Cameron will only make AVATAR movies from here on out

If he's losing money then I will say yes how the mighty has fallen..But if he's makin a Billion $ ...no such thing as fallen when profits come in...I dont care what films one makes...its all about the dough comin in
 
If it is "done right" as he is implying, it shouldnt really be noticeable to most viewers. It sounds like he wants to use it for action shots and shots where the camera is moving fairly fast. A higher frame rate will reduce the blurriness and allow for cleaner slow motion. I think it can be done well in those instances, even using effects work to minimize the jarring "realness" of HFR.

I'm not a big fan of Cameron, but he does know technology, or at least employs people who do.

I did not want to see any of the hobbit movies in 48f (even before I knew they were going to be disappointing. ) but with Avatar and Cameron i will give this a chance. i will try to catch the movie on imax just to see what the fuzz was all about.

I hate avatar for a lot of reasons, but the CGI was not one of them.

the CGI in avatar looks better and more realistic than in the hobbits movies. avatar is filled with cgi yet the characters felt less cartoony. it is ironic how both movies are filled with cgi from beginning to end yet in that sense avatar did not piss me off as much as the hobbit

in that regard i think i am sure James will do the 48f way way better than lucas did (I mean Jackson, :lol)
 
Not hating on Avatar, but I will say this...

How the mighty have fallen. To go from T2, one of the greatest movies of all time, to Avatar 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10...

I can't wait to revist my favorite characters from Avatar!! What has "What's His Name" been doing since the first film? And how has Sigourney Weaver's character, "Dr. What's Her Face", changed since the valuable lessons learned (Military= bad, Nature=good) of the first Avatar?? I can't believe I have the good fortune to see another movie with these memorable characters!! Is General Evil Flattop in this as well?? Is he once again trying to turn the glorious planet of Pandora into a Facist Flattopia?? Only time will tell!!!!

Cameron is becoming about as reliable as HT. Remember when Avatar 2 was supposed to hit in 2014? :lol

2017? That'll put it up against Justice League and GOTG 2.
 
He seems to have far more faith in it than anyone else does at this point - or at least anyone whose looking forward to these movies is keeping pretty damn quiet about it.
 
and yet avatar 2 will still make 2.3 billion worlwide when it releases sometime between 2017-2022

not too sure about that- unless it is something so new and never done before i can't see it getting near the original box office
 
I wouldn't be sure either. The backlash against the first one has been really big (at least so it seems). Cameron will probably still manage to make an enjoyable film but will it be a huge event like T2, Titanic and the first Avatar? I don't see how. 3D is already old hat and it too has had a backlash.
 
I haven't seen any backlash for the first film in person. Only on forums and movie websites.

It was obviously overrated but I found it to be a very good movie. I've been meaning to watch it again as it's been several years since I saw it.

I'm excited for these sequels, mostly to see the world and whatever new animal designs they come up with.

As well as amazing CGI- Avatar does have some amazing effeccts- 48fps/3D already done with Hobbit films, so technically what is left? I say box office for the sequel will be non-record shattering like Cameron is used to...

Average audience loved the movie, the expérience (the best 3D ever period, Old hat or not he s the only one doing it right and people know it)
They Will want to go back to Pandora.
People know that Cameron always delivers.

Funny how people want so much to see him fail.
The Guy is so talented in so many domains that its not a surprise that he gets do much hate and jalousy.
The guy is a master, one if the grand filmmaker of our times.
His movies are milestones.
Get over it.

Hey I'm a total Cameron fanboy, I don't think he can do much if any wrong, but I do wonder about his ongoing Avatar project. We'll see.
 
Since T2 I thought every Cameron project was a bad idea. :lol Except for the first Avatar I guess.

I really wanted T3 and Spider-Man in the 90's so was annoyed when I heard he'd do an action comedy (great another Last Action Hero) or some dumb boat romance movie. Obviously I correctly surmised that True Lies and Titanic would be total flops for him. :lol

Exactly! How are any of the superhero films any different? All 3D with CGI action scenes. They all seem to still make plenty of money at the box office.

By the time this hits theatres it will be around 8 years since the first film. I think that alone is going to draw people back in.
