET it never goes as dark as This superman goes as far as the acting goes. Cap always keeps up hope, no matter what. He doesn't fight because of a girlfriend or anything like that, but because it is the right thing to do

This superman feels like life is already a complete burden and if it wasn't for Lois or his mom he would have probably given up like Dr Manhattan, Like I said Earlier, this Superman made me think of someone that would probably end up reaching Dr Manhattan type of mentality after a while.

I did feel parallels to Manhattan, Not just because he directed both movies but this superman made me feel like he could end up like Comic Dr Manhattan. Eventually, if he did not have Lois I could see him abandoning Earth if his mom was not there or something.

I did not see any exploration in this superman, I think you are wrong. I never see him be truly happy or even smiling except when he is with Lois, Which is wrong because while he should not be light and cheery all the time, Lois should NOT be the only reason he finds any happiness in his life.
Every single promo he looks like a serial killer... Some people even thought this movie was going to have a bizzaro Superman because of the way he looks in the posters.... (I remember some people thinking there was going to be a twist with adding Bizarro)

Why would I complain about Cavill, he is acting out what is given to him and why do I care about Frodo, you brought him into it. You quit whining about my opinions. See how that works.

Pretty much sums it up for me. Superman and the damage done.
Superman And The Damage Done | Birth.Movies.Death.

I usually don't agree with that guy, but he made some good points. I liked Superman in MOS, but in BVS he's not Superman...he's not even the same guy from MOS, which wasn't the familiar Superman either, but he was at least likable and had potential to be good.

I don't agree that Snyder wants to destroy the character, he just doesn't get it...he just thinks that having him floating in the air like some kind of divine figure makes him Superman. :dunno

One of the good point he made, which I never thought about, is how he just leaves Washington after the explosion....he doesn't say anything...he doesn't address the people, offer any words of hope or words of comfort and wisdom. He's a self pitting ****** in this film. :dunno

Would he be Buffalo Bill or Hannibal Lecter?

What's hilarious is that Faraci has never actually liked Superman. And here is lamenting the "loss" of the character. He's so full of ****. He's a click-baiting, hair-pulling attention whore.

He's got some of you right where he wants you, though. :lol

Agreed. I would agree more with you that he just doesn't get him. And yes, him just flying off after the Capital blows up is the most non-Superman thing ever.

Why would I complain about Cavill,

Because he's the actual Superman that we're talking about? :cuckoo:

why do I care about Frodo,

I'm sure you don't, but like it or not he's one of many inspiring heroes who is flawed and gets upset and has been featured in actual books you can buy in a book store that compare him to Christ, just like Superman.

You quit whining about my opinions. See how that works.

Your opinions aren't grounded in anything substantial enough to withstand scrutiny? Okay. Noted. We can move on...
