ESB was better than Star wars, but nevertheless, SW still has it's rightful place, just as TMP has in the PT. People just need to have a good cry, get over it, do some crunches, bathe and get out more.

Jesus Christ man, it's not like I think of how much I hate the Phantom Menace every day.

Everyone's "over it", but when the topic does come up, get ready for some criticism. That's great that you liked it, but a LOT of people didn't. That doesn't mean they have to "get over" anything.

I'm not the one posting like it's an affront to my religion. :lol I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy a LOT of people are spewing in this thread. It's fine to think that it's the least of the 6 movies, but some of the people here are posting like Lucas went to their house, raped their wife, slapped their children and kicked their dogs.

the dude's observations mixed with his delivery was brilliantly executed... very funny stuff.

He hits the nail on the head by comparing the duels of Skywalker and Kenobi. Lucas of the prequel era is everything that Lucas in the 70's despised.

Thanks for sharing that!Fantastic, funny and all true. All of his points are valid.Ultimately the prequels were a huge let down for me.Same with the Matrix sequels:monkey4

True enough.

It's been 10 years get over it. :lol

It was such a bad movie it sold 2.2 million DVD's in it's first week of sale, two and half years after it was at the movie theater.

If it was released tomorrow on Blu-Ray it would be a best seller for sure

The film is no Empire, but for me it's still a good movie :peace

The Video was funny though

Pretty entertaining reviews. Only made it through the first three so far, but from a critical review standpoint the guy knows what he's talking about - good points all around.

Of course most people (such as myself) still enjoy the flick well enough since it is Star Wars (hence the reason it has sold however many million DVD's), but looking at it from a critical standpoint is still always fun.

His arguments, admittedly entertaining in moments, are like those of Howard Stern or Michael Moore who usually asks a question and then interrupts so that the words are bent into his "funny" versus the actual facts. A good example of this is in the end critique about why Obi trained Anny and was let do so, I guess the ****tard clearly forgot that the prophecy was a good one about a good individual who brings balance to the force (in what they all thought was a good way). He cleverly cuts the scenes to add to his argument, while negating others that disprove it.

Yeah, I could certainly do without some of the added bits of comedic fare, it does kind of undercut his commentary, but I guess it adds some levity to the whole thing - maybe so it isn't taken quite so seriously - though a lot of it is pretty funny.

On the protagonist issue, had Lucas gone with his original concept of having Obi-Wan being the main character, we would have had the protagonist we need to identify with. From what I remember Lucas later developed Qui-gon to add more of a wizened character. However, Obi-wan could have been both the Luke and Han characters in one had he ben the focal point we all originally thought him to be from the original trilogy. He could have been the brash young jedi who thought he could instruct Anakin as well as Yoda - or at least
we could have seen more hints of this dynamic.

Guess that was covered in Part 5.

I love the movie, AND his review was hilarious! I love the movie, and it doesn't need me to defend it. And just as much as I love te good-natured ribbing Family Guy gives the movies, I also love the vitriol of this reviewer! I hope he does more, because it's brilliant.

"What is wrong with your FACE?!?!"

Funny, funny stuff. I really like The Phantom Menace. And I watch it fairly often. Once a month or so.

But I have learned to look at the movie as a spoof of Star Wars.

Sort of a high-budget Spaceballs.

This is what should've happened. At least back in 1997-1998 I thought this was how it would be. We see the "civilized" time through Obi Wan's eyes and see his tale told about how he became a Jedi Knight, and ultimately one of the few to survive the purge.

I love the bits about it being a children's movie, then cut to the shots of the kids watching all of that dry political bs. :lol Thank god I grew up with the OT, just wizards, princesses, pirates and fun.

That was hysterical. I'd love to see this guy's review of Kingdumb of the Crystal Skull.

The light saber duels argument is enough to prove the eternal ????tiness of the prequel trilogy, IMO. How stupid looking are all these idiots spinning their the light sabers around like they are glorified baton twirlers? Very stupid, that's how stupid.

Anyone want to band together and rewrite the PT on how it should have been? Obi-Wan as the main character and such. I never really cared about any of the characters. No one will be talking about the PT in 20 years the way we talked about the OT now. Maybe we can have a fan edit? :)
