That was indeed a bad scene on many levels. While I agree with the purpose that it served, it was just so horribly executed. For all Superman knew Batman was chasing a truckful of human sex traffickers. So he just lets them go? He doesn't stop the truck and show Batman how to apprehend criminals without killing them? He just picks a side, the side of the criminals, and stops *Batman* instead a la Matt Modine in TDKR? And then he doesn't even give him a good lecture. "I know you mean well, but the killing has to stop. Next time that signal lights up the sky, I'll be the one to deal with it. In the meantime you need to lay low, consider this a warning." Something like that that still works in the idea of the batsignal as bait but doesn't have Supes lead off with a contemptuous threat ("the bat is DEAD") and then close with eye-rolling self-righteousness ("consider this mercy.")

We should have been constantly feeling like Supes was getting a raw deal with how he was treated the whole movie. Having him be a jerk and provoke Batman muddies those waters.

I agree, sassy Superman could have handled the situation more peacefully. To be fair about Matt Modine, Batman was wanted for the murder of several people, including Dent.

Playful banter is one thing, but dialogue exchanges that play like a contrived verbal chess match are tedious, imho.

Agreed.

Looks like Civil War will get it right:

Tony: "Sometimes I just want to punch you in your perfect teeth."

Cap: "..........."

That's actually pretty awesome that not only does Cap not dignify the aggression with a response but he doesn't even bother to stand up and face Stark at eye level. :lol (according to the trailer anyway, who knows if it will be different in the movie.)

If Goyer was writing that it would have gone:

"Do you think I'll punch your perfect teeth? I will."

"Your armor is dumb, bury it." :monkey1

Wait, are people really complaining that there wasn't exposition explaining Batman's armor?? If so, that's gotta be hair-pulling. I refuse to believe anyone (especially on here) would really have a problem with that. But, if so... wow.

yeah like its to say I want IM 1 cave thing going on...LOL

I believe we have our running gag from this film :lol

Which is still apologetically one of my favorite aspects of the movie and an idea I think is a pretty elegant mechanism to have Batman throw down his sword against Superman. :yess:

The first time I read/saw it I thought, "Damn, that's such a no-brainer I'm surprised it was never canon in the comics." And I still feel that way. I don't care how many silly memes people make. :wink1:

Agreed, I mean if their mothers have really shared the same name for the last 75 years really, how do you NOT use that?

Yeah, it's pretty much always been Martha Wayne and Martha Kent. And I'll admit... I've been reading Batman and Superman comics for over 30+ years and I never once made that connection myself. :slap

Sidenote: Martha must have been a very popular name in the late 1930's. :lol

It was nothing short of genius. You just can't trivialize the Martha thing unless you don't understand it. Having said that, the memes are actually funny this time around. I don't get tired of seeing the Martha memes, and the Sadfleck video is just a maymay masterpiece.

No love for Hopeman or Man of Murder? :monkey3

Fair enough. But you can't reasonably say that the dream sequences were unnecessary and at the same time lament screen time devoted to the creation of the armor suit.

I get that this is more of a personal thing. Mind you, it would have at least had something to do with the story in hand.
