Re: DISNEY / FOX Deal Close! Thread Still Open! Please Come In!

God Emperor Doom, man!
He created his perfect world and still felt like a failure.
Not because Battleworld was imperfect but because he himself wasn't good enough.

We'll never see something like that on fillm.

If they ever show that in the MCU, ******* I'll die happy.

Marvel’s dirty little secret... Thanos is a poosee.

inb4 darthkostis comes and creams all over this thread.

Jye thank Doom you changed your signature. Got tired of birds nest big eyes Woman. She’s creepy

Re: DISNEY / FOX Deal Close! Thread Still Open! Please Come In!

If Marvel Studios gets access to all the FOX controlled villians we won't have to slum it anymore with 2nd tier stuff like Thanos.

I would love to see a good Predator head/spine rip from Doom. Holy f- that would be epic. In fact a villain film where they are all asserting their pecking order over each other would still be awesome.

Thanos ain't second tier. He's the granddaddy of Marvel villains.

I'd rank 'em like this:

1. Thanos
2. Doom
3. Galactus
4. Apocalypse
5. Kang

Re: DISNEY / FOX Deal Close! Thread Still Open! Please Come In!

Vader forever ruined Doom.

And that's the thing - Disney desperately would love to have Vader not be dead. Well... Accept no substitutes. Doctor Doom, the inspiration for Vader.

We haven't seen Doom on screen. We've seen a simple minded moustache twirler and a burn victim but not Doom.

I liked that page, because it was implied he himself is degrading his face due to his belief that he's a failure. Secret Wars on the surface is DoomWankery, but if you look deeper it's actually a character piece.

Vader forever ruined Doom.

But Vader is based on Doom... And he didn't even cover anything past "scary guy in cool suit"...

Stark/RDJ might rule the superhero cinema screen but there is only one Doom!

If this does work out I actually hope they stick with Renolds as Deadpool but recast everyone else. It would be perfectly meta.

At this point, can anyone besides Reynolds be Deadpool? That's one character where I just can't see Disney recasting-that is, if they choose to use him.

Re: DISNEY / FOX Deal Close! Thread Still Open! Please Come In!

If the Disney deal happens 20th Century Fox will likely remain a silo within the corporate structure, just like Marvel, Pixar, LFL, or even Miramax back in the day.

I imagine the default for IP will require licensing even with both companies having a common corporate parent. The skids are greased, but it's not like a box of toys is dumped on the floor. When CBS split CBS studios and Paramount the impact on Star Trek was a legal mess. All new Star Trek shows will be meticulously licensed for characters, ships, planets, etc.... and a new show like Discovery can't just have someone show up in a TOS uniform or shuttle without licensing.

Marvel Studios is big money so I'm sure this can be overcome. But it slows things down and won't happen on smaller projects.

Negative the name 20 Cen Fox will remain with 20 Cen Fox because the company is not shutting down they’re just selling assets.

You will not see the 20 Cen Fox label being used anywhere by Disney it all will be rebranded.

Disney is not buying the 20 Cen Fox corporation they’re just buying IP from them that will then fall under the Disney brand.

Even if Disney is allowed to release the unaltered OT they still can’t use the 20 Cen Fox opening that is unless Fox financially agrees to it.

Complicated ****.

Outside of Marvel and Star Wars, I really want to know what else their $60 billion is getting them. If all they are getting is earlier access to Star Wars and the remaining Marvel characters, then they are really paying through the nose for them. I mean, they paid 4 or 5 billion for all of Star Wars.

Re: DISNEY / FOX Deal Close! Thread Still Open! Please Come In!

I've read stories where the film studio goes to Disney (name and all) but the broadcast networks stay with Murdock. Time will tell.

It sounds like this deal will be announced before end of year. With large sales like this there is a cool off period and during this time other interested parties will have an opportunity to make competing bids. I work for a company that went through a large acquisition like this. After the announcement this will still take 6 months to a year.

It’s alot of money no doubt but it does go much deeper than just SW and Marvel.

This is all related to their streaming service they’re launching.

They’re getting a much larger % of HULU for starters which will be probably be their framework for their streaming service.

Then you have to see the TV shows, broadband and production infrastructure, international licenses and a wealth of other services that come with it.

It’s huge.

In other words Disney will soon own your mortage lol
