The fact that they are "around" is the worst problem with bikers. They go AROUND the cars by driving in BETWEEN them all the time, which is really risky and should be illegal, but gee, who expects a motorcycle to come speeding along next to them, not even IN A LANE?

If motorcycles stayed in the lanes, in the right hand tire track of the car in front, they would be safer. But wait, then they couldn't pass everyone in cars to get through traffic more quickly, even though it is inherently dangerous.

Then when they do get hit because they are weaving through traffic in a way that makes in very difficult to see them (which a car can't do) they pretend to be the innocent victim.

The biker assumes risk for going in between cars and passing next to them closely.

You're generalizing people who ride motorcycles. Not all people who ride bikes drive inbetween lanes (lane splitting), weave around traffic, speed, or pass too closely to other vehicles. The guy I knew that was nearly killed (the accident was so bad that it split his helmet in two, broke his hip, leg, foot, and arm in multiple places) happened when a Semi changed lanes without noticing the two guys on motorcycles already there. The issue for bike riders is visibility, they're not as noticeable as a larger vehicle.

I'm not defending the A--holes seen in the video, just explaining why some motorcyclists have loud engines, and ride around in groups.

More videos from the guy that filmed the attack that were on his Youtube account before being pulled are posted up on Liveleak. ATV's, dirt bikes, crotch rockets all weaving in and out of traffic.

What a bunch of jackasses.

Yea I think we see a lot of traffic violations in those vids :lol
So you can ride dirt bikes on the highway?

I did not mean to say that EVERY motorcycle rider is like that.
I said that the worst problem with motorcycle riders in that they ride in between the lanes and weave through traffic. Perhaps you know of a worse problem that motorcycle riders usually cause?

I've been riding a bicycle for 40 years (when I'm not driving) and I always assume that other people can't see me, unless I see that they see me by seeing the whites of their eyes. I ride on the side of the road in the bike lane though, and don't weave in and out of traffic.

You always have to watch out when on a bicycle in order to keep yourself safe, but on a motorcycle weaving through traffic that seems near impossible.

I suppose most motorcycle riders start out safe, and then try passing between cars at slow speed, and then do it more often, and then do it fast and faster as they gain more confidence and lose touch with common sense more and more until they start to act like riding between cars is business as usual. It takes a big wake up call to remind those people of how reckless they are being with their safety.

if youre on a motorcycle you have to ride defensively. Its like being at Walmart. Assume everyone is going to run into you as they wander around oblivious to the world around them.

I know. I would ride like I was invisible. I stopped riding alot because I don't want to be killed by some chick wearing flip flops, some old blind guy or some **** in a vehicle way bigger than it needs to be.
Even when people can see you they pull maneuvers that they wouldn't pull if you were a 18 wheeler (like left turns)

I think some want to chase people down that 'piss them off' and that isn't defensive.

PS. 'Look twice save a life' is a stupid motto

Oh I agree, I hate it when motorcyclists ride in between cars and in most States, lane splitting is illegal. Just that I read your post more as saying all bike riders do that and wanted to point out that some are responsible drivers.

Considering the height of the vertical pivot of the mount, it should have no problem shooting anything three feet off the ground at two feet from the vehicle and shoot at the ground at five feet from the vehicle from the sides and the back.

Rewatch the vid, genius. There's a bar block on the mount itself, beneath the barrel to prevent the gunner from aiming down and accidentally (or on purpose) shooting the driver. Since it's the mount that pivots, that same block becomes a hindrance when it comes to shooting things beside the vehicle.

Well, it wouldn't have to be designed that way. You could have a block around the front of the turret opening that tapers back and down towards the back. The block would double as a shield. There would be a roller on the bottom of the gun that would roll across the lip of the shield, preventing accidental shooting of the engine or the radiator.

The design could use some improvement. That seems pretty obvious.
The basic concept is great. By the way, it is also obvious that the gunner would not be able to shoot the driver, since the roof would prevent the gun barrel from aiming at him. The gun could however shoot up the radiator or the engine.

You should review the design.

lol what did those 50 idiots expect trying to stop an SUV on a public road after one of them brake checked him? I can't stand these thugs who are only tough when in large numbers haha.

Just saw it on the news. When you see him run over a bike is when he hit the guy that was hurt. The one he bumped wasn't hurt that bad at all.

From what I saw, the hoods on bikes were at fault. You reap what you sow.

Too bad that sow didn't involve 50 splattered craniums. :(

Mother of "biker" run over by SUV says "he'll never walk again" and wants justice.

Seriously, got what was coming to him, these tough guys surrounded the car, thought they were real cool on their ****ty bikes and got what was coming to them. Strength in numbers right? Remember that in your wheel chair.
Once you run over one, I would have continued to run them all of the road.

some reports still say he broke the bikers leg before he ran over the other 3 guys. Seems they still arent sure of correct info.

The New York City Police Department said a man driving a Range Rover with his wife and 2-year-old daughter inside Sunday struck a motorcyclist on Manhattan's West Side Highway, breaking his leg.
The biker who was struck by the SUV, 28-year-old Christopher Cruz, was later arrested and faces several charges, including reckless endangerment, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said on Tuesday.
Earlier an NYPD spokeswoman, Lt. Karen Anderson, described the original incident by saying, "It was an accident."
The SUV driver pulled over after the biker was hit, and the motorcyclists surrounded his vehicle, hitting it and spiking the tires, police said. The driver pulled away, hitting three more bikers in the process, police said.

One of my childhood dreams was always to ride a bike, I actually had dreams about it.

When I was 13 my uncle let me drive his moped on a deserted road once, it was amazing. I loved it.

but, sadly I never got one for real when I grew up. Sometimes I still think about it, I kind of daydream about riding a bike,
But I just can't, Ive seen too many horror stories coming from bike accidents.
I mean, just online alone some of the videos I've come across are enough to scare me for life

I kinda thought that the SUV driver might have done something to cause this to happen. I highly doubt the bikers went out looking to target some random person. That said, that doesn't excuse the threatening behavior.
