Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Agreed- and hoping JL is not a carbon-copy Avengers film
I fear in an effort to make it more like marvel they will copy the tone of the movie , which we can see they already have made changes and have turned it in to a lighter tone.

But I still want to see drama in screen I want to see stuff like the final battle in BVS and not have it turn into a video game . A sense of danger

I think they're aiming more towards a U that feels like the animated universe so many of us grew up on, JL was fun and could be serious.

Well if he's really that upset with it I'm sure he can find someone willing to erase that mistake.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Is all of that true?? :lol

Sadly. Todd wants Spawn to be the longest running Indie book out there, so he's gonna keep pumping the book out until he hits at least #300. Bad as the recent direction is, at least it's better than Todd's pretentious stories post God Spawn. But yeah, current Spawn is all about that Social Justice. References to Michael Brown, getting shot by police officers while unarmed and naked, all that jazz. Apart from that, the story is just the same stuff recycled over and over.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I do enjoy DC movies the 3 that we have seem so far , with marvel movies, despite the fact that I do like them I always say the Nolan movies ruined comic movies for me because I expect everything to be just as good and that's not possible
Prior to that we used to give these movies a pass just because they were new and we are fans so we were biased . Stuff like ghost rider and dare devil can never come out now and still make money, a lesson world or war craft failed to learn, but no that we know what these movies can be turned in to if you do it right then stuff like green lantern should never see the light of day.

I think block buster movie fatigue can happen and this was the worst summer movie experience in a long time.

I don't see how movies will continue to drawn in crowds when you have each studio making at a min of 3 movies a year not to mention the action movies.

I don't expect to see marvel change its formula it works it just makes for a very predictable ride.

CW did not do the business of Avengers or AoU...
so yes it's getting generic and predictable with these characters who used to be fresh and exciting. Maybe Dr Strange may shake things up or it could be a huge box office disappointment...

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

With Todd at the helm, we're never gonna get a Spawn movie. Not to mention the book is currently trash. After defeating God and Satan, after becoming God and reshaping reality, Spawn now fights the ultimate fight. He now fights for... Social Justice!!!
I'm gonna need clarification for that.

As for the movie, isn't he writing a script himself?

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Counting down the hours till I get to see this again tonight, the audience (lets be honest, and I) were so pumped opening night I missed certain parts of the dialogue.

I absolutely love the comic splash opening for every character! this thing is a ride from start to finish.

A ride, probs best way to describe it. A fun ride at that. :panic: :D

While I don't think TDK trilogy is the end all be all of comic book movies I do agree that almost everything since then I haven't been able to enjoy as much due how well his movies turned out. To me, it's not the Nolan thing though, I'm finding that most superhero movies from decades ago were just a lot more original, better looking, and a lot more ambitious while also trying to cater to the comic book crowd. But with Marvel, they're really catering to the comic book crowd and a younger demographic, they're not interested in making great movies like Raimi, Singer, Burton, Nolan, and Donner did.

I'm gonna need clarification for that.

That Spawn movie is never getting made, I've been waiting like 15 years for it :lol

Supposedly Jaime Foxx has already been casted as Al Simmons.

Yea yeah, Todd has a HUGE Hollywood star who's like, begging him for the role man! Mother****er is desperate, you know? But my man Todd is a perfectionist and ****, you know what Im saying? Look at this: https://screenrant.com/spawn-movie-reboot-actor/

“I continue to write a page here and there. As I’ve said before, I’ve got a guy waiting on the sidelines who’s an Academy Award-winning actor who phones every three weeks going ‘Todd, where’s the script? Where’s the script?’… He came out to the office, he gave me his pitch, I gave him my pitch, and he’s like ‘Fine, let’s do your gig.’ The pitch I gave him was that we could then do, like, ten of these for the next ten years, and he wouldn’t have to be 22 for the rest of his life.

“The plan would be to do the movie, bring the movie out and then go back on TV with the animation like we did the first time. But the cool thing with the animation is we’ve got 90 minutes all set, ready to go, other than just sending it to an animation house. We’ve done all the voice recordings, we’ve done all the backgrounds and everything. So the technology is way better than it was a decade ago. and there’s some spectacular stuff that we can now do when we bring it back that we were never able to do on HBO.”

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

spotting the user reviews vs the critic reviews on RT is insane, complete polar opposite reviews. it seems like the GA/Fans had a great time with this movie.

He really should trying to speak with filmmakers that can work with him to carry out some of his vision on the big screen. Worry about casting after it's been green lit.

You know what? That's not that bad, we've seen a LOT worse when it comes to social justice in comics, sure they make a few points here and there with the "just walking home" thing and stuff, but at least they made the cops actual demons, and they're black cops too, so it's not all out.

I give them a pass, the black lives matters stuff is a bit more serious than the usual feminist rant, is that the worst you've seen? If that's the worst they've done in Spawn then it's not too bad.

Yeah, all of that's true. It's just that Todd can't cooperate or share with anyone that's not himself. He's extremely egotistical and vain. He keeps marketing his toys as "action figures" when they're just statues. The new Spawn writer dropped out after, what, a year, because Todd kept interefering. And thing is, he's not as great to waraant such a behaviour. I'd tolerate it from Morisson, Ellis, Moore, or Gaiman, all of whom are pretty level-headed, but not from Todd. Which is a shame,s ince the HBO animated series was brilliant.

Eh, it's not as bad as some of the Big 2 stuff, but they were more cash-ins than anything. These issues came out right when Michael Brown was killed and the shootings became worse, so it's kinda tasteless in my book. It's not "cringy", but it's not handled well enough. I stopped reading the book before #250 hit though. I bought a couple of issues during the era Todd was doing his homage covers with Downing, but I bailed. Which is a shame, since a rebooted Spawn could be great. But at this point, I think it's better to let him rest, and remember him as a 90s icon.

I don't mind that they keep doing it.

I occasionally read the Darkness and Witchblade, I love those, I understand they're still coming out, but I'm at around the #100 issues, it's pretty comfy and I look forward to catch up to it.

What I REALLY want is a Darkness movie, they were making it but I'm affraid it fell into development hell. And the games stopped at The Darkness 2 with a huge sequel bait :monkey2
