I remember seeing this on the big screen in NY when it came out. I thought anime was amazing. The bar scene at the beginning looked so real. The manga was immense! There was no way Ottomo was fitting all of that in one movie. I think Akira would make a great mini series.

The manga is immense but it's a much quicker read than it looks.

Nope, his style is not boring at all, it's slick and stylish for urban landscapes and even space, which is perfect for Akira. I have some complaints with some of his movies, but cinematography isn't one of them.

The Wachowskis are a good choice but I doubt any studio will trust them with any big money movies anymore, and they're not very original when it comes to cinematography, it's just balls to the wall green screen, I've seen what they can do in that regard with Jupiter Ascending and Cloud Atlas.

And it would be another case of people not getting Akira, just like the Matrix sequels.

del Toro? I don't get why you think he understands anime, because of Pacific Rim? :lol Nah, he has a knack for certain types of Horror, he was up to adapt Domu, which was more up his alley, Akira? Nope.

Of these 3, Nolan is by far the better choice, and I'm not even a Nolan fan.

Del toro stated many times he is into japenese story telling. His works are a bit inspired by junji Ito.

I've heard that, it came out when the PT demo came out, not that he has anything like that in his work though.

But on that same token, Inception is heavily inspired by you know what.

Well, thats also because Superman Returns had other failed Superman movies attached to its budget, so it wasn’t very profitable like Batman Begins was.

Is that how it works? Seems a little unfair for it not to be judged on its own merits. But my point was it had similar box-office appeal to Begins.

Superman Returns had some pretty great super human fights:

Lets see, there was:

Superman vs a plane
Superman vs cigarettes
Superman vs anti stalking laws
Superman vs large crystals
Superman vs a needle stick
Superman vs child support

Man was that movie action packed!

BvS isn't looking so bad right now.[emoji38]

Definitely could have used some of the amazing Superman action from BvS. Like

Superman vs that one human
Superman vs a broken rocket
Superman vs a broken boat
Superman vs a piss bomb
Superman vs a hidden mother
Superman vs a sink
Superman vs depression
Superman vs cgi
Superman vs dirt

This has likely already been mentioned, but another thing working against BvS is the title. It's a hard sell with the mainstream, who don't understand why Bats and Supes would be fighting.
