I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice the interracial stuff. That said, it never bothered me, not even in the least. I actually laughed when I saw Donna's new boyfriend - not because I disapproved, but because it's such a recurring theme on the show. Kind of like House and lupus. I never thought an agenda was being pushed on me. It might be scandalous in Britain, I don't know, but in America, we're the mutha F'N melting pot. Interracial relationships don't faze me, or most Americans, I'd wager.

I almost forgot: TOMORROW!!!!

:rock:rock:rock:rock

Thats exactly what I mean. It doesn't bother me as a politcal or social thing. I already believe that people should pick whoever they love to marry and not worry about race. I already buy into it as socially normal even though I don't even see it very often in my own life. I thought everybody did.
So its kinda like a joke now to see it in a Doctor Who episode because chances are if RTD needs a couple for some reason in the show he's going to make it interactial. Its like his standard default. I'm waiting for a scene of like 50 people holding hands in a mall and all of them are mixed or gay couples. :lol

The Moff on Matt (via Bishop37 on Outpost Skaro)

Excerpted (and edited) from the latest issue of Radio Times:

"Because Matt is the youngest to play the Doctor, people might be thinking they'll get a "young geezer" Doctor, but he isn't that. He's restored the more professorial aspect of the character - he's very much the "nutty professor" Doctor.

"What I least expected from Matt, given the nature of the modern Doctor, is that at times he's very quiet: the strong, quiet man. I suppose I thought instinctively that he'd be a leaping-about, loud Doctor, as we've got used to. Yet some of Matt's most powerful moments are when he's very, very quiet... very, very gentle, in a way that a very powerful person can be..

"Matt carries off the gravitas thing perfectly and has no difficulty at all in lording it over other people.

"And then of course he'll behave like a complete spoilt child, which is what the Doctor has to do – to suddenly become a huge big kid"

I was going through Gallifrey Base's DVD forum today and saw this post from today (with no replies yet.)

Probably not to the best place to post this but did anyone hear the Archive on 4 program about missing episodes? Did one of the official archive hunters hint at a good chance of finding an episode? And did they get what he was hinting at? I ask here because in the past DVD releases of such things have occured surprisingly quickly after discovery.

If this is true, let it be a Troughton. Let it be a Troughton. Let it be a Troughton.

If I could have any missing episode back I would probably want it to be an ep from Web of Fear first and foremost. a) because I love the story and b) because it was only a 4 parter (and ep 1 still exists), where as if we got an Ep from Power of the Daleks or Evil of the Daleks, there would still be alot more eps missing.

The mising ep of Tenth Planet would be my second most wanted. :chew

Bernard Cribbins was interviewed as a candidate for the fourth Doctor?!?!?

Bernard Cribbins said:
I didn't actually audition. But when Jon Pertwee was leaving, the producer Barry Letts - who died quite recently - interviewed a lot of actors, one of whom was me.

I went along and sat down and he said 'now then what can you do?' I said 'I'm a very good swimmer, I was a paratrooper, I could fight' - and he said 'Oh no, no fighting no, the Doctor is never seen fighting at all!'

So Tom Baker became the next Doctor, and one of the first things I remember him doing was knocking somebody out.

On the subject of lost episodes, the lost ep of The Tenth Planet would be my number one.

Think bigger, let it be more than 1 Troughton episode or even a complete cache of all the missing ones :D

Funny, when I saw Donna's new boyfriend, I just noted it as an interesting character trait about Donna and is consistent with what we've seen before. I know a couple of white women that only date black guys. I do think that if it's perceived as a "social agenda" says more about the viewer than RTD.

I think the choice to cast that way has been a pretty obvious and blatant thing. It's definitely an agenda on RTD's part, much like the original Star Trek tried for a more balanced crew racially and sexually. He's trying to show tolerance and break down racial barriers. Being an agenda doesn't make it a bad thing. I actually like it when shows encourage that and show inter-racial relationships, so I have no problem with RTD doing it. I don't think the fact I noticed it makes me a racist however in any way, shape, or form, any more than noticing there are alot of red cars in the parking lot for some reason today.

And then I'll add RTD has been very heavy handed at doing it. Again, that's not a complaint, but an observation. The important thing is that at least it's getting done.

the frequency that he does it speaks volumes about RTD. the viewer is simply observant for noticing that RTD does it more than any one else.

Whether you think its a good agenda or a bad agenda or just an annoying agenda, its still an agenda. I don't sugar coat things so maybe I'm coming off as having a particular problem with this agenda, but I do not.

I didn't think a darn thing when I first watched the show and Rose dated Mickey. No big deal. But its happened so frequently on this show now that IMO you really have to be blind to not notice how heavy handed RTD is with it.

BBC has a preview of the 11th Doctor's adventures...

Some interesting things pop up, including some old favourites...

I haven't found EoTp2 anywhere yet. :(

And so it ends. With a suspiciously familiar looking "cantina" sequence, Wilf in a gun turret that could have been on a certain Corellian freighter and an ending for 10 that was ripped straight from Star Trek 2.

I'll miss RTD and his original ideas

It's great that they've dispensed with the question marks on the labels, but his costume gets more boring each time. This guy looks like an Oxbridge teacher's assistant.

Having seen the preview for the new series I'll go as far as to say I'm pleasantly suprised,

Matt Smith's voice is lacking the grating, nasal tone of his predecessors attempt at an English accent which will make him far easier on my ears and if that running uppercut is a sign of a return to a Pertwee style "action man" who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty then I'm warming to Moffat as a producer already. One bit of Venusian karate every few episodes is all I ask :D

Good to see the Weeping Angels are back as despite the awfulness of "Blink" I liked the concept of them as baddies and the brief shot of the TARDIS interior looked good as well.

The new companion looks a distinct step up from wart face though I hope they get the inevitable "The name's Pond....." line out of the way ASAP and then leave it be.

Anyone know when it's supposed to start?
