Because it's called PASSION. He loves this world, and wants to explore it and film it and put his VISION on screen.

You don't like it? Don't see it.
But odds are, you'll be in line like everyone else...:wink1:

His vision can go **** itself until it's blue in the face...er..blue-er.

The masses were enamored with it in 2009/10. That doesn't mean they're still enamored with it and will be as late as 2016. I saw it three times in the theater but haven't had any inclination to pop the blu-ray in the player for a couple of years now.

.

So what your saying is that Avatar is like Titanic

If I want a Cameron fix I default to ALIENS.

Good point- groundbreaking years ago but now we've seen alot of the same and even better SFX....the thing is the sequels cannot be that great a leap over the original as it was over 2D before it.

So the real test will be not Avatar 2, which will do well, but 3 and 4...

Agreed with all of Celtic's GIFs. This is ridiculous, why 4 Avatar films from Cameron but only 2 Terminators? Why is he determined to fixate on this one so much?

He could have done a 'prequel' to The Terminator and showed the 2029 war with the machines that led to the discovery of the time displacement equipment. And he could have done it when Michael Biehn and Arnie were still reasonably....not old looking.

I liked Avatar but...3 ****ing more?

Because........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Fox will sink ONE BILLION Dollars into the three films....

I'm not really seeing the viability of this franchise long term. I sort of forgot all about it already.

I agree- alot of time has passed and there doesn't seem to be ANY "franchise(merchandising)" legs to it!

You can tell what really has the nerd backing by looking at tshirt websites. I've not seen an Avatar tshirt in years. I see more of the OTHER Avatar.

Maybe this truly has cross over appeal to the non-nerd base, but I think people will tire of it quickly, unless the next one is amazing...and original unlike the cultural mashup of the last film.

i enjoyed the first one, but i think its sort of died now and people have forgot about it. A lot of new things are out now. Cameron must think avatar is much bigger then it really is.

I'm pretty sure when the hype machine starts up again and the push the idea of "return to Pandora" and you see what he is doing, and make people curious to see what this is all about, that will get people interested.

I for one, don't mind the long wait. I say let it die down, then it comes back with more: holy crap that looks amazing.

But to each his own. I like stuff like this.

well maybe its going to be 2016.

Yeah but Avatar was made so Cameron could show off his pretty toys.

Pacific Rim was made so families could come out and enjoy a movie made for everyone.

But Pacific Rim doesn't try and manipulate you. It just shows you what it is, and lets you do what you wish with it. Check out this shot from the movie someone found.

Bums me out that JC isn't putting any time into other projects. Avatar was a good movie but I don't think it warrants another 3.

That's because most t-shirt artists are fixated on the same trends. Look at any site regularly and you'll see Pacific Rim and Studio Ghibli shirts just about weekly.

Oh my gosh Cameron subliminally put the word "so" in his movie? Or was it the number 50? Either way we're doomed! :panic:
