Eh, fair enough, different strokes for different folks. But it's Inception/Begins/Matrix that are "stealing" from Doctor Strange's mythos/visuals, and not the reverse.

Not exactly...not when it comes to the look of the film. You can still tell the Dr. Strange origin without making it look like the Batman Begins or Inception movies. It's the style and look of the film that's making people say it looks like Inception and other Nolan films. Strange's apartment in the city even looks like Bruce Wayne's place in TDK :lol Even the trailer feels like a film directed by Nolan. The colors, the cinematography, the music...it's very much like a Nolan film.

The last one isn't from Strange IIRC, but it's Ditko, and Ditko is always a pleasure to post!

Mr. A! :rock :rock :rock

Eh, I don't see that, but to each his own. Doctor Strange had the trippy visuals and the origin story first. The Sanctum Sanctorum was always like this, the tone was always like this, verything is straight-up ripped from the pages of the book, so I don't see how Dr. Strange is the one who's "copying". Derickson's major inspiration was The Oath and Into Shamball, which looked like this:

So yeah, I don't see the problem here. The movie is just adapting the comics, and besides, I don't think Nolan/Begins/Inception have a monopoly on trippy visuals. Derickson's a horror director, so he's more comfortable with a somber, "dark" tone rather than the usual Marvel one.

That doesn't look like most Nolan films to me. Either way, I'm looking forward to Dr Strange.

Based on the concept art and the D23 footage, we'll be getting more of that, so I think the Nolan comparisons will die over time. His major theme is realism, but Strange seems to be embracing the craziness of the book. I can't wait to see the Dark Dimension, the Mindless Ones and Dormammu! I don't think we're going to see them in this movie, but who knows what the future holds?!

I hope Marvel doesn't bring "advance science" into this film like they did with Thor. I want to see some crazy stuff :D

that trailer was incredible. I dont even care that it feels like matrix inception rip offs, I loved both, the more of that style of movie the better. (Reminded me of Constantine too but I guess thats obvious)

This looks like it might be really trippy and i love it

At first I was really against that, but the more I think about it, the more "sense" it makes. Strange never was a straight-up Supernatural book like Ghost Rider with Satan, sacrifices, blood pacts and the like. More often than not, he tangled with Eternity, the Living Tribunal and Cosmic characters, so making "magic" just an advanced form of "super-science" and a branch of quantum-mechanics is A-OK in my book.

Now, a Ghost Rider movie would need to be full-on horror with Angels, Demons and the like, but Strange can get away with a bit of re-imagining. Mephisto, Nightmare, Dormammu and the like reside in other, pocket-dimensions, so there's a bit of "logic" there. It's not like Constantine or Hellboy which were rooted in folklore. Doctor Strange is more of a "science-mage", like the Authority's Doctor.

All I care is that I get to see trippy stuff and the lore done justice, the reasoning doesn't concern me as much.

We do not speak of that film... But Keanu made John Wick so he's forgiven...

i love constantine, i watch it every October, might not be the most faithful thing but as a paranormal movie it is amazing

Eh, I guess if you look it like that it's decent. But it's nowhere near a good Hellblazer adaptation.

Now this is the style of 'weirdness' that I think of when I think of Strange. I hope the visuals don't continue to amount to an Inception rip off.

Personally I'd want the kind of elements that Ditko brought to this characters world. They're so distinctive if nothing else.

Visual reminds me Inception alot, I think they should come with something else instead softcore rip off

I grew up reading Dr Strange and loved it.

I think it would be daring of them to have to include overtones of Ditko's abstract style in this rather then let themselves be influenced by other movies. Ditko's odd abstract shapes were such a hallmark of the dark dimension as well as the comic in general, that If they don't have at least passing nod towards it, well it won't be Dr Strange to me.

Man I hope the hyper realism doesn't completely eliminate his brightly colored adventures.

Damn, MCU is like a bullet train mixed with Godzilla, just get the hell out of its way lol.

Looks boring, deja vu, generic.
Tilda swinton is ridiculous.
The visuals are uninspired, yeah the source material is trippy and was there before but thats no excuse.
It has been seen in other movies they should have find original stuff to put on screen. Lazy.
Will see it because of Cumberbatch and because a friend is supervising the fx (for most of Marvel flicks actually).
Tilda swinton is ridiculous.
