I found her exact quote:

It was...

“White men small brains match their small dicks give this momma some of that wonderful anaconda BBC preferably 3 at a time oh and pasty white men need to STFU about Wrinkle in Time that movie should only be reviewed by teen girls from Somalia not white dudes who have to pay for sex!”

This notion alone seems very racist -- and frighteningly narrow minded. Like types should be with like types? Is this that far from Trump saying a Hispanic judge couldn't fairly judge him? If the last 20 years have proven anything, its that people should NOT be left alone in their own private bubbles with like types.

Yep, she is calling for white male journalists and reviewers to lose their jobs because their voices and opinions are invalid unless they are interviewing white males or reviewing films starring white males which of course is a profoundly stupid and narrow minded position to take.

Plus her bigoted identity politics approach to who should and should not have jobs only applies to everyone but herself. Did she refuse her $5 million paycheck to play Captain Marvel as a way of standing up for the fact that in the comics she was actually a black woman for many years? Of course not. Screw women of color vying for choice roles in Hollywood when her own payday is at stake.

EDIT: lol at jye :lol

And I'll be very curious to read your "invalid" review, lol. Obviously I'll be seeing it too but after the second weekend. :D My daughter wants to watch it ironically because of its connection to IW and not at all because it features a female leading lady, lol.

She did cave some from the backlash did you see her latest comments recognizing previous strong female roles that have predated her role.

I said from day one her initial comment should’ve been..

“I’m honored to join the ranks of previous cinematic strong female genre charaters that paved the way for me to represent this wonderful character Marvel created”

BUT NOOOOOOOO lets ignore dozens of loved female characters that have come before. :slap

She’s pretty much now saying my prepared statement :lol

I think she’s realizing she done ****ed up and is now trying to save face or her career lol

Jye and Khev don't seem like they should be agreeing with eachother on this subject and yet they are. There's a degree of nuance going on there that even I'm having trouble understanding. God help an absolutist SJW trying to decipher it - ''How can I conveniently bracket these two into definitive good vs evil??'' :lol

I read that she
gets her ass kicked and has to be saved by Hulk lol

Probably. It was said in GOTG that Thanos was the most powerful being in the universe. The guy who said it knows CM and is in this film too, so as powerful as she might be, she probably isn't on Thanos' level.

Having said that, I'm sure Thanos isn't really the most powerful being, but at least he's the most powerful from the people that are known. I'm pretty sure Dormammu in the Dr. Strange film is far more powerful than Thanos.

Don't you hate when you didn't quote the post you were replying to and then someone else posts in the meantime, pushing your post to the next page and then you have to edit your post with the quote.

Hey remember my Endo that I so patiently primed, painted and sealed and then fell in love with the results and fruit of my passionate labor?

Yeah well I came home from work and found him in 3 pieces on the floor he took a shelf dive! :gah:

It's because as opinionated and fanboyish that jye and I are I still believe that he and I (and you and many others here) represent "normal" people. That's why there's never a political line in the sand between me and JAWS as conservatives and jye and Wor-Gar as liberals. It is possible to lean conservative and still call out Trump's juvenile BS and to lean liberal without being a batcrap crazy socialist SJW and most of the country still knows that.

I'd be just as pissed if someone said that black women need to shut up about Captain America. Heroism doesn't need to be "tribal." How modern Disney and so much of Hollywood fails to grasp that is beyond me.

I have no intention of abandoning the MCU. I just have no desire to see this film. IMHO Captain Marvel is a terrible character in the comics, she is narcissism incarnate. Her comics don’t sell yet Marvel keeps relaunching a new run, only to have it too canceled for low sales. It feels like Marvel are trying to push this on character on us. So, for that reason, plus Brie Larson’s big mouth, I’ll be going to see Alita again on March 8th.

Are u able to even see anything EXCEPT CM on March 8th? Cause it's International Women's Day. At least yesterday it was true - the only tickets for sale at my theater March 8-13 were CM.

BUT - haven't checked today and than may be because theaters are still shuffling schedules.:dunno

Meanwhile, can appreciate viewpoints like Jye's, the idea of folding a character into the greater MCU, etc. But for me there's product expectations after 10 years. Expectations that weren't met for me in IW. Things I expected from the Russos and/or the MCU. The Russos have talked about providing a satisfying experience and respecting characters, and I didn't find that to be the case in IW, IMO.

And it's unclear to me how much control the Russos actually have of the characters that show up, or their screen time percentage. Not that it's some big conspiracy:google - without studio money there is no movie - but from their hiring for IW and articles 2016-17, I don't remember a mention of CM as a primary interest. After IW, I quit believing anything anyone studio connected sez about the MCU, 'coz I couldn't get past the 6 minutes of Cap - and less for other characters - in an AVENGERS movie:(. Or Banner. And the constant jokes etc. Even when Cap and other characters were shamelessly used in marketing.

Also CM's never been a reason to read a comic, for me. IMO she's boring. So are the trailers. IMO it remains bad writing:( to shove a main character in with culminating arcs of established characters - characters that easily, and far more interestingly, could take on Thanos. Finally, think it's a flat-out miscast. Brie tries to sound tough and what pops into my head is the Mary Poppins TLJ scene - just - no. Just stahp.:monkey2

Forced characters are BAD. Always. Feel like Marvel just gave me the finger sign. But hey, movies are products, so I can walk with my wallet. Bummer for me 'coz I watched Avengers 1 last night and wonder if I'll ever be so thrilled w. some MCU scenes - like the suit-up scene in Avengers 1:love with Thor standing in the field, hammer raised...geez even the friggin' END CREDITS for TWS are stellar...:monkey2

Can see why folks would wanna see CM. But I just don't and already read the whole spoiler and end credits anyway.:monkey3

Awww ***t. Would it have broken from that shelf-dive anyway or do you think the new paintjob made it more fragile?

[...]Heroism doesn't need to be "tribal." How modern Disney and so much of Hollywood fails to grasp that is beyond me.

In my estimation, tribalism is the end result of social media, and more specifically social media marketing. Advertising used to appeal to the lowest common denominator to reap profits. In our time it *creates* the lowest common denominator, and tribalism sells.

I have a very bad feeling about it.

My only hope is that it will prove unsustainable in the long run. Wish I knew.

It’s funny that she doesn’t mention how the first captian marvel was a black Women. Guess that went over her head when she was preaching about equality. Step aside and give the toll to a black Woman

“I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color.
Am I saying I hate white dudes? No, I am not. What I am saying is if you make a movie that is a love letter to women of color, there is an insanely low chance a woman of color will have a chance to see your movie, and review your movie.”
Brie Larson.

Hey Brie
Monica Rambeau was Captain Marvel way before Carol Danvers.

This role wasn’t made for you. You stole it from a Women of color. Check you privilege!
See two can play the SJW game.
