Deckard
Super Freak

ESB was better than Star wars, but nevertheless, SW still has it's rightful place, just as TMP has in the PT. People just need to have a good cry, get over it, do some crunches, bathe and get out more.
Jesus Christ man, it's not like I think of how much I hate the Phantom Menace every day.
Everyone's "over it", but when the topic does come up, get ready for some criticism. That's great that you liked it, but a LOT of people didn't. That doesn't mean they have to "get over" anything.
I'm not the one posting like it's an affront to my religion.I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy a LOT of people are spewing in this thread. It's fine to think that it's the least of the 6 movies, but some of the people here are posting like Lucas went to their house, raped their wife, slapped their children and kicked their dogs.

He hits the nail on the head by comparing the duels of Skywalker and Kenobi. Lucas of the prequel era is everything that Lucas in the 70's despised.
On the protagonist issue, had Lucas gone with his original concept of having Obi-Wan being the main character, we would have had the protagonist we need to identify with. From what I remember Lucas later developed Qui-gon to add more of a wizened character. However, Obi-wan could have been both the Luke and Han characters in one had he ben the focal point we all originally thought him to be from the original trilogy. He could have been the brash young jedi who thought he could instruct Anakin as well as Yoda - or at least
we could have seen more hints of this dynamic.

Guess that was covered in Part 5.
