i decided im gonna take the 9 year old . if she freaks out ill just leave early and lock her in the trunk of the car and finish watching the rest of the movie.

The sounds like a good plan.

But really it might be a bit much for a 9 year-old.

:lol:lol Well you win the prize for best laugh of the day, especially after the bruhaha over Luke and my messed up ankle.

Now tell us you're kidding. You.. ARE kidding right? :monkey3:lol

I was surprised when I saw this guy bring his young kids to see Sweeney Todd. Was that you Hydrobud? :lol

See if they do more I'd like to see them maybe bring in some of the viral stuff. The one thing there was no explanation to was Slusho! That was a letdown for me. Overall though I'd give it a 4 outta 5. I just really liked this and like it even more since it was a new story, not a remake or a basis elsewhere other then the idea of monsters destroying cities.

I thought this film was AWSOME!! Growing up I have always loved the giant monster movies. This was IMO one of the best if not the Best giant monster flick. Don't get me wrong. Godzilla is my fav. giant monster but no Godzilla film has ever had me at the edge of my seat. This film did. LOVED IT!!!!

See it in the theaters and a theater with good sound. The sound was soooo important to this film. It really made me feel like I was in the middle of the action.

Easily the best 'giant monster movie' I've seen. I loved it. I get your points Dusty but you'd be surprised at what people can and have done with similar shoulder injuries, depending on vascular damage vs. soft issue damage, especially when the adrenaline kicks in. And you really laughed at the end? Glad I wasn't sitting next to you.

I read through the complaints that there is no explanation or origin to the monster. I for one am very glad there is no explanation. I think a bunch of exposition scenes from some guy in a labcoat would be a huge mistake. The Shining isn't about ghosts, The Birds isn't about birds and this film isn't about a sea monster. The Birds and films like it had no explanation for the events of the story and were far better films because of it. If you want to see a story explaining and talking about a monster, spelling out explicitly the whys and hows, this is probably not your movie.

Toatlly agree. The fact that you're just in the middle of this chaos and you have no idea what's going on is what the movie is all about. You start bringing in the scientists giving explanations and solutions and it becomes just another Godzilla flick.

Just got back from the 7:40 showing at the Regal E-Walk on 42nd St. NYC. I really enjoyed the film. At the end of the movie some guy stood up and asked if we enjoyed it. He then proceeded to introduce each and every cast member seated at our showing. At first I thought it was some A-hole just goofing off, it was Hud. Very cool. :)

That's very cool! How many of the cast were there?

Nah, the theater started filing out and I was with a bunch of other people on our way out to a late dinner.

We had a great audience for a NYC showing. Excellent and appropriate crowd responses which turned out to be nice feedback for the cast.

I thought this movie was f.@#king brilliant!! I loved the idea from the beginning that this would be from the perspective of civilians trying to survive, they pulled it off perfectly. You really care about the characters and feel for them when they start getting picked off one by one. The creature was awesome, the few glimpses you got of it from different vantage points were really cool too. The parasites were insane and the subway scene was classic monster movie stuff. The scenes with the military fighting the monster were really intense too, it was suspenseful, funny and touching all at once. I really enjoyed this a lot. :rock

My friend and I went to see it last night, and both of us got motion sickness and had to leave about 30 minutes into it. :monkey4 Totally sucks because I really did want to see this. Oh well, I guess I'll have to drug up on Dramamine if I want to take a shot at seeing it again. I think they could have gotten the same impact without the shaky camera work.

MAJOR Spoilers AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to ruin this for anyone. I myself did not see this but my five friends who saw the film did. At the end of th film after the big nuke goes off and the tape goes back to the "good day" stuff and the couple are on the ride. Well my friends said when the camera was pointed out at the water that you saw something fall from the sky and into the ocean. Meaning this thing is from outer space. Again I did not se this but my five friends swear they did. I will be seeing this again so i will have to look. If it's true it does not affect my love for this film one way or the other.

Just saw it last night, and I can say that I really enjoyed it. Definetly a different perspective than we're used to in a monster movie like this. It's always from the viewpoint of some higher up character or the military figures. I think some unknowing people may go into this movie expecting a pure monster film, but will be upset when they find it's about people reacting to the whole mosnter situation. I REALLY enjoyed this change, since I was getting tired of the old formulas. I sense some copycats on the way. Well, I hope Paramount is back to making Blu-rays within the next few months. This type of movie wouldn't benefit with HD like some other movies, but it'd help nonetheless.
