Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah the Arkham Batmobile seems like a "safe" choice to start with. They aren't the only company thinking about vehicles, Neca and Diamond Select are making large vehicles now for a reasonable price unlike Mattel. Only Mattel seems to have a problem making quality figures an vehicles and they still cost more than Neca and DCC products. They wanted $215 for the Ecto 1 and of course they cancelled the project.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, in fact the more I think about it the more confident I am that the Arkham Batmobile will be their first....

1. DCC have never made a vehicle before, but now they're coyly implying they're about to start. Coincidently right before the new Arkham game is due out, which just so happens to have a playable Batmobile.

2. The marketing for the new game is so heavily focused on the Batmobile that you can't just ignore it. I'm sure DCC know that too. It's not like the last games where the Batmobile was a cameo. I'm sure they know fans are REALLY going to want this one.

3. The Arkham figure lines have been, and still are, the biggest sellers for DCC. Even now fans still request new characters to be made. Making almost anything Arkham related seems to be a guaranteed sale for them. The Arkham line has constant proven sales numbers, so making a Batmobile for the line wouldn't be risky as they know the sales would be there.

The new game just seems to be the perfect jumping on point for DCC to make a vehicle.

I guess time will tell, but it makes sense to me. The animated series Batmobile would seem like a no-brainier for a first vehicle too, and one I'm sure a lot of fans would want (probably more so than the Arkham Batmobile) but my guess is DCC would want to wait until after sales of the animated figure line back up the fan demand for it. Whereas the Arkham line already has that.

Anyway, that's just my guess. Personally I hope we get them both.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Just been reading the last ten pages or so and I will defiantly pick up the BTAS figures that are released, not too fussed about TNBA figures though.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

BBTS listed all the other figures aside from Man Bat, EE has them all....weird

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

DC Collectibles released a group photo that just amps me up. These are going to look great together.

Also, I must say that, generally, I hate exposed joints, but I don't know what it is that makes them so appealing to me on these figures. Perhaps it's because of their basis in animation; the joints just make them seem like you'd find them in the studio or something. The pins in the hips and everything make them seem like 3D character models.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

That's because they are individual photos merged into one picture.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yep, it's still awesome to see what they'd look like together.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah the color of the figures matches very well with each other, it's almost like seeing the art.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

These are bad ass I can't wait to see what kind of packaging these guys come in.. HOPEFULLY collector friendly...

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm guessing these will never look right next to the old Kenner Batmobile and Batwaing, huh? My Kenner vehicles have only been out of the box a few times since 1993, always wanted to display them properly.

They might.

All these toys are based off of animation after all. The look and proportions of the Batmobile always varied, it's not like it was based off of an actual 3D model. I know once I get a few of these, I'm going to see what they look like standing next to the Kenner vehicles. I mean, it can't hurt right? I think DCC Batman and Robin standing next to the Batmobile could look pretty cool. Hell, you could even have the Batmobile or Batwing in the background on a couple of risers or something. I wouldn't rule it out completely, unless you were looking to put them inside, in which case, yeah, they wouldn't fit. :lol

Simply standing them next to it or having the Batmobile and Batplane next to the DCC line up should be fine. The sculpts on those vehicles hold up extremely well to today's standards, not to mention the durability with the quality plastic they have.

The figures will look too big next to the kenner stuff, but it might still look good if you display them properly. But the batmobile will look too small if you put it next to the DCC figures. However, you can still create the illusion the batmobile is just parked at a distance from Batman, that way the difference in scale is not too obvious and it will look good in photographs, but it all depends on the kind of space you're dealing with :)

Sounds like an idea guys! Thanks! The Kenner vehicles are amazing, and to think I was contemplating of selling them on several occasions over the course of these 20 years. :lol

Maybe once these are out I could build a Batcave diorama of sorts with the old vehicles added in, I always held off the idea since the Kenner figures weren't exactly magnificent pieces of art. This new lineup is pretty much the next best thing next to actual, 1/6 figures.

You own the entire Kenner series, don't you, DiFabio? It'd be kind of awesome to see these displayed with their counterparts in the background.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

What's interesting about the Kenner Batmobile and the design of the animated series car is that the vehicle itself is an optical illusion...of sorts. Since the front of the car is so large and the back so small, it actually creates the illusion that it's larger than it actually is, so if put the figure in front of the car near it, you can create the illusion that they are in scale. If you have any six inch figure you can try it and see what it looks like, just don't stand the figure next to cockpit becase that's the smallest part of the vehicle :)

Yeah, I have em all. Loose and carded/boxed (plus some crazy OCD stuff like variants and a dozen Combat Belt Batmans).

That's exactly what I'm thinking of though, a display of "then and now". Combat Belt Batman paired up with the DCC BTAS Batman, Glider Robin with DCC BTAS Robin, etc.
