Speaking of the FCS playoffs, I was shocked that Maine beat up on Appalachian State yesterday. I doubt even if they could win the national title it could make college football fans of people here up north.

You and I going to have a problem again Josh?

Only if you insist on having to resort to calling names. I've already said stop it once to someone else. I didn't say it to see my post count go up. There has been plenty of people being not so cool in this thread but the name calling can take a vacation. We can do that right? :dunno

If a certain person is going to be a jerk with every other post and a mod doesn't step in, then they deserved to be called out. And you know who I'm talking about.

I've seen his posts as has Kara to which neither of us has said anything. We obviously didn't feel he stepped over any lines and hasn't called any names. So no nobody needs to step in besides mods. I know we're big enough to concentrate on football and leave any calling out to Mods.

We can do this I know we can. :duff

Okay :duff

Don't like what I say there is an ignore function.

Why would I put anyone on ignore? :dunno I'll see you around old man. :wink1:

In the meantime please dispense with the blanket statements and stereotypes such as....

Because as with most everything else in the world the south cant see outside is narrow view of its own area.

Personally, I think there is more leeway for trash talking and insults in the sports threads than others. But like Josh says, name calling can be a line crosser, and in general bothers me. Seems like we could make our points without resorting to that.

Didn't know the word "ass" would be classified as name calling. What's next, you can't call someone a "jerk?"

Are you going to throw in the disgusting word "retard" also or is it so many people do it that the mods just ignore it.

What about stereotypes and blanket statements?

Sounds to me like you (mods) have a pick and choose policy. Perhaps you folks need to get on the same page?

I hope one of you reply to this so we can get this straightened without misunderstandings.

There's obvious subjectivity involved, and no one moderator is gonna have the exact same rulebook as another. Some are going to enforce the rules stricter than others, but there is an infraction option for insulting other members, so it can and has been used. Dave doesn't give us a list of insults that are acceptable and a list of those that aren't, if that's what you are asking for. For me, unacceptable comments are those that really cross a line in terms of crassness or standards of acceptability on a forum frequented by reasonably civilized adults (recently a member said another member should have been aborted, and I gave him an infraction for it--I don't care who you are, that's unacceptable in my book), that are coming from repeat offenders who have made the forum an unpleasant place to be, or that are taking place in a thread that tends to go off the rails too frequently (again, I treat the sports threads a bit differently, though the NBA threads tend to push the boundaries even there from time to time). There is room for discrimination there. Not black and white.

And yes, a member with 7 posts who does nothing but insult and troll others gets a shorter leash than a guy with 5,000 who has proven himself to be a genuine contributing member, so I will pick and choose in that instance as well.

Just use your head and act like one that should know better. That's pretty clear.

No Josh, it's not clear. That's why you and I have had so many issues before. :dunno

Thank you for the clarification and making it free from ambiguity. It's a well constructed answer because it's precise and cites examples.

I'll move on now.
