In the case of these films, they do. The "investors" are Time Warner and its stakeholders. It's all taken into account as part of a portfolio.

Trust me, I've seen Spreadsheets that would make even the most battle-hardened CPA's eyes bleed. :lol

I'm sure... The money thrown at movies today is crazy... You also have to remember too that many big actors take back end sums in addition to their salaries based on how well the movie does. Which then again eats into profits. And those deals are never divulged and are not considered part of the budget either.

Yeah, the amounts of money we're talking about these days are indeed insane. And, yeah, back-end deals are crazy, too. But WB does have an advantage there over many studios, and that goes back to Merchandising & Licensing. Many actors prefer a cut of that over box office receipts. We have Jack Nicholson to thank for that. :lol

Of course they would love that (or more!) but yeah, definitely didn't NEED it. That's a false internet narrative spun from the same usual blogger goobers.

DC/Snyder had a lot of trash talk aimed directly at Marvel as to how much "better" they're movies were gonna be. Whether it was out of good fun or truly intended to be malicious, it's out there and can't be taken back... Thus they "needed" this to be huge as to not slither back into their corner with their tails tucked between their legs". If your gonna call someone out, you better bring your "A" game... Whats DC gonna say now with their JL movie "BvS wasn't what you wanted, but trust us, this time JL is!!" "Better than the Avengers!!".... No credibility now.

Once again the general media is trying it's best to bury this film....amazing.

No, not amazing. Most of the stories I saw stated 81% was including the Thursday preview numbers and said it was 71% excluding those preview numbers. Enough with the Mulder BS already.

Honestly, I think a lot of that "trash talk" was blown way out of proportion in the media (big surprise). While he definitely prefers the DC characters and obviously has his own style and sensibilities I know for a fact that Zack actually digs the Marvel movies. Some of the filmmakers are even friends. Some of the actors, too (Affleck and Chris Evans often watch Boston sports together... Imagine that: Batman and Cap cheering on the Red Sox together. It's a reality.). It's definitely not this Axis vs Allies thing that some fans and media want it be.

DC did it to themselves. When Snyder says he's giving the fans what they want, then the majority of fans don't like it, that's not good.... :slap He gave us what he wanted. And what he thought would be cool. And it's backfiring a little. If you watched the Kevin Smith DC special on TV I cringed how much he seemed to be sucking off Geof Johns & DC. It was fanboy pathetic. Now he's come out saying he didn't like the movie. That hurts him too. He helped promote something he believed in and he was let down too.... But not by his buddy Ben who was the *****!!!... :lol

Remember too that DC needed a run away hit since MOS wasn't recieved too well either. I enjoyed it, but it was far from a great Superman movie let alone a Universe builder.. They already had an uphill battle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't know why anyone would care about what Kevin Smith thinks and says... about anything. :lol

He's created a persona of himself as the ultimate "Fanboy". So unfortunately fans do look to him for reassurance. I'm sure that's why DC approached him to do the TV special, which they even had to air against Marvel's The Captain America 70th Anniv special... If it wasn't for DVR's or on demand, I know which I would've watched. Iv'e met him personally a few times back in the 90's. Before he became what he is. Someone I worked with went to high school with him, and another guy I worked with was friends with Jason Mewes... Now that's a character....

I know everyone's talking about the numbers and all, but here's some Doomsday concept art: New BATMAN V SUPERMAN Concept Art Reveals Alternate Design For Doomsday

None of them look like DD, but I'd have preffered one of the "scarier" looks. It wouldn't have been Doomsday, but at least the corpse-like designs would have been unique. Anything would've been better than the Abominable Cave-Troll...

God that's hideous. I know the original comicdesign isn't astounding by any stretch of the imagination, but it served its purpose and there have been a couple of better iterations over the years to pull inspiration from. That thing just looks like a generic Golem.

I do agree that those designs were much scarier, cooler, and unique than the Cave Troll-esque DD we got. Nothing was nastier than giant quadruple amputee troll in BOTFA with the chains dangling from its eye sockets though. :lol

Interesting that as of today BvS is at $681 million worldwide. Imagine it making just $19 million more and then being gone from theaters. It kind of does make ASM2 seem like a disaster for doing just that. :lol

I just want an awesome Suicide Squad, the JL, and more Affleck Batman. I really don't want Robbie's Harley to be a one-and-done either so I guess I'd just prefer that they stick her and Joker into the next Batfilm if they're going to call it a day after that. It seems crazy that they would though, Affleck *should* be able to carry DC just with Gotham movies from here on out if need be.

My guess is at this year's SDCC WB makes the big announcement of a solo Batman film with Affleck.....you heard it here first!:yess:

I'd rather listen to him talk about movies for 90 minutes than watch any of his movies. He can tell a good story as long as it's not on celluloid.

11 years ago Batman Begins made $374 million worldwide. Crazy how much expectations have changed.

not a spike in sight... like seriously, why the HELL Did they do that? I would love an explanation.... Snyder is so careful about faithful adaptations of things.....
I wouldn't mind these if they had a lot of spikes... Was it too hard to animate spikes for the CGI team or something? was it more practical to not add them? wtf
