Well, According to David Chase, "There was so much more to say than could have been conveyed by an image of Tony facedown in a bowl of onion rings with a bullet in his head. Or, on the other side, taking over the New York mob. The way I see it is that Tony Soprano had been peoples' alter ego. They had gleefully watched him rob, kill, pillage, lie, and cheat. They had cheered him on. And then, all of a sudden, they wanted to see him punished for all that. They wanted "justice." They wanted to see his brains splattered on the wall. I thought that was disgusting, frankly. [...] The pathetic thing—to me—was how much they wanted his blood, after cheering him on for eight years. This wasn't really about "leaving the door open." There was nothing definite about what happened, but there was a clean trend on view—a definite sense of what Tony and Carmela's future looks like. Whether it happened that night or some other night doesn't matter."

Well the thing is, they kept switching to Tony's perspective over and over through the final scene and when he looks up BLACK

I take that as his last perspective of being dead.

Oh wellz, I guess it's up for interpretation.

Yup, read this a while back. He is pretty much dead, but Chase was saying in this interview is who cares. If he lives he’s most likely going to jail for a long time, have to watch his back all the time. I believe in the first episode of that season Tony saids there is no happy ending for guys like them.

Has anyone mentioned the "if you wanna go that way ,your gonna need a bigger knife".great moment and one of heisenbergs best lines

Its pretty much known he’s dead. But since we didn’t see it, I can understand that not being a sure thing. Sopranos ending, and series as a whole to me, was honest. They didn’t sugar coat anything. Fan favorites were getting killed off since season 2. Watching the finale of BB for me just felt like I was watching an action movie. Everything was just too perfect, and in my opinion some of the writing was a bit lazy.

It was like the A-Team (I love when a plan comes together) :lol But I still think it was perfect.

I could never get enough of Walt Alpha-maleing someone.

Well when I think about it, I don't think Jack's Power Ranger Nazis were that hard to fool :lol

that would be the only nit i would have for the ending. the methnazis were so worried about walt searching for a wire or weapons but don't search the vehicle.....:dunno

anyway i got the ending i wanted to see. methnazis dead, todd dead, that whore lydia dying/soon to be dead, jesse freed, hank & his parnter to be found, gray matter folks put in place............& walter pretty much going out on his own terms. although walts family is in shambles it was no happy ending but under all those circumstances maybe the best it could be.

Regarding the opening Grey Matter scene...

I always love Hollywood depictions of yuppies, and how annoying they are. Their conversation before seeing Walt reminded me of the beginning scenes of Funny Games.

That was pretty dumb.

Since the Schwartz's give the money to Walt Jr they don't need to worry about hiding the money anymore. It has a legitimate source and bypasses everything. So I would assume that Skyler, Holly, and Walt Jr will live a comfortable life.

I sort of wanted to see Walt Jr. get his cash from that Schwartz couple. Jesse taking care of Brock I guess. Hank and his partner's funeral. Skyler giving the cops them GPS coordinates. Lydia sprawled out dead on her bed. :lol

Not really, because they checked to see if he had guns on him (away from the car). Though, there could have been a bomb or something. But what was stupid is how did Walt 100% know for sure they were going to be meeting up in that trailer and not head over to the lab (to see Jesse) or something???then that turret would have been useless. Another thing is Lydia has got like a day to live, and it's not like she could do some damage in that time with her connections.

I honestly thought the last ep was ok.

It bothered me that Walt didn't call out Elliot on the BS he said on TV about Gray Matter.

All he cared about at that point was his son getting that money.

For me, the most satisfying part of the finale! I am glad Walt can rest in peace knowing they are going to be comfortable for the rest of their lives. It wasn't all for nothing in the end.

I would google it to find out but then I am sure I would be getting a knock at my door.

:exactly: I was searching for the whole 'how Huell got it from Jessie' etc. etc. a few weeks back and was trying to add as many descriptors in as possible to avoid any shadiness. :rotfl

Even though he was dying and on his last legs. So yeah, that was so not gonna happen.

Instead Walt did what I expected him to do and what he's been doing all along and that is to use his brain.
