Been meaning to work on this guy for a while but been busy... anyways I was going to repaint the cuts today but was out of paint so I went ahead with the some what risky attempt of adding more sweat. To say I was sweating doing this is an understatement . What I as aiming to achieve was to add some droplets here and there and sweat beads...
these arent the best pics but you should get some idea... There is actually quite a bit more sweat than the camera is showing but the light was kind taking these shots.

Im just hoping this cures properly and stays the right color. Next up will be the cuts, probably tomorrow.

Yea I didnt want to go to mad especially on the face and I wanted to make the droplets different size but fairly small. Its quite subtle but very effective. Looks really nice when the light catches it.

how's the mirrors going?.and are you planning any touch ups.

Man been so swamped with work lately I havent even started lol. I've got the mirrored acrylic and the acrylic saw blade, now I just gotta buy some time. I think your bloodwork turned out great! Is it just red acrylic without a sealer? I really dont want to chance spraying anything on him. I want to try to fix the blood and sweat also like gypsyc (awesome job btw). I might buy a cheap plastic doll to practice on first...

IMO this is the best repaint of the cuts so far.(not mine)not got round to mine as yet(well I did a tryout)this was acrylic mixed with clear gloss varnish I remember reading.(colour match was the main issue as a lighter colour needs a few coats.)

Yea iv looked at these pic quite a few times.... he did a decent job on those. Il prob use epoxy to make it pop a little more and make them look fresh. Hopefully

And thanks friendlysam :hi5:

Had a go at the cuts. you are very limited in what you can do with them because of there position . I did try to change the angles slightly but its pretty hard.

Il try and take some better shots with lighting later on.

Very cool.
Makes me want to have a go but I have zero skill or experience.

Not even the placement, but its color I'd like to change. I'd like to brighten them up a lot.

:exactly: freaks me out to try something like this but I gotta give it a shot. The only thing pushing me over the edge is the fact that its blood and sweat, its supposed to be messy even if I mess it lol

Looks great gypsy, what did you use for paints for cuts/sweat?

Thanks guys. Im pretty happy how this has turned out and its quite a drastic improvement from straight out the box.

Im quite a comfortable painter but to be honest, anyone can tackle the cuts so dont let it worry you.
Just by adding a brighter red over the wounds will improve this.

What i do when I apply the paint, instead of brush stroking the paint on, I blot the paint. By that I mean load your brush, then dab the paint on in a downward motion as if you were painting dots. what happens is the brush hair will separate creating better depth and more texture. Have a look at the cuts on google images and use them for reference. you will probably need a few coats. Also do this with a very small brush like a 0 or 00.
If you make a mistake or dont like what you have done, just wipe it away with a damp cloth.
If you want to create runs, once you have applied the cuts, just use the brush with a little water, no paint , and brush the paint down using the water.

The sweat can be done 2 ways. You can use gloss varnish or 5 min epoxy. If your not confident, stay away from the epoxy. Thats what I used on mine but its a bit tricky and you have to work to the clock and keep repeating the process. I can let you know how its done if anyone wants to try and needs help.

The gloss is much easier and will look fine. Basically once everthing is dry, just gloss the wounds or parts of the wound you want to look wet and thats about it. If you want to add more sweat, use the gloss and again just dab on small dots to creates droplets here and there , to however wet you want it to look.

If you want to make sweat drips, again with the small brush, over load the brush with the gloss and put it to an area you want to make the run and basically let the gloss naturally fall down the statue.
I havnt done this on mine but iv done this before and it worked fine. Just keep in mind the scale of the statue in relation to the size of the brush to create the run.

Before you do this, always just have a little pratice on some card or something and feel comfortable with the paint and brush.

Like I say , just freshening up the cuts with a lighter red and not having them so neat and tidy will vastly improve this.

Hope this helps :)

I think it turned out great, and thanks for the tutorial.

Thanks buddy :) I hope it helps. There is not right or wrong way but you do tend to pick up little skills and tips from others along the way.

What I did notice straight away is how bland the original cuts are straight out the box once you have added some paint. I really dont like the back cut either.

But, even without the paint touch ups, I still love this piece and still buzzing to own him. I just wish I could display him properly with lighting but my current set up doesnt allow it.

But I will one day :)

I also had a little look on C direct yesterday, they have now sold out of this statue .

If there's ever a Jackie Chan statue on par with this Bruce I'd sell a kidney to fund it.

Got lee today. Huge compared to sideshow 1/4

However he came with mold /residue and black spots all over him

Couldn't believe it.

^that sux... somebody else on here not too long ago also got a moldy one. Hope you can get a replacement

Thanks for the directions Gypsy. I suck with paints, I get dizzy when I go through the paint isle with all the different types. Are those all acrylics, the gloss varnish too?

No worries matey. Yes you just want some red acrylic, nothing expensive or fancy , something like a brilliant red and some acylic gloss varnish. I can recommend Winsor and Newton artists gloss varnish. I usually go for that. I think you can get it all over the world..... Its about £8 a pot but it leaves a really nice finish and will bring it to life :)
