I might be the only person on Earth who feels this way (and it would be VERY difficult to pull off) but I would love for there to be a big-budget, live action film with the same tone and sensibilities of Batman: The Brave & The Bold some day. Man, I loved that show.

Also, Marvel consistently caters to you know what demographic which I'm guessing is starting to buy comics, because how the **** do you explain Whor selling that well? :lol it's a **** comic, bottom of the barrel, yet, it's selling pretty well. MCU Hype and high profile of Marvel as a brand has to have something to do with it.

:rotfl ... I'm a big Thor fan and that book still really pi$$e$ me off! She's not Thor!!!!! She just has his powers... I wish Odin killed her already. Marvel must be somehow inflating the numbers so they can show how they are being sympathetic to the female reader...:pfft:

Well, thank god we won't have to deal with it in the MCU... Portman can't stand these movies, shocker, and unless they recast Jane Foster 1st, she's already a character NO ONE seems to care about...

But she outsold action comics which is what I meant, hell, action comics is the best of the Superman series right now. See? Definitely an A-lister, I don't even know how that's questionable.

Still, Superman is the flagship, just as King's Batman will be the flagship and not Snyde's All-Star or Tynion's Detective. And Superman outsold her. Same with Chulk. And NuThor. And Deadpool. Wonder Woman is well known and an A-Lister in the comic book world, but if you go out there, right now, and ask 10 people, each one from a different country, to name 5 comic book characters, do you think everyone will include Wonder Woman? Here at least, no, certainly not. Even Spawn is more well knwon than Wonder Woman around here. Which is exactly what I mean: A-Listers vary by location.

Well, considering the majority of my pull is Marvel related, no, not reallty. Squirell Girl is a fun comic that children can enjoy. Hellcat, Gwenpool and the like are cutesy comics that remind me of the old romance stuff. They're not for everyone, but they're not awful. It all depends on your tastes. There are straight-up super-hero stuff (Spider-Man, Iron Man), espionage books (Black Widow, Captain America), dark and broody stuff (Daredevil, Punisher, Nighthawk, Moon Knight), comedy books (Power Man & Iron Fist) and many other sub-genres.

It's funny, cause DC tried the same thing (minority leads with Doomed and Doctor Fate, quirkiness with a Prez revival) and DCYou for the most part, failed. We'll have to see how REBIRTH does. As it stands, DC only has super-hero stuff plus a couple of Vertigo books. Batman will star in 3 bi-weekly series next year, not to mention the entire Bat-Family. So yeah, I'll take Marvel's model any day. You want some Star Trek-esque sci-fi? You have Ultimates. You want horror/magic? You've got Scarlet Witch. You want social commentary? You've got Vision and maybe X-Men. Really, there are many things to choose from from Marvel, and it all depends on your taste. NuThor ain't my cup of tea for example, but to say that Marvel appeals to a certain demographic is simply not true. If they did, they wouldn't cover the majority of the market share.

I know people attribute it to movie-hype and yeah, that plays a part, but why not simply accept that their strategy works and that their comics are good? If they were crap, they would neither get good reviews, nor sell well. The tumblr crowd is a very small minority compared to the actual customers of the books. The new fans that are initiated through the movies are few and far between when compared to the already built-in fanbase.

Now, as far as quality goes, indies have them beat most of the time. East of West is magnificent, Bloodshot: Reborn is everything a "psycho" character should be, and Ninjak mixes the best of Bond with the best of Batman. Invincible, from what I've read, puts all other straight-up super-hero comics to shame.

No to both, but they haven't exactly asked to watch those either. And I actually don't think the first IM is a good movie for little kids, so it isn't just a BvS or DC thing. Again, I don't expect my kids to go through this world without seeing thousands of sensual situations in advertising, film, TV, etc., I'm just choosing to not go out of my way to expose them while they're single digit ages.

You know I'd actually forgotten about the premarital Clark Kent *** in Superman II (haven't watched THAT movie in I don't know how long,) so I suppose Zack isn't exactly treading new ground here even if he did decide to run with it.

Yeah, I totally get that, and I apologize if I pressed the issue at all. :duff At any rate, Snyder's Superman may be a fornicator, but at least he's not a deadbeat dad like Routh was. Looking in people's windows, letting Cyclops raise his progeny. How's that for a positive role model?:lol

I support any enterprise that includes the possibility of a Ted Kord appearance.

As far as my ideal Batman goes, I've got to say Kara's kind of influenced my vision of the character with his stuff about Bruce Wayne being the hero the real world needs. I'd like a Batman who sees himself as the short term solution. He'll do it until the day he dies, but he's a guy who recognizes that a lot of it is rooted deeper than just "bad men doing bad things," so, basically, a guy who's burning the candle at both ends while he fights for his city's soul. He gives up his seat at the table in Wayne Enterprises and focuses on bettering the community by day. Using his wealth and power to combat poverty and the corruption that grows from within. Basically, Batman only exists because change takes too much time, and Bruce Wayne is too much of a narcissist to let people die on his watch while society takes its time.

He probably thought that piloting a Batwing loaded with miniguns would be more advantageous than being half blind in a damaged and bulky suit.

I mean after his little plane failed. Didn't he take the suit with him...or did he leave it behind near the famous spear? Also, it would have made sense for him to use the iron suit when he went to rescue Martha...much safer and effective than his normal suit.

Shut up and take my Bat-Credit Card.:lecture

I'm not sure the iron suit served a purpose beyond looking cool because in the warehouse fight you can tell there's metal plating in the regular suit. He got shot in the back of the head and was Ok, you can see sparks flying off of him when he's getting attacked by knives and guns. But I'm not sure why the one knife got him though lol.

wasn't it all damaged and stuff? plus better to be fast and agile than weighted down, specially since the rescue mission was a surprise attack, I can't imagine Batman with that big suit trying to come out from the second floor :lol he would have probably taken down the entire floor injuring Martha if he had that on :rotfl

He prob ditched it as it was damaged, also it wouldn't make sense to bring power armour to a hostage situation. We got to see Batman at his best - being a powerful, methodical fighter using surprise and intimidation with some awesome fight sequences in taking out each bad guy. His armour was just for Superman as a homage to The Dark Knight Returns

God of Thunder was going so magnificently, to think we could've gotten a young Thor series in viking times, or an old King Thor series in the future... All of that is ruined because of that empty shell of a character... Muh gurl powah :slap

Why didn't Batman put his Iron suit in the final fight against Doomsday? He had plenty of time to put the suit back on.
1. He took it off to get on the batwing.
2. He did not have time at all to put it back on. For all we know it requires heavy machinery to put it back on.
3. It was rekt as ****.
4. It barely stood up a few minutes against a very depowered Superman while severely limiting his movement, against Doomsday that thing was a metal coffin.

But again, he outsold one of the Superman series, which is saying a lot, she may not be that well known, to the casual audiences to you (even though I think she is), but that doesn't matter, in the comicbook world and in DC she is undoubtedly an A-lister. Being in a big budget movie doesn't make you A-lister, to this day I don't consider BW or Arrowguy A-listers.

If you ask anyone to say who's the most famous female superhero I guarantee you most people will say WW.

No no, they are pandering with laser focus to THAT demographic, it's not that they don't have other demographics in mind, is the fact that they are using flagship characters and using their built in fanbase to shove that stuff down people's throat, DC also has something for everyone, but they're not using those cheap tactics (imo) to win over fans, or they weren't at least, since now there's a Chinese Superman right around the corner :slap

The Tumblr crowd is not small by any means, I'm not saying their comics aren't good, I'm saying the movie hype gave them a big push is all.
