Honestly, they've already turned a profit, and it's going to continue to make money until it leaves theaters, on home video, etc., so, I think that, for all intents and purposes, they should consider it a win, for the simple fact that this movie was pretty much doomed from the world go. Pretty much from Affleck's casting onward, it was "this movie's gonna suck," and then we saw the first trailer, and, surprise, surprise, the consensus seemed to be "this looks way too dark." It seems like every single thing they did, people were always looking for the glass half empty. That second trailer, terrible as it was, was pretty much tailor made for those "fun" people, with snarky Bruce Wayne at the party, "oh, ****," and "is she with you" intercut with quirky Lex and the "big bad" Doomsday, and, still, suddenly, those people were saying "this gives too much away," and "there's too much crappy humor."

Ultimately, I feel like Snyder gave us exactly the movie that he advertised, and, ultimately, I think, as expected, people's opinions pretty much exactly aligned with their preconceptions. Whether you want to call that bias, or Marvel bribery, or whatever, that's up to you, and I don't give two ****s, but I look at that 29%, and I think that's some loaded bull****, whether you liked it or not.

29% isn't reflective of the film's actual score though. It just means that only 29% of the critics rated the film positively.

The Rotten Tomatoes system only puts into account a positive or negative vote. If they voted positively, they go towards the bunch that voted the film as Fresh. If they didn't like it and voted negatively, it'd count towards Rotten. AFAIK there is no middle ground.

Well said.

In a more rational world where people formulate opinions after seeing the movie, BvS would have an 80% on RT.

I know. I still think it's ********, though, and I feel like, maybe not all of them, but, at least, some of them failed to do their jobs, because, ultimately, you're supposed to be objective, and I failed to see that. I can't count how many reviews I saw that said something along the lines of "too dark," "too dour," "not fun," or any variety of those buzzwords. I look at it this way, if you go into "Braveheart" expecting "Forrest Gump," you're going to be disappointed. Both are technically the same genre; they're both dramas, but that's pretty much the only common ground you can find. Both are good movies in their own right, and, even though they're different, people recognize that.

That was simply not the case with this movie. Did it have problems? Absolutely. Pacing issues? Sure. Are there areas for improvement? Definitely. Do I think the Ultimate Edition will be a better movie? Hopefully, but, as I said, it's telling when the same people who are reviewing the film post their "trailer reactions" each and every time a new one hits, and their opinion of the finished product is exactly the same. You see this consistent trend of "what Marvel is doing..." and "what makes Marvel so good..." and you can't help but feel like many of these people are straining their credibility.

Seriously, you just need to learn to separate your opinion from other peoples opinions. You saw it, you enjoyed it, it made money, WB is making more, so aside from that, why do you care about anybody else's opinion? How is that going to affect anything in your life?

Everybody has an opinion, and your opinion means as much or as little as their opinion does.

It was great. It sucked. It was ok. All those opinions are correct. There is no "correct" taste.

They've lost all credibility. They're all getting blasted in the comments sections.

It just sucks that they overhyped this film so much and it's not making its mark as it should. I mean fans have been waiting an eternity for a Batman vs Superman film

Don't try ad figure out Riddick's taste in movies.
Taste doesn't have anything to do with it. :lol
The story is a mess, the characters are inconsistent and the narrative is nonexistent.
Doesn't mean you can't like it. :wink1:

P.S.
Let's bring DC back to Marvel!

I was not talking about just DotD... I was talking about all movies ;) One day I might think you would not like a film like DotD just to find out your do:lol

Just sometimes I am shocked at what you do like after seeing what you don't. Nothing wrong with that :)

It's what makes us love you Riddick :)

Hype and the title is the reason why it did well during the opening week. The movie itself, is the reason why its not doing as well as it should be.

Were they really? I think more than anything we wanted to see the Justice League and have someone to truly take the mantle from Reeve. I like Cavill as Clark but these movies don't make me like him as Superman.

:exactly:
