But you do understand that the past has bearing on the present, right?

There is a point to all this

Were GOTG comics big sellers? The first GOTG movie is my favorite of the Marvel movies, not including IW. For that matter, IW might as well have been GOTG volume 3

True enough, Cap was often considered the most boring Avenger until TWS, neither Guardians nor IM far as I know were "top tier" characters. Movies put them on the map.

IMO the problem is PEOPLE and/or source material. Cap in any form is a legacy character. Guardians and IM had actors, directors etc. that set fires.

Srsly I tried:monkey2. CM in the comix - can't even remember which ones I managed (not the gross one) made me tired. Re the film even the trailers were either dull or seemed to be imitating Cap/Bucky (brainwashing, friendship) - it's been done and Cap/Bucky/Tony are a lot more compelling. Superpowering - there's THOR and SW. No commanding presence like Danai Gurira or Boseman...

The most appealing thing to me about the trailers was seeing SLJ gushing over the cat. The trailer actions scene train flip thing is just *meh*. So yeah, CM could've been an IM1 thing. But doesn't seem like it is. I remember seeing the first IM trailer and for me that was an instant hook.

Promisingly tho:cool::
HN Entertainment has learned that stunt coordinator Darrin Prescott is expected to be working next on Black Widow. Darrin’s credits include Baby Driver, Black Panther, John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, Gamer, Killing Them Softly, and Public Enemies.

It’s also said he’ll double as the film’s 2nd unit director (most stunt directors tackle both jobs), previously taking the role of 2nd unit director on films such as Deadpool 2, John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, Black Panther, Baby Driver, Captain America: Civil War, and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

UPDATE: Someone has reached out to HN Entertainment to clarify that Darrin will only be directing the action scenes as the 2nd unit director, but will not be the film’s stunt coordinator.

It's not evading, it's right on point.

Let the girls have their turn, I don't feel threatened by this.

As a matter of fact, as a father of 2 daughters, I'm happy they have female versions of what we had, when we were growing up.

Just cause the character might be a overly strong female, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it too.

Now your blowing smoke! :rotfl

I don't have any problem with Captain Marvel being super powerful (just like I have no issues with WW being stronger than Batman). It's just hard to ignore the insufferably unlikable actress that is playing her and of course the possible "Rodimus Prime" syndrome of a brand new character showing up from out of nowhere that no one likes or asked for and upstages the main heroes that we've grown to love for many years.

Mundane and cookie cutter villains.... its what I'm hearing from reviews.

Re: BL comments -- Ever notice how Hollywood assaults its audience months in advance in order to gain curiosity for their 'mundane' movies? Must be their new tactic to try and undermine inevitable bad word of mouth. Ironically, and hypocritically, Hollywood has taken a page out of the Trump handbook.

:lol :lol

Everyone laughed at Kevin Feige in 2008 when Paramount released IM and he said "I'm gonna build a yuge connected universe and Disney is gonna pay for it!"

Sure, as long as people are talking about it, they win.

Don't have the article link, but off Reddit:
And don’t worry about her just coming in to save the day. McFeely & Markus ensured in the Collider interview that not a single person will defeat Thanos alone. While Carol will be powerful, it will be a team effort. They said they didn’t want Adam Warlock to solve the problem because they already had a 10 year journey with the other characters and they are the ones that deserve to solve it. The same will apply to Captain Marvel.

Carol Danvers will be there to tip the scale back into their favor, obviously she will be important and have an prominent arc in the movie, but the writers insured that this movie will focus on the OG Avengers.

My problem is "important and have a prominent arc". E.g. taking up major screen time:mad::mad::mad:, when I hadn't been a fan for years because of Carol Danvers. On top of that is the limited time characters already got in IW - IMO characters I wanna see. Some that didn't show up, at all, in IW.:(

Also don't agree that she was needed in IW/EG, at all. Lots of ways to write a story. Marvel are bas*&^$ 'coz I'll be lined up with the rest of the world for EG.

You can ''let the girls have their turn'' sure but the problem is this

The more mary-sue like the protagonist is, be it male or female, the less enjoyable that movie is. And why not instead make the movie as good as possible.

When I think about it this is probably why Steven Seagal movies were never among my favourites. Or even take Commando - apparently deemed the most Mary-Sue Arnie has been - so it's perhaps not a coincidence that I've only seen it about once in my life. Many of his other movies I've watched countless times.

Die Hard 1 is awesome, 2 and 3 are pretty good. After that it goes completely off the rails for me because John McClane has become Superman. He, the character, knows he can do anything and come out the other side. And the films are far less engaging because of it. 4 is ***t, never seen 5 but heard it's worse.

Jimcap is correct that the Star Wars sequels are diminished by Rey being a Mary Sue. We've got a trilogy where the hero has already bested the primary villain in the very first movie. And although she didn't directly fight him in TLJ she still came out the better by recovering and escaping before he woke up from whatever knocked them both unconscious. Meanwhile the First Order was dealt a massive blow, a double whammy in quick succession of Starkiller base being destroyed then Snoke and half their fleet being destroyed a short time later - yet they'll probably still be a force in 9, completely without explanation. Where is the stakes in the last movie? Obviously Rey will beat Kylo - again. :dunno What tension can we expect?

Now, again, I haven't seen Captain Marvel. Also, with superhero characters you do have to give some leeway.

Because your falling into the trap that this is an Man Vs Women issue

It not about her being female. It about her being a terrible C list Character. being pushed on us. So Marvel could have their version of Wonder Women. Problem is CM is no Wonder Women.

Joe Russo has just stated again that EG will have a heavy focus on the OG team and that OG characters that had limited screen time in IW will be featured prominently.

Feige said the same thing yesterday...and used the words “IW ending was by design for specific purposes”

I also made the point earlier that GOTG were C listers, but they were the most prominent characters in the last avengers movie. I'm sure many people thought GOTG would stink before it came out. Thing is, we really don't know anything until we see it.

So tense and exciting, lol.

Can you say Cap and Hulk! :yess:

:rock :rock :rock

If CM doesn't ruin AEG then Brie's stupid antics will be a small footnote in the grand 11 year achievement that is the MCU. It'll all come down to AEG for me.

GotG were more like B listers, Plus they were likable and sold steady, CM was never either of those things.

I honestly wouldn't know, I've never read a marvel comic in my whole life. Well, I did read star wars comics as a kid, but that's pretty much it.

Everyone keeps mentioning the critic comments..

I found this comment much more annoying then her comment about white reviewers..

She cant even handle a complement and does not understand mother nature :lol She's an idiot but it wont keep me from seeing the movie..

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/f...ave-womankind-but-shes-doing-her-best-1185915

Larson's preparation for the stunt-heavy role included an intensive, four-hour daily gym routine with trainer Jason Walsh that eventually saw the 5-foot-7 actress dead-lifting 225 pounds, hip-thrusting 400 pounds and pushing Walsh's Jeep up a hill. There were days when the intensity of the training reduced her to tears and days when she got irritated by men at Walsh's West Hollywood gym who doubted her strength. "This guy watched me lift something really heavy, and he went, 'Wow, I can't even lift that!' As if he were the epitome of health," Larson says. "I said, 'Yeah, I guess you're going to have to rethink your gender norms.'

She had this comment also. Sounds like Steroids :lol :lol

Larson says the weight-training was as transformative emotionally as it was physically, partly because it happened to coincide with the early days of the Time's Up movement, in which she was deeply involved, occasionally hosting meetings at her home. "It's the time that I was starting to be able to lift a lot more and I was learning how to punch and kick and do judo throws," she says. "It was also the time that I was learning how to sit at a conference table and slam my hands on the table and say, 'You need to listen to what I'm saying.' And learning to not feel guilty about taking up space like that."

 Exactly

There’s also this on the same subject:

4EFCB8E0-AE86-444E-9E75-2E89CFE0A6A0.jpeg

Which kind of flies in the face of her previous point about the guy complimenting her in the gym, when she walks around with this mindset where she’s sizing up who she can toss around.

Let me also add I do jiu jitsu(which is basically a more ground oriented version of judo) and Muay Thai, and I’ve never walked around thinking about how I could toss or strike someone else.

She’s basically the female version of that old school toxic male, or trying to be anyway - which is probably why she has such an inferiority complex about it.

It also just occurred to me that she should be referred to as ‘The Toxic Avenger’ :lol

I still don't fully understand the negativity surrounding this film. Sure, Cap Marvel has never been the greatest of characters, but if it looks good enough for you to see it, then see it. I'm going to IMAX this sunday to see it, as I do all the marvel films.

There seems to be a small contingent of men who see diversity as a threat to something....not sure what? They jump on any comment that they feel is against white men, and then dislike anything associated with the person who said it...

It even seems to happen before they can honestly make much of a real informed opinion, since its mostly based on a single comment or two from a single person in an ensemble of hundreds, on something they have not even seen.

You can usually tell then from the following being used over and over in their posts...

SJW, Virtue Signaling, liberal, forced diversity, Mary Sue (films have had this forever) ..
;)
