I think this is more on the scale of if your car got stolen and you found out the dealership kept copies of the keys with all your info attached but didn't lock them up. would you buy from that dealership again let alone not be upset with them?

I couldn't have said that any better.

Well done.

^Exactly, great way to put it.

jye4ever has every right to be angry at CSC.....because of them our CC's were stolen along with our addresses.

I don't trust CSC anymore and I will never order from them again. That is the final story, worry about your own opinion.

Amen to that....Amen to that....

For everyone affected, it's pretty much wait and see and I can't stress enough how critical it is that you look at your online statements a minimum of twice a day for the next 4 months and keep in close contact with your CC companies.

I've said this before and i'll say it again, IF WE HAD OUR SS #'s at CSC, we would've been 100 x WORSE OFF!

There's no guarantee that they weren't able to get that info from somewhere else but I don't think they did.

Who really knows what multiple agendas they really have because them using our cards just for purchases could be only one piece of the puzzle...sheesh!

Regarding the emails, just make sure that you have your anti-virus and firewalls turned on because they or others could be phishing for more of our personal data.

How anyone....ANYONE who was affected can make asanine comments that others should just grow up and move on with their lives is a mystery to me and makes me believe that they're the ones in need of maturity and actually getting a clue.

Good luck to us all who where affected.

Why wouldn't you just cancel the card and have them issue you a new one. Much easier and safer than monitoring one that's already been stolen. It doesn't take any time to get your new card in and most places can issue a temp card for the week you might have to wait.

So far from what i have noticed the perpetrator(s) have my name, address, phone, email, and debit card. Everything that is needed to pre-order an item. They attempted using this info to apply for discover cards and a auto loan in addition to the orders they made with my debit card online. Thank fully they dont have social and date of birth. Best advice i can give you guys is that if they got your info from csc dont just block your card, try freezing your credit so that no inquiries can come in.

It took me five minutes to ask my bank to reverse the charges. Was I frustrated, sure. Some ********* out there tried to steal from me. Am I going to cry about it and worry about it for the rest of my life? No.

I think it's obvious who is being immature here. Chicken little syndrome abounds. Everyone should follow jye4ever's little b i t c h advice and check their cards a minimum of seven times a day for the next year, followed by a complete name change and enrollment in witness protection. Your credit card number was stolen! It's not the end of the world.

Do I want to see CSC go out of business because of this? No. Order from them, don't order from them, nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do.

Excellent advise and I definately did that as well, I just meant to keep an eye on everything else financial you have out there because it's unknown if they were able to get ahold of any other personal information of ours.

I'm hoping that this is the end of it all and it was just that one card of mine plus my home and email address and phone number but you never know how clever they are with stealing more data.

Thanks for the feedback though.

I hope those criminals do you a favor and use your stolen credit card to buy you a clue and some maturity although i'm sure your credit limit won't be enough for the amount required.

Truly remarkable.

I feel sorry for any poor soul who accepts advise from you.

Thanks kitty, you can put the claws away now. Are you such a drama queen about other aspects of your life?

My advice (note the correct spelling) to everyone, is call your bank if you notice anything out of the ordinary. They have policies in place to protect you. No need to get all huffy like some frantic woman. CSC still has my business, and there is no reason to believe they will let this happen again, or that they "allowed" this to happen this time. I would hate to see a decent retailer put out of business in this hard economic time because a couple of Nancy's can't control their emotions.

Identity theft is no small issue and should be taken very seriously and not be brushed off.

Some people who have had their identity stolen have had to pay thousands of dollars to reestablish their credit. The Experian companies don't care if your ID was stolen and used to make large purchases on credit that never get paid, and its left up to the victim to try and prove that they didn't make these purchases and hopefully reestablish their credit rating.

To ignore or dismiss the threat is completely irresponsible IMO.

Well said. But nobody is ignoring it, or dismissing it. I also think it's irresponsible and immature to blow it out of proportion and make it a personal attack against a retailer. It's business, not personal.

Spoken like an intelligent adult who wants nothing but 100% protection of his personal and financial identity that he's worked hard all his adult life to establish and who also wants 100% accountability from those he had entrusted that highly sensitive information with.

Excellent advise and observation.

The last thing i'm worried about at this point is if CSC remains in business or not.

If they do, great, it's not like i'm bringing down a lawsuit against CSC hoping for complete destruction of their business, i'm just freaking worrying about my own ass.

Nicely spoken Mesa.

Jesus, you really should do one of three things.

1. make up your mind
2. stop contradicting yourself
3. or get a freaking clue

I cancelled my preorders with csc, not taking anymore chances with them for a while.

Go back and read my posts. They start on page 27 of this thread. I never contradicted myself. I was always on the side of caution, and letting the bank handle the cancellation of your card and refund of any fees. You, however, have done nothing in this thread but moan like a little girl and dance around like an over-emotional moron.

Cry baby, cry. It doesn't help anything.

I hope everyone has as easy a time of getting their cards cancelled and charges refunded as I have. One phone call was all that was required of me. If you had a harder process, maybe you should switch banks.

As soon as I get my new Amex, I'm cancelling my visa due to this crappy situation. Not big on customer service. I've already cashed in my reward points. Unfortunately I can't do it sooner, as its the only CC I have for now.

Amex has good customer service. I think you will like them.

Guys, no need to fight on here.

However I'm not convinced that everyone's problems are due to the security breach at CSC. The timing is unfortunate with much larger problems going on in the credit card world.

Care to elaborate.

I think the issue is that Thomas released several statements on Fwoosh and RTM stating that, "...it was not the fault or error of CSC...this was the CC processor's issue." He also said that, "...we never keep CC info several weeks past the processing period, but we don't know how long the processing company keeps it.", and, "...only CC numbers were compromised." All of these statements have been, pretty much, proven false. That's why CSC has lost my business, and if he goes out of business, its his own fault. The breach was on his end and it was his error. It wasn't his fault that these crooks took advantage of his shortcomings, but there are consequences for all mistakes.

I haven't been hit... yet but I can't order from them ever again after this mess. There's just no way.

I'm thinking that perhaps I haven't been hit yet because the last purchases I made with them was before their website revamp and when you could order without creating log in info. i only ever ordered as a guest. hopefully that is preventing it?

No, I only ordered from them as a guest and never created a user account and I got hit. Bottom line, CSC is negligent for foolishly disregarding site security measures to prevent their database from getting hacked. They could have taken further precautionary measures to ensure that all transactions being processed through their SQL sever were safe. They left the back door open during their server move and it got hacked. I never had a problem with CSC before and was always satisfied with their reasonable prices and fast shipping but the inconvenience of having my financial information compromised and having to get new cards is something I can't forgive them for. Because they were careless they lost my business for good. I'll be shopping at Alter Ego from now on.
