Only knock against the LotR movies I have...is the way the army of the Dead were made. Too much computer rendering...

It's The Lord of the Rings and not even close for me. It's better directed, better story, better visuals, better characters, more depth to the story, and a better journey from start to finish.

Totally agree.......and Im a bigger Star Wars fan than LOTR.

Star Wars did have the better soundtrack.....by far!

I know I didn't mention the score but at worst it's a tie their. Shores work is equally as good.

As far as better scores go, LOTR wins. Star Wars' is just more socially recognizable.

But yeah, emotionally, LOTR's score hands down.

LotR are well crafted cinematic masterpieces, no doubt, but they also benefit from a plethora of amazing source material. While Star Wars may not match up in direction or acting, I think they stand as a much larger accomplishment is film making and cultural impact. Plus, I just like them more.

SW > LotR

That was pretty far from what I was saying, thanks for trying to put words in my mouth though.

there is a great innuendo joke here . . . I just can't think of it yet . . .

. . something about gay sex . . incest . . and your mouth . . .

in all seriousness though . . . I love both films so much . . . I can't choose one over the other . . .

:nono: This mouth is not for gay sex or incestual relations... Let's just put it like this, there was uncomfortable sexual tension between a pair of main characters in both trilogies. :inlove

Nope :lecture For me the emotion and feel that comes from listenting to The Lord of the Rings soundtrack is much higher than from the SW soundtracks.

The sense of sheer nostalgia I get from hearing the opening horns of the Star Wars theme blows anything I get listening to the LOTR soundtrack clear out of orbit. Hell, Williams' score is so ingrained in the world psyche that I'm willing to bet most instantly thing "Star Wars" when they hear 20th Century Fox's end theme during the searchlight logo sequence. :lol

Speaking as someone with a degree in music composition, I love Howard Shores work and it is very distinctive in sound... but nothing compares to the Skywalker theme, Yoda's theme, Leia's theme, the love theme from ESB. Not to mention Duel of the Fates. I even believe I would take Yub Nub over any of the LOTR themes... maybe....

For me I get that feeling when I listen to my soundtracks for LOTR. A lot of it I can place within where they are at in the movie and the added feel for me when reading the books just is fantastic. That's not to say I don't like the SW soundtracks because they're good, and Williams is awesome (just listen to the Lincoln soundtrack) its just I think Shore's work in Middle-earth is a bit better. I agree SW is probably something people think of for sure when seeing that.

I'm sorry you disapprove of my choice. :1-1: SW is fun but nothing about it is better for me than The Lord of the Rings. I'm not going to say otherwise just to appease anyone.
TheJosh, please. Just appease the rest of us and say that you like Star Wars better. It worked in Munich!

I'd put the LOTR soundtrack ahead of Jedi Rocks though. :monkey1
