the only way a new iron man would work is if they pass the torch to another character. Maybe a woman this time, I know Pepper has her own suit but maybe Maria Hill can become the new Iron lady and carry on the Iron Man films.
I think that would be cool. or give the suit to Hawkeye and have him carry the iron man movies from then on... I think It could work besides just recasting

(tony can always just be around for cameos

Marvel needs Iron Man. Take any one character from Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk or Thor away and the the universe and it's weakened straight away. Characters like Hawkeye, Falcon and all the other second/third rate characters aren't strong enough to lead a movie.

It's going to be very tough replacing RDJ eventually, because so much of Tony Stark's personality, wit, and charm comes from RDJ's own public persona. That's going to be the toughest recast since...well, I can't think of a character that was so closely associated with an actor, it was almost impossible to replace. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing some new original characters wear Iron Man suits like a team of Iron Mans/woman...like The Centurions. Anyone here remember that show? :D

Five minutes from the start of my third viewing. Watching in 2D 70mm IMAX again. Theater is packed. Only the two front rows remain vacant.

It sounds like you don't have a firm grasp on what is and isn't tempting behavior. No one watches Looney Tunes or Batman and then goes out and drops anvils or tires on people's heads. But watching sensual scenes, especially those that are teasing nudity, can be a gateway to a very problematic addiction especially if cultivated at a very young age. It just isn't necessary. My kids will get plenty of exposure to that for the rest of their lives, I'm not going to go out of my way to show them now. The fact that it was also out of wedlock, involving Superman (yeah, I get it, this isn't my father's Superman, didn't need THAT drilled any further) who is supposed to have somewhat loftier convictions than your average dude, etc., just something that I'm not going to pay money to expose my kids to.

But that's me, you get to raise your own kids however you see fit.

Out of curiosity, have they seen Iron Man, or The Dark Knight Rises? Like I said, I get the thought process behind it, but I don't really see how it was any more sensual than Christine Everhart all over Tony/waking up in nothing but a bed sheet, or Talia and Bruce's fireside rendezvous. It wasn't directed solely at you, I was just surprised to see that it was such an issue for a few people.

...and it's not like this is anything new for Superman, either. Superman II had Reeve giving up his powers and immediately getting down with Lois (who he wasn't married to, either), and Clark really got around in Smallville.:lol

Man, the fact that people are debating whether or not this film will make it to a billion, it shows what a failure and a missed opportunity this truly was :monkey2 BVS should have been the type of film that brings people all generations together to see something they've never seen in more than 76 years. This should be a film with tons of replay value, but instead, most people will probably go see it once, if they even go see it at all.
I know people who support this film don't want to agree but I think you have a good point there. When you put the two most recognizable super heroes ever in a film together and throw in WW's big screen debut that movie should own the world for several weeks, and it should at least surpass Jurassic World in box office numbers. Technically it's successful because it will make a profit but it fails as a pop culture event, which it should have been.

So now all that matters is the misleading "Thursday evening combined with opening Friday" numbers in comparison to what it does the *single* following Friday? A 68% weekend drop was too run of the mill so they have to pinpoint the Thu/Fri to Friday dropoff like it's world news? FFS. :slap

It dropped 68% for weekend only- typical for blockbusters. Yes they skewed the numbers to make it worse- statistics can be bent to make any point you want if you aren't playing fair

As one of those supporters, I agree with everything you just said.

No to both, but they haven't exactly asked to watch those either. And I actually don't think the first IM is a good movie for little kids, so it isn't just a BvS or DC thing. Again, I don't expect my kids to go through this world without seeing thousands of sensual situations in advertising, film, TV, etc., I'm just choosing to not go out of my way to expose them while they're single digit ages.

You know I'd actually forgotten about the premarital Clark Kent *** in Superman II (haven't watched THAT movie in I don't know how long,) so I suppose Zack isn't exactly treading new ground here even if he did decide to run with it.

Agreed- it is not a big big crowd pleaser like SW or JW....if that was it's intent it fell way short. I like it isn't the same old bright wholesome feel good stuff that typically makes up this kind of blockbuster but understand why alot wanted it like that. I feel WB was somehow expecting that it would be but they sure weren't paying attention to what kind of film they released, eh?

Tub scene doesn't bother me for kids (I must have a more European sensibility when it comes to that kind of thing), but the vibe of sadness and despair draping over everything does. Also, the brutality of the Batman fights. I'm talking < 10 year olds, though.

:exactly:
Parents who have no problem with their young kids seeing Batman decapitate a henchman with his car bumper but get the vapors over a barely exposed breast crack me up. So stereo-typically American--the country's puritanical hypocrisy is always a source of worldwide amusement, if not an outright joke.

If I were 12, I would have probably fell in love with this movie.

The level of sophistication in this film seemed squarely aimed at an 11 to 12-year-old sensibility, so why not? :lol

Two of the most iconic Superhero characters in history don't need a movie to be popular. And I haven't seen any of the movie merch flying off the shelves in any of the stores I've been too either.

A great deal will be lining landfills by this summer, no doubt.

Man Of Steel Hot Toys figures--Jor-El and Zod--are still on sale at BBTS three years later. :violin

It sounds like you don't have a firm grasp

OMFG! :rotfl
This has to win "pot meets kettle" comment of the thread! :clap

The fact that it was also out of wedlock

Tell us--what's it like living in the 19th century? :lol

Enough with the Mulder BS already.

Hey c'mon--Disney has been tweaking WB's box office by beaming Mickey-rays from their orbital satellite for years now.
Personally, I blame this guy:

Khev like any parent is free to raise his kid as he seems fit and lecturing him on how to do it is as pointless as it is ridiculous.

Please give that a rest.

Would WW be considered B list, next step up from IM?

IM as in Iron Man?

WW has been A-list in the DC comics for years as part of the JL "Big 3".

Iron Man, Captain America, and most of the Avengers characters actually have the early 2000's and movies to thank for getting them 'promoted' BACK to A-list. In the 90's, Marvel ran off of two prime properties: Spider-man and X-Men. Everyone else was mostly scrubs and especially the Avengers. That's when we had Cap-Wolf, Iron Man bounced from team-to-team, Avengers West Coast, etc. etc. The 2000's brought some STRONG story-telling back to Avengers, Cap, Iron Man, Thor, etc. (The 'Ultimates', Civil War, Death of Cap, etc.) and the movies gave them a bump as well...moving them back up to 'A-list'.
