Munchausen is a wacky, Terry Gilliam (member of Monty Python who made Brazil and the Fisher King) film from the '80s. It has a young, semi-nude Uma Thurman in it, as well as a giant Robin Williams with a removable head. I do not actually believe Leto was referencing this

No, when I said "Munchausen reference" I thought it was obvious that I was referring to *your* pic, not Leto's, but then I thought I'd sit back and just let everyone go back and dig up the old movie and pour through it for "clues" as to how he'd be playing the character.

Leto as Joker as inspired by Baron Munchausen would certainly be a novel take on the character. I can actually see a Joker like character being the hero in a Gilliam film, where Batman, being the defender of the boring status quo, is the villain. I posted that pic earlier because he has a nice, wide, Joker-like grin.
