Star Wars Land will kill that **** :lol

I hope so.

Once the ride is open thats it.
They cant really change it. Even to fix rides when they break is a huge hassle because tourists get mad

Oh you just watch Madman Cameron. If he don't like it... watch out!

So what are they doing anyway -- just retooling the Jungle Cruise to be a "floating" trip through Pandora? Or is it a "virtual experience" like the Star Wars 3D thing?

he can keep pushing up the release date for Avatar2, 3, 4 and 5 indefinitely for all I care. I just have no interest really in seeing him milk this for another 10 yrs. As a groundbreaking movie in terms of special effects and how the movie was made, yes good and I give Avatar props. But story wise it just didn't grab me as anything else I have not seen before. yes I get the jist/message of it, but to lose one's **** over it as like the greatest movie ever.....

i feel the same way and wonder really what he thinks is gonna pack em in for three or four movies- staggered how far apart? ten years worth??

Could be worse, Cameron could have been cranking out a cynical cash grab sequel every year since 2009 and we'd be approaching the 8th Avatar movie by now.

Slow and steady.

:lol :lol

That makes me wonder how successful the movies will be if people wont even buy the merch

Well I suppose when all is said and done there will still "only" be five Avatar films which will be more restrained than the MCU, SW, DCEU, LOTR/Hobbit, etc.

I would take a creatively bankrupt cash grab of an unoriginal and derivative movie from a once amazing director over one he actually put time and effort into, but, maybe, that's just me.:lol

I hate the anticipation.
I think i would take some crash grabs just to get it over with

You can't rush art. Lord Jim will have the sequels out when he's ready.

Hell, most of you don't seem to like Avatar anyway, why would you care when they come out. Go watch your annual, monotonous comic book superhero and Star Wars movies. Or does Disney have to buy Avatar off of Cameron for you guys to get interested.

I still question whether anyone will actually see them by the time they're released. I mean, Christ, it will have been a decade since the first one and CG effects have come a long way. Visually, it may have been revolutionary for the time, but now? I don't know if it'll have the same impact when people have come to expect CG apes that look like the real deal because they've been so spoiled.

Do *you* even like Avatar?

Nope, I don't even care if the sequels ever come out. :lol

I have no horse in this race. I just think it's foolish to deride Cameron. Maybe he's just pissing around, maybe he's serious about all this. Who knows. If anyone knows how to tap into audiences and create a zeitgeist though, it's him. These constant announcements of date push backs and sequels have already created this mystique for an otherwise forgotten franchise. It'll either build up to something fierce . . . or nothing will happen because he has no intention of actually releasing anything. :lol Once a trailer comes up for it though, I think it'll be big. I remember hearing about James Cameron's weird Avatar movie for about a decade before it actually came out and that thing erupted into something I didn't expect to be successful.

Besides, things are going by pretty fast. 2012 or whenever this thread was started feels like yesterday. 2020 is right around the corner. He'll probably push the dates back again. Who cares. It's not like there's anything else exciting happening in Hollywood. It's all boring and predictable. It's been stale for years now.

Im mostly curious about the use of technology and the advancement of cinema.
Im curious to see whether the next movie will push forward or not

But i dont want to have to wait or hear about this franchise for 10 more years

Who cares, leave him alone. If his Avatar sequels come out, I hope they crush nu-Star Wars numbers, again. He's the only man with a plan that can save cinema and make yet another sequel for the ages!

Maybe he's just waiting to get the Terminator rights back in 2019 so he can put the Terminator universe in the Pandora universe.
