This is getting the review scores I expected. Not that reviews are a big deal to me, but I was expecting it to be the usual third-part-of-a-trilogy level of quality.

well, played Dead Space 2's DLC last night: Severed.....thought it was gonna be more than 80 min long...

lol - way too short...well, ready for Dead Space 3

Picked up my copy tonight, may be a couple of days before I get a chance to play it with the back log of work I need to do. Really don' t care what any reviewers say, I've thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 instalments and plan to,do the same with this one.. Late at night.. In a really dark room.

These games were made with Surround Sound too - boy, have I come a long way. I remember I bought DS1 on Black Friday for $30...hated it at first cause I was hung up on it being EA related, but it really grew on me. If there really is a lot more story in this one, as some reviews suggest, I'll be a very happy camper. Do miss the original ammo though. Universal ammo seems lazy

Theres a few franchises, a very few, that I would blind buy a sequel for based on what we've already got. This is one of them. Bioshock, Batman Arkham-verse, Half Life, Portal, thats about it.

Could care less about reviews these days. These reviewers may as well be bipolar versions of Tom Hank's Mr. Short Term Memory Loss the way they talk **** on games like Call of Duty but then flock right back to the same thing every year right on schedule. I met the guy who did all the geek, game, and toy reviews for a big well known college here in PA at a frat party, he went to Comic Con everything, but could not have been less in the know about any of it or pretty much anything in general. He was just a typical frat boy but being groomed to do that sort of thing for a living as part of a coop which says alot.

I'm installing my copy now on Steam, dont know why I didn't p.o. it and have it rdy to go, guess I wasn't thinking, but I'm really excited to play this one with the apparent Thing vibe going on.

just finished part 1 wow what a great game. the sound in the game is what scared me the most. jesus this is probably one of the most scariest game I have played since FEAR.

I am so glad I played this game. the final fight was pretty epic.
I had me on the edge of my seat.

Installing part 2 right now Back to Back dead space action.
Hoping to play 3 by the weekend or sooner.

I've only played F.E.A.R. 2 but personally I found DS to be a much scarier game. I didn't flinch at F.E.A.R. 2. Was this your first time playing either Dead Space? Did you notice the hidden message in the chapter titles in DS1?

Anyway I'm on chapter 5 of DS3. I'm enjoying the game so far but it's definitely not as scary or intense as DS1.... yet anyways. Not sure I like the new way to upgrade weapons but so far that's my only real gripe about the game. I love the look of the really decayed Necros in this one.

Fear 1 was pretty scary back then but for sure DS1 is one of the most scariest games I have ever played. so far DS2 has not scared me like DS1 did.

I found DS2 more scary because it was less predictable. I didn't know which rooms were my safe rooms, which you did in DS1. Plus the last chapter of DS2 is just crazy.

Yeah. The first time I played DS1, me and my best buddy (who is an ex Army Ranger) were jumping like 12 year old school girls. DS2 was great but it didn't have that sense of dread or urgency as DS1. DS1 I was afraid to turn around the corner and was constantly looking behind me to make sure no Necros were sneaking up on me. DS2 just didn't have that for me. Another thing was the Ishimura despite being a massive space ship, felt very tight and claustrophobic where The Sprawl was much bigger and gave you more breathing room though I have to admit the nursery in DS2 is creepy as hell.

if you play it in single player is the other guy still there??

To add a little to what Biojex said, Carver is still present in the SP campaign but as a character who works off screen most of the time like Ellie in DS2 and Kendra and Hammond in DS. He shows up once in a while during cutscenes and such.

Carver does not function as a co-op AI.

I just attached a plasma cutter to my machine gun...I should be unstoppable now :lol

Share your setups people!

I found the plasma cutter to be sort of weak in the beginning, maybe playing on impossible has something to do with that though. I think it's good to have that machine gun to keep enemies back for a bit and then fire the plasma cutter when they've sort of slowed in their tracks. The necromorphs are incredibly fast in this game and they get up close and personal a lot.

My two handed weapon is a line gun with a force gun, similar to what you get in the demo. The line gun is slow but the force gun is really quick to fire so I use it to knock down enemies first. No tips on either tool.

My one handed weapon is a Plasma cutter with conic dispersal tip and a ripper blade. It also has an electric charge attachment and medic support for co-op. My plasma cutter fire and ripper blade both have electricity added to them.

What is pretty cool is that you can add the rotator cuff to a line gun and it essentially becomes a huge plasma cutter. The drawback is that it's rate of fire is too slow if you want to use it like one.

Ohh man ! I did the same thing at every corner and turned arround so much. one part I heard a noise behind me turned arround nothing but when I turned forward necro jumped out of the vent. I jumped so high.
the sound design in this game is just unreal. my worst moment in this game was not with a necro, was when my tension was so build up music was getting intense then all went dead. A sense of relief and then a steam pipe burst so loud that it almost made me fall of my chair.

crazy game but so amazing.
