Chris, got any pics you wanna share to get your thread back? I gotta go spread my special brand of whatever it is I do in one of Mark's threads now. He's talking about ferrets and blue stuff and I just can't let that go by without retaliation!

I do. I did some work on my Merc. Pilot skiff guard. I got a German SS helmet and dremmeled off quite a bit of the front of it. Im not sure I am happy with it, Im curious to see if any of you have any ideas. I may go with something else, maybe a firemans helmet??

There are some Knight helmets on ebay that may work. They have the rim around that would work for the back and the head part is relatively rounded. You'd have to hack the front and sides, but it shouldn't be an issue for Mr. Dremel. It was my first thought anyway. A fire helmet would work if you got the dome kind, but a more modern one doesn't seem like the shape would match your reference pic.

PM sent. I guess the question of the hour is: is it easier to have the rim on the base and cut off what you don't need and shape it, or get a helmet with the right dome and just mod the flared out part on the back.

You'll definitely make the right call. Any chance anybody knows what the original prop was from/based on?

You know what's so back-assward? There's so much positiveness here, it makes me want to do more cause everyone gets so psyched. Then I rush to get pics up even though I could probably do better. Then I wanna start something else. Hmmm. Now that I say it out loud, I think what I'm saying is it's all your guys fault in the first place:lol. Thanks alot!

Wow! Y'know, I'm a noob, so I never even knew you from before, but even I am gald to have you back! You've certainly livened the place up a bit since your return (and amongst this crowd, that's really saying something!)

I certainly wish some of the Freaks that were a part of the crew not too long ago could/would chime in again. Their humor, talent, and friendship is certainly missed.

Well, some of us new folks have got that stuff! Humor (twisted), talent (or what passes for, enough so we don't get kicked out), and friendship (plenty to go round!)...I'm looking forward to a fun ride!

Funny you should say tht, th first time Ilooked at the still you posted, I thought 'fireman's helmet' - how many are there in 1/6the scale, hough. Maybe also samurai hemet? The Germa helmet is good in most respects, it just doesn't go down quite as far in the back...noiw I'm gonna have to research this some more...

Sweet. Glad to have you around then. The talentless, unfunny people are welcome here too, but we like folks who understand we're all just big kids at heart, life's too short, and Star Wars is the best hobby of all time. These guys are great and frankly I was a doofus to bail like I did. Perhaps one of these days you'll get to starting something of your own, and we'd be privileged to see it.

Chaka-monkey, I'm looking at the screen grabs, and your SS helmet looks on the money, but its hard to tell at that angle, you got any side profile pics?, you perfectionist sob!!!

I hadnt thought of Naboo helmets, I will look at those. Thanks shock-au. :)

I think I need to lower it. I will probably go the German para helmet route or will just sculpt over my existing helmet to make it clumsy and bulky looking as in the movie.

Im not happy with it at the moment. Mark, I will probably sculpt some ridges onto the top of the helmet.

and Feroze...OW!!

I accidently stumbled onto something tonight. I was going through my container of cloth/leather bits for a piece for a different custom when I saw a couple of Hasbro X-Wing pilot vests amongst the mess. It then hit me, OW!! Those vests are perfect fodder for my Velken Tezeri. After seeing Feroze's Velken, I have been thinking on how to finish mine ever since. Up until now, I couldnt think of anything (short of sewing) that would work for Velken's coat. So with a bit of luck and Feroze on my mind :), I think I have solved my problem.

I began cutting the vests up and putting them back together to form the large vest for Velken. I then quickly slapped a coat of paint on it and did a crude mock up to see what it could/would look like. I was pleased on how well it looked...

Feroze, thanks for getting me thinking on this earlier in the week. I OWe you one mate! :D

Great GOOGLEY-MOOGLEY! Chris, you freakin' genius, I think you may have stumbled onto an elegant solution to a sticky problem. The stitching for the ROTJ outfits in Jabba's court is much narrower than anything out there - your unknamed skiff bastich is one example. Ree Yees is another. There's a viking tunic that people have been using for these guys because it has that sort of padded, parallel stitching, but the spacing between the stitches is too wide. The x-wing pilot vest is perfect. Hmmm, wonder if it would be possible to create a sort of shiny, leather look to make Ree Yees top...?

Wow Chris...this dude is coming along great.Looks as if I have all sorts of catching up to do....Lots of obscure Jabba gang goodness has been going on in my little hiatus

Oh, Man. All that fine Hasbro puffiness off the market forever:lol

You should have enough of these left over after your Red Squadron, you could probably supply everyone here with Velkin tunics!

Good eyes though. It looks great.

Thanks guys, it was pure random luck that I spotted this. Id rather be lucky than good anytime though. :)

Thanks. I actually dont have enough vests, I had to use 3 to do Velken's. I still need some for Vizam and Ree-Yees.

If anyone has any Hasbro X-Wing vests they dont need. Let me know. :)
