Just another day in New York City. This morning (7:00 am) 5 people jogging were randomly stabbed including a baby in a stroller. People are miserable these days.

it is hard to tell. The fact one of them actually posted the video online within hours of the incident leads me to believe the SUV probably hit one of them first.
If they were out just raising hell and the guy just called the cops and then all this started, their next target will be the camera guy ... :monkey1 ...

Yeah....bikers weren't the issue...

Police have arrested a motorcyclist injured in a clash with a Range Rover on a Manhattan highway that triggered a wild chase and beating by a pack of fellow bikers bent on revenge.

Christopher Cruz was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of the child, police told NBC New York. The NYPD is looking for more of the two dozen men involved in the hell-ride — which was caught on video.

Alexian Lien, 33, was out for a drive with his wife and 2-year-old daughter when he was surrounded by a pack of bikers apparently taking part in an unauthorized rally called Hollywood Stuntz, police said.

Video from a helmet camera that was posted on YouTube shows Cruz's motorcycle slowing down right in front of the Range Rover, which clipped the bike.

Christopher Cruz slows his motorcycle down in front of a Range Rover on Mahattan's West Side Highway on Sunday, Sept. 29, in this image from a video posted on YouTube. Cruz has been arrested by police after his clash with the Range Rover triggered a wild chase and beating by a pack of fellow bikers bent on revenge.

The bikers then surrounded Lien's vehicle.

"They take their helmets and start to dent his car, and apparently his tires are slashed there with a knife," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

Lien sped off in fear, hitting more bikes, police said.

The rest of the crew chased the Range Rover for 50 blocks until it was cornered in upper Manhattan, where video shows one motorcyclist smashing in the window with a helmet.

Police said the gang got into the car and assaulted Lien in front of his wife and child, slashing his face and chest. He was treated and released from Columbia University Medical Center.

Kelly said the bikers did not have a permit for the rally and the NYPD only learned of the gathering — in its second year — through social media.

He said police had fanned out around Manhattan to watch for trouble, arresting 15 bikers and confiscating 55 motorcycles unrelated to the attack on the Range Rover.

question is why were they stopping this SUV in the first place.
If its for no reason other than him calling the cops, that biker with the helmet cam is one of the dumbest guys on the planet....... unless he was intentionally ratting out people he doesnt really know, but just happened to be around at the rally and didnt really approve of what they were doing.... :monkey1....

yeah it doesn't really make sense for them to post this video if all the guy did was call the cops on them, Like someone asked earlier, how did they even know.

Yup. :goodpost:

Someday people may learn to read instead of judgment calls based on a youtube video. But I doubt it. Reading is hard.

It looks like what happened is that the bikers were out to meet up in Times Square to perform stunts, but the cops were there to prevent that.

Instead, the bikers were playing around on the road, hogging the road in front of the SUV, deliberately blocking him and stopping short in front of him. Well, bikes have better brakes than SUVs, and the SUV driver accidentally hit the biker that stopped shortest. It was the biker's fault for screwing around and bullying the SUV driver with all his biker friends.

The bikers were frustrated at not being allowed to congregate in Times Square and were harassing the SUV driver as a way to amuse themselves.
After the biker accidentally got hit because of his reckless riding, the bikers become an angry mob and start denting the SUV with their helmets and pull out knives to slash the SUVs tires.
The SUV driver panics in fear of his life and his family's safety, and then peels out, driving over some bikes, in order to protect him and his family.
Look at the picture of the SUV driver in the first link. Does he look like a trouble maker to you? Not to me.

The bikers believe they are above the law and have the right to get away with anything they want and hog the road, harass drivers ect, and use strength in numbers to offset their normal physical disadvantage against cars. Then they claim to be the victims when they get hurt as a result of the trouble they have caused.

This is not the first time that a crime has been committed where the perpetrator actually filmed the crime which was then used against them. Someone posted about the group just being normal people. It's been my experience that your true bikers don't cause trouble like the ones pictured here. I don't see people on cruisers doing stupid **** and showing off like I see the people on crotch rockets do. My gut instinct tells me these guys were showing off. Probably darting in and out of traffic. Doing wheelies and being generally unsafe. Guy in SUV either was calling cops to report it or maybe he even flipped one of them off. If a certain somone was surrounded by bikers and forced to stop and he didn't fear for his or his families safety then he's got a lot bigger ***** than I've got.

This is common by me. They drive at ridiculous speeds, weaving in and out of traffic. It really is becoming a problem
but then they wave the "start seeing motorcycles" flags. Like we can't hear them first :lol
It is more of the sportbikes around here that drive nuts but it's older bikers too.

Yeah, just a few months ago a guy named Derek Medina killed his wife and posted a picture of it on Facebook.

Actually, Bikers get hit by cars and trucks all the time because the drivers aren't looking out carefully enough for people on bikes. That's also an excuse for making their bikes louder to alert people that they're around (I still hate loud motorcycles). That's also a reason guys on bikes ride in groups so that they're more visible.
I have a friend that used to build and ride motorcycles (he's not a biker) that gave it up after a near fatal accident on PCH by a truck driver who wasn't aware they were around.

I am not saying it doesn't happen of course. I just think a lot can be avoided if they drove more responsible. Same goes for cars. As far as how loud they are. How can you not hear them cause even stock they are very loud to the point of distraction.
Never understood this but I guess there are car drivers who are oblivious too :lecture

The fact that they are "around" is the worst problem with bikers. They go AROUND the cars by driving in BETWEEN them all the time, which is really risky and should be illegal, but gee, who expects a motorcycle to come speeding along next to them, not even IN A LANE?

If motorcycles stayed in the lanes, in the right hand tire track of the car in front, they would be safer. But wait, then they couldn't pass everyone in cars to get through traffic more quickly, even though it is inherently dangerous.

Then when they do get hit because they are weaving through traffic in a way that makes in very difficult to see them (which a car can't do) they pretend to be the innocent victim.

The biker assumes risk for going in between cars and passing next to them closely.

Why? Were guns drawn? Knives being pulled out? I see 50+ trying to stop a guy who (as far as most of them knew) had just attacked one of their own with an SUV. Take a look at these "bikers". They are normal people. Pissed off people. But normal. It's pretty clear to me that it was the SUV drivers fear that drove this situation. Not the bikers supposed brutality.

It's not so black and white as some of you would like to believe, but hey, go on judging a situation you have a very superficial knowledge about.
Who knows? Maybe they were carrying a concealed weapon. They did have knives cuz what else would you slash the tires with? Maybe the RR guy saw that and panicked.

I definitely do not have a clear picture about who started it but it's very much clear from the video that the guy swerved into the lane that the RR was plying on and braked heavily. There was no way the RR guy could've avoided hitting him or at the very least, nudging him. It was an accident on his part not an ATTACK.

I guess he just made use of the recording to show the RR guy in bad light. If he had his helmet cam on, where's the part when they first encountered him or why does it stop when one of the bikers smashes the RR's window with his helmet?

Knives WERE being pulled out.

I heard they slashed his tires at one stop and it wasn't with fingernails.

Most Bikers ride around with some sort of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder thinking that everyone that moves funny on 4 wheels is out to get them.
Siding with the family man on this one.

I clicked the video expecting Sons of Anarchy... These are bullet bike douche bags getting into it with a SUV *********. No doubt the fault was on both sides... though I think I am siding with the bikers on this one.

Pix, I did read that part and would be there with you, if it weren't for the fact we don't know what was said or yelled to the guy at the time. We weren't there and we certainly know the final outcome. He had been slashed..... and they did it in front of his wife and child. The point is one of their guys was being a ******* and got hit. People naturally got upset (from both ends), and when you see a huge group of people around you looking upset, your mind begins to rush. I know it's not so black-and-white... but you're making it seem that way. Yes, he was part of an accident that one of their guys initially caused, he fleas the scene and gets cut up as a result... but yes, we're on the bikers side here. Gotcha, because every family should see their family member cut up. There is other ways of seeking justice. Cutting some guy up and giving him black eyes is not a way to get people on your side.

if youre on a motorcycle you have to ride defensively. Its like being at Walmart. Assume everyone is going to run into you as they wander around oblivious to the world around them.
