Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Blade alone saved the late 90's. :lol

I believe that Superhero Movies will define the 20 years from 2000 to 2020 and that Marvel will be remembered and celebrated as the architect behind that movement.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Hey guys!

Not a big poster, just a reader usually but wanted to say I enjoyed this film. It's totally a mess objectively with tone issues and it feels like two different movies at times but there's something about the characters that gets my imagination going making it enjoyable to watch. I think it had big potential but was disappointing on the first view and better on the second viewing when you knew what to expect.

While I'm not a particular fan of the gangster look for Joker, I'm open to his interpretation.

I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed (I went back as far as I could in the thread) but...

One of the things I thought was cool and helped me to get into the Joker's grill look was when Ayer said he got his teeth knocked out for killing Robin, but if he has the "Damaged" tattoo and the grill in Arkham when Harley is treating him, then how was she an accomplice to Robin's murder and THEN Joker's teeth were knocked out forcing him to get the grill and the tattoo? Fudgin' logic.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

:wave glad you enjoyed it!

Here's in my mind how the events went down. keep in mind that Ayer specifically said this was his interpretation, and isn't canon in any way. (yet)

- This is the second time Harleen has helped mista J escape, we didn't see the first.

- The AA scene takes place after his first escape.

- She helped him break out the first time (pre grill) but got away with it, this is when Joker killed robin.

- Batman beats the living hell out of joker, throws him back in Arkham.

- Joker gets the grill, and the prison tats "damaged" and the Arrows through a Robin on his arm.

- On his second stint, (the one we've seen) he's back and asks for more favors "I need a machine gun"

- However, this time Joker didn't let Harley get away with it scott free, and becomes HQ.

- She "owns that ****" as Harley Quinn and is glad to say she helped Joker escape to kill Robin.

- Harleen is already calling Joker "Mistah J" which reinforces their previous relationship in Arkham. "You gonna kill me mista J?" this also shows that the first scene with the two is most definitely not their first time meeting.

- The first time we see Harleen and Joker together in AA, Joker smiles and shows off his new grill after asking for a machine gun.

- "Dr. Qweeeenzell, what did you bring me this time"? - She's given Joker favors or special treatment before. apparently without notice, or she would have been resigned to a different patient. Hell, he could have even asked Harleen to just escape for a night so he can give bats a "present".

- She helps Joker kill Robin before she's HQ by aiding him in his escape.

- Harley Quinn is now an accomplice in Robin's murder.

Pretty much we'll just have to wait until Batfleck's movie. And there has been rumors that it's a prequel to BvS...

You guys are keeping the film in first place.

Ben-Hur is the final big budget movie of the summer, but it also looks set to be one of its biggest flops. Despite an attempt to draw in faith based moviegoers, the remake of the Oscar winning classic looks set to make a paltry $11 million - $12 million this weekend despite surprisingly receiving an A- CinemaScore. After a $4.1 million debut on Friday, Ben-Hur will finish behind War Dogs, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Sausage Party, and that leaves the door open for Suicide Squad to take advantage.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Suicide Squad will stay at #1 after grossing $6 million yesterday, and despite yet another fairly significant drop, a haul of $20 million over the weekend will be more than enough to make sure it's one of just a handful of 2016 releases to stay at the top spot for three consecutive weeks this year. As a result, it should end up with a domestic haul of $261 million, a number which you have to believe Warner Bros. is very happy with after those negative reviews.

Just saw this at the local small cinema. Glad I disn't drive 15 miles to a multiplex. What a pile of crud. Leto and Robbie were horrendous. You know it's a bad movie when Jai Courtney was the best thing about it.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I can't believe this movie is making this kind of money. This movie really should've flopped hard.

It's over. They won. Give up.

I'll see this eventually, but I have a feeling I'm going to feel the same way afterwards. :lol
