While the first teaser didn't blow me away, I suspect Marvel is holding back the good stuff for future trailers. I'm expecting trippy astral planes, spectral monsters, and the works for future trailers. The film is still in early post, I'm actually surprised they already have that much CG work done. Plus hard to bet against Cumberbatch, most of us know that guy is gonna kill it as Stephen Strange.

Rectify that ****.

Hold on, let me go drop some acid first.

First spectral monsters revealed!

I think they might keep it simple with this first film. They will focus on his origin and then getting his powers, but nothing too extreme so that people can understand his "world." Think of how simple the first IM film was, before there was Ultron, Gods, Alien Invasions and other galaxies with talking ducks and raccoon. Imagine they went from Tony in a cave building a simple suit, to all that other stuff I've mentioned by the end of the film :lol It would be too much for people to keep up with.

I would love to see the Mindless Ones in this movie. But, chances are they won't include them. Warner Brothers could easily file a suit saying they were ripping off Snyderverse Superman :(

Classic.

Man, folks would be swearing that the Disney orbital satellite was beaming Mickey-rays then! :lol

The MCU already went cosmic with the first Guardians film, so I say they should swing for the fences here.
No need for a bunch of baby steps . . . show us some quantum leaps.
The original Ditko books broke so much new ground & this film should too.
Show us something we haven't seen before . . .
It sounds like Strange's amulet will have probability & time warping abilities.
(The Eye of Agamotto . . . possible Infinity Stone?)

This entity should show up:

That trailer was great, but God Dammit Marvel! I wanted that cinematography for the Superman v Mxyzptlk movie, not for Dr Strange.

This one should've had Kubrick-esque hippy dippy LSD travels, not Inception/Interstellar-like extra dimensional stuff.

Is magic represented like that in Dr Strange comics?

Am I the only one severely disappointed at Marvel's decision to cast virtually no POCs or Asian actors in this movie? That's all I could think about during the trailer.

Ironic considering they made a huge stink of that segregation thing in Georgia last month. You'd think they'd hire more Asian actors..

Magic in Doctor Strange is very different from magic in say, Ghost Rider, Hellboy or Hellblazer. Strange deals mostly with other dimensions, parallel planes of reality and the like, and not so much with blood, sacrifices and such. Sure, there are certain instances where that does happen, but Strange is kinda like a "scientific" version of magic, so I could buy the whole "advanced quantum mechanics" thing. Now, if they did it for GR I'd be pissed AF, but I'm willing to accept it for Strange if it's done gracefully.

As for the Inception part, it reminded me a lot of a 4D Tesseract, so I think that it's meant to showcase a 4D reality, or how we'd perceive it, if we could "see" "time" for what it is. Either way, Fiege compared it to Fantasia, the D23 footage was significantly more otherwordly, and filming just wraped, so I'd expect more Kirby goodness in the 2nd trailer and onwards.

Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo and Benedict Wong as Wong is not enough?
The Ancient One could be Asian but that topic is too old at this point, same reason why Mandarin wasn't Chinese.

Yeah of course it's 4D stuff, that's how a hypercube looks, and stuff bending on itself is also higher dimensions behaviour, like trying to flip a football inside out through the 4D, which is why I wanted that stuff to be in a Mxyzptlk movie, I didn't expect it here, I thought Dr Strange magic was like psichodelic as shown in the most recent series and like in the pannels shown above, not inception/interstellar type geometry.

I thought Strange's deal was other dimensions as in "planes of consciousness" or astral planes and such, not literally superior spatial dimensions.
