What's the issue here? You can't buy tickets to a movie without first seeing its rating. If it's "R" it will be prominently displayed - it doesn't matter what the subject matter of the movie is really.

Parents need to stop blaming companies for their ****** parenting skills.

No one is going to buy your young child a ticket for the movie but you. :lol

Not only that, but you'd also assume they'd be sitting right there next to them.... or atleast HOPE they would be.

I'm simply saying that parents/kids will see the PG13 trailer for the movie, see the big MARVEL banner, and knowing that their kid has already seen just about every other Marvel movie in existence, won't pay any attention to the rating. Simple as that.

Or they may see the R rating, and knowing that it's Marvel will assume it's just a little bloodier than a typical Marvel movie and take their kids anyway.

Meh

Parents already let their kids play GTA, nothing new to see in Deadpool that they haven't already seen in that game.

American kids are already easily exposed to massive amounts of cursing, drugs, domestic violence, alcohol, sibblings getting arrested, school shootings, religious cults, so on and so forth for Deadpool to all of a sudden cause the demise of our innocent children. :lol

And within 15 minutes will no doubt walk out. If they sit there with their 7 year old in the midst of f-bombs and graphic violence and not do a damn thing about it...well that's their decision, and their parenting choice.

Working at a theater on the weekends as I do, I see no shortage of parents willing to buy the tickets and leave the kids there. Then they get angry when the kids are turned away from the theater because they're not 17. A lot of them think they can sign something and give the kids permission. They like to use the movies as a babysitter. They need to attend the movie with the kids for a reason. If something comes up 10 minutes in that they really don't want their kids to see, they can make them get up and leave. Can't do that when you're at home watching Springer reruns or "You are not the father". There are a lot of woefully inadequate parents out there today and it hasn't changed much in the last 20 years or so, unless it's gotten worse. Some parents just do. not. give. a. ****. :banghead

R is 18+ in Canada - I'll have to look it up, but I my belief is that even with parental accompaniment, minors aren't allowed in. We have an AA14 rating which means anyone under 14 needs to be with an adult.

My theater is actually pretty good on minors in R rated flicks. Me and my buddy snuck into Hobo with a shotgun and we saw this theater employee start walking up the stairs towards us and we were so worried we were gonna get in **** for theater hopping. Turns out she was coming up to bounce 3 teenagers out of the movie for not being 18 haha.

Best part was the theater manager was waiting outside the auditorium after the movie for everyone and we thought for sure we were toast. Turns out he had free movie tickets for us because the sound in the theater went all wonky half way through the movie.

Yeah, it's a balance of how much time I want to do my job and how much effort I can put into stopping the same kids 3 or 4 different ways. Some are quite persistent. How was the movie, by the way? Seems like something that would work as a 60 second joke trailer, but get old after 15 or 20 minutes.

I did get a chance to look up the rating system in Canada, which has been updated apparently. AA14 as it used to be called is 14A now. They also have an 18A which is 18+ unless accompanied by an adult. - I've never heard of this one before. Regular R is definitely 18+ only, no minors allowed even with a parent or papal decree.

Yeah, makes sense. I dont know what the procedure is for minors in adult movies whether they're escorted from the theater or whatnot. I've noticed that in just about every movie I've gone to, employees go into auditoriums and sign some clipboard. Not sure if they spot minors then or if someone rats em out. Hobo was pretty funny and violent. I liked it but I think you need to go in knowing what to expect. Which is a super cheesy flick. It's also very Canadian haha.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they've been that way for a while. I don't think I've actually seen an 18A film in the theater although I could be wrong.

Either way I'm glad this will be rated R and no kids get to see it! Just the way it should be.

It used to be, pg13, 16+ and 18 only, we didn't have R

The worst was the 16+ Rating, because you couldn't let children under 16 in even with their parents

We've got NC-17 here, which is the same, but (obviously) for 17 and under. It's pretty rare that a movie makes it to a big chain theater with that rating though, they're usually arthouse movies.

How long ago did this change happen? Maybe I'm getting all my ratings confused because I'd just look up the rating online and see the American one and figure it was that and not 18A.

There's a word for that. Ignorance
