I have a question has anybody purchased the LSB of Colossus? How is that?

Yup I picked it up and personally I LOVE it. I just wished that face scuplt was used on the comiquette. Forgive the quality of the pictures because they are from my Iphone but here are a few I took with both the lsb next to the comiquette:

The LSB head looks great! :clap

Yea Colossus is one of my favorites so I knew I was going to nab both the lsb and the comiquette...just kinda let down the lsb head wasn't used on the comiquette cause it looks a billion times better.

Great pics fborecki, the lsb and commiquette do compliment one another!

Thanks bro and I totally agree. I just need to get some bestas to better make the statues shine in all their awesomeness...well that and get some pro sculptor to fix that com's face. Poor poor colossus :slap

But the statue as a whole is simply amazing!

Why change the face just wait till the PF comes out to go with your set and you'll have three different versions of him!

I like the face on the comiquette more than the one used on the LSB. The details and expression just give it more life. The human head, even though it might not make sense to most people, looks even better.

Interesting reasoning. You're one of the first people I've heard actually prefer the comiquette heads more than the usual strong featured no lines design used for the lsb. If that is the case, congrats to you on having the Colossus comiquette the way it comes. :hi5:

The comiquette head looks weird, never seen Colossus drawn with lines on his face. LSB much better. Having the lines on the face and a switch out human head just show the designers don't even know or care about the character.

But the human head looks really weird. I dont know, I have seen some photo from another collector, I just dont feel that.

I agree I think the LSB style is more representative of the Colossus we all know from the comics but I wouldn't quite say it shows the designers don't care. Like most things you eventually run into the age old question SHOULD you update something old that isn't broken? when yes is the answer it doesn't mean they don't like the old take or want to necessarily replace it but I think they more so intend on breathing new life into an already kick ass character/design. For instance the outfit and design of the body sculpt I think fits Colossus to a T. He looks strong, sleek and in a nut shell a total bad ass. The face for me is a miss, but as mentioned a few posts ago someone actually liked it so I guess the head sculpt did hit the mark for someone. In short I think them answering yes this time hit and missedthe mark at the same time. The comiquette still is amazing in my opinion.

Most feel the same way as you hat he normal head just doesn't look right or more so what you would expect Colossus to look like. That said as I mentioned above the body design, pose and paint job is killer...so if the head is the ONLY issue keeping you from picking one up you do have options if you nab one.
1 try to fix it your self
2 find a pro sculptor willing to help/do the job for pay
3 as smooth so correctly stated, buy he PF when it comes out and then use one of the head sculpts from there on the comiquette because I'm sure they are going to use he classic face design for the PF. End point don't let the faces (if they are your only issue) keep you from picking up this killer statue.

If we were talking about them creating many representations of Colossus in the format within a year I would agree. The fact that you get 1 comiquette of Colossus and full statues years apart, you be respectful to the source material because that is what the fans want.

Adding lines to a face of a well known comic character with years of history is being disrespectful to the source. Hey if they were making 5 Colossus comiquettes and this was one of them sure go ahead no one would care. You make ONE comiquette of this beloved character and you are not even respectful to the comic art?

That's not caring about the fans as all.

They want to get creative, make many comiquettes or just be to faithful the comics.

Why do we need to fix these sculptures we pay hundreds of dollars for?

This statue is going to rot in their warehouse for a long time.

I don't think so.

Once Angel and Beast are released more people will be interested in this staue. If other Astonishing X-Men are made, then I wouldn't be surprised if the statue actually increases in value.

I totally agree with you in regards to the frustration of not getting the Colossus com face the way we all know and love him, trust me on that cause a part of me did hurt inside when I saw it. Now I'm assuming you didn't buy the statue, so let me ask you just from pictures you've seen is there anything else about the statue that really is off putting to you? If there is then I'm in no way recommending that you or anyone else that feels that way buy it. But if it is why would you want to keep such an amazing statue (excluding the head sculpts) from your collection? It def is frustrating that they chose to go this route on this com because we probably won't see another on of him in a while. Again though from my perspective the ONLY part of this piece that I personally would change is he head sculpt and if I have the means to do so, then why wouldn't I pick him up and just customize it myself.

As for the fixing these expensive statues, I agree this shouldn't be an acceptable norm...but if you love a character and most of a statue why not take the creativity into your own hands and make it what you want. Case in point how SSC chooses to release com's in regards to style and versions can be questionable at times and if a particular production run doesn't do anything for you then simply don't buy it. But if it does then why not grab it and if you think it could be better tweek it. Either way SSC gets it all right sometimes and sometimes not...when they don't as fans we can express our dislike of what was done but to state they don't care about what we want I think is more of an emotional reaction to what they tried to do. Last note there is nothing wrong with any editions of this piece staying in their warehouse if there aren't any interested parties and no one is claiming everything SSC makes needs to be bought. Buy what you like and don't what you don't.

The face and the size are the only things putting me off.

I will get the Colossus PF.

Agreed and I like you hope they take the more classic logical route, which if the past is an indicator seems to be the norm from a design perspective.

Have you checked Ebay ended auction prices lately? The Colossus exclusive is already selling for close to retail price and in some cases more.

It's not hard to believe, or laughable at that, to see this statue becoming a sleeper hit after Angel and Beast are released.
