That said, I don't see how any of this has anything to do with many online critics being overly harsh on this movie. And I've never believed they're "paid off" by Disney. That's silly.
Good to hear you say that. I was hoping you would talk some sense into the theorists in this thread that can't just let it go.

They just have their own agendas and own built-in distaste for what Zack is doing with these movie, which I think is pretty clear and doesn't require a "tin foil hat" to see.
I actually agree with this and I'm not a Snyder fan.

Idk, if I was an established critic I would take a bribe in a heartbeat! :lol

Actually, "bribes" are pretty common with journalists. They are usually just called "press kits" with some nice goodies to come along with the usual marketing fluff and product information. As a marketing professional, I've handed a fair number of those to the press. Usually, it's to make the members of the press think nicely of you so that they are more positive towards your products.

Disney, WB, everyone in Hollywood surely does this.

What doesn't make sense about conspiracy theorists here is that a party would pay to get a film negatively reviewed. It doesn't make sense in this case because there is no real competition and nothing to be gained from it.

A side note, BvS is no longer showing in IMAX theaters here. Jungle Book has taken its place (starting yesterday).

So......BvS is considered a overall success and...

Bvs is not an overall success, and the people losing their minds are the ones who can't accept it. Overall success means popular, profitable and critically acclaimed. It's divisive, so barely popular at best. It's going to be profitable, but I'm pretty sure expectations weren't met, and let's not get into the critics.
So not a flop or failure at all, but a marginal success for "the greatest gladiator match".

Hey guys been way for a bit, but Chewie's back. I read yesterday that because of the reception to BvS Warner Bros are reconsidering some of their comic movies. I hope not I want to see Shazam on the big screen!

BvS was a success for me because Batman's part of the film was near perfect and it made me want to know what's next.
Comin' from a strong MoS and Watchmen hater.

To be honest, I do not think it deserved a 29% Rotten score, but in my personal opinion, it wasn't better than the above films (with the exception of IM3, where I think I'd be among the 21% that did not like that film).

When you have a very serious film like BvS, you'll need to really execute the story well. Without a well-executed story, you're left with nothing much. With movies like Thor TDW or IM2, even when the story may be lacking, their overall light-heartedness and strong main characters (you can't deny that Tom Hiddleston was a really good Loki and Robert Downey made a great IM/Stark) could make up for that. While the story may not have been the best, they were fun in their own right.

Also, I will repeat, blaming critics for low box office sales is grasping for straws. You over-estimate the number of people who actually look at reviews before watching a movie. I read reviews too but I only read them after watching a film to see if my views agreed with what other people thought.

I think word-of-mouth has a bigger effect. In my household for example, my brother was planning on watching BvS but when he saw I wasn't too happy about it, he didn't. When he didn't his friends didn't too (they were planning to go together). Now they are just waiting for it to come out of HBO or other cable movie channels we have to watch it for free. I am sure that happened to a lot of other people too.

Wait, did you see the movie and tell your brother you weren't happy about it? Because if you didn't then obviously you weren't happy with the reviews on this movie and you, your brother, and his friends stayed away based off of someone else thoughts on the movie.

I had the exact opposite thing happen with my friends and family. My wife read the reviews and dreaded the thought of spending over 2 1/2 hours of her life watching B vs S. She only went because I bought tix opening day for the entire family. When the movie was over, I asked her what she thought about it. Her response...it was really good and I enjoyed it. Both my sons LOVED it, as did I. Now, most of my comics friends are Marvel fans. When they read the reviews, they couldn't stay far enough away from this flic. One of them even owns a comic shop. So, I met up with a bunch of friends there. They asked me what I thought of the movie and I told them I loved it. Of course they remained skeptical. Then I made a suggestion. A local theater has $5 movies on Tuesday. I agreed to go with them on Tuesday if they were willing to go. So, the 7 of us agreed to see the movie on Ultra screen (just like an IMAX sized screen) for 5 bucks. When the movie is over I asked them what they thought. EVERY single one of them really liked it/ really loved it. No one gave it less than a 8/10 score. Not only were they super glad that I talked them into seeing it, they want to see it again. Funny enough, one of our friends arrived 10 minutes late and couldn't get a ticket because the movie was sold out. So, all 6 of us agreed to go see the movie again next Tuesday with the friend that missed it. No way that happens if any of them didn't like the movie. Remember, they're Marvel fans. One unsolicited opinion that my friends gave me afterwards when discussing the movie...critics really blew it with this one. No way they could understand the slew of negative reviews for B vs S. I just shrugged my shoulders and told them I'd see them next Tuesday.

That was spun the wrong way. What's happening is that WB is going to cut back on big-budget movies that are NOT part of established brands or franchises (they cited big-budget duds like "In The Heart of The Sea" and "Jupiter Ascending" as reasons) and will instead focus on the bigger franchises. This means even MORE of a focus on their DC movies. In fact, they've announced dates for TWO additional ones (not yet announced what they are, but I believe one is the solo Batman film) and moved the release date of WONDER WOMAN up 3 weeks to June 2, 2017.

Yes I did. He was supposed to come with me on opening Saturday but he wasn't able to get tickets (he went out to buy the day after I did). When I got home he asked me how it was and I gave him my non-spoiler review (basically I said the fights were fun and entertaining, but they tried to cram too many things into it so it felt bloated and disjointed). So now he hasn't seen it.

I read the reviews only after I watched the film myself. I usually avoid reviews to avoid both spoilers and a biased view of the film. You see, positive reviews can make me expect too much while negative reviews will have me searching for flaws I otherwise wouldn't had. I generally like to form my opinion first, especially with a film this big.

Funnily enough, I enjoyed this film, even if I did not think it was good. I enjoyed it the way I enjoy watching films like the Transporter, or (yelp!) Fast and Furious. I found those shows fun for the sheer audacity of them, but I know they are hardly good films.

Here I enjoyed the film because, I have never seen a live action Batman fight as brutally and as flowing as that. I never saw a live adaptation of Wonder Woman that fierce. And then Batman and Superman fought... Something I enjoyed in the comics brought to life in the big screen. I enjoyed every second of those. But the film as a whole, its story, its execution, were off. They simply tried to cram too many things (good things when taken in isolation) into one film and the overall lack of focus really hurt the film in my mind.
