He was pretty terrible in Jeckyll..

To be fair Jekyl looked bad from any angle, (I shouldn't comment as I didn't actually watch it) but James Nesbitt is such an over acting nauseating little piece of ^^^^ I tend to avoid anything he's in.

True. But for every spoiler these guys report that doesn't come true the report many others that do.

Yes. But a lot of the stuff that doesn't is pretty easy to spot on the ground. I don't see the harm in calling stuff like that out. Now PJ may well be the next Doctor - in fact it was reported by Rich Johnston weeks ago - but then we run up against comments from the BBC that nothing is happening until next year. So who knows, but healthy skepticism isn't really worth moaning about, surely?

I see you have something against eddie which suggests to me that you post at OG.

I don't have anything against Eddie. I just think he's a wind up merchant who gets his kicks having people hang on his word. Even if we ignore his blog and the hilariously OTT response he has to people who don't believe his spoilers, there's the minor fact that the only verifiable thing he's ever said was wrong.

Anyway, I don't really see why we're arguing. You seem like an okay guy to me, and surely the other half of "talking about spoilers" is dismissing them?

Eddie aside, Lee Mansfield is reporting this, 72if, and CO are all saying that PJ is indeed one of the front runners. So take that however you like (and yeah, they all pretty much agreed that DT was staying for series 5). I am not one of those who fawns over Eddie either but I don't dismiss everything he says. I think he is what he says he is (if a little overblown I agree).

I personally still would prefer Marc Warren or Sean Pertwee for 11.

I was just watching the entertainment slot on BBC news 24 and they were interviewing an actor from the new 'Survivors' series and he let slip a biggie.
The interviewer asked who else is in the show, he ran through a few names, Max Beasley, Freema Argeyman etc, and then he said Paterson Joseph who's gonna be the new Doctor Who.. he then looked panicked and quickley said potentially... potentially, seemed like he new he'd c*cked up!

Well....looks like he's being written out of the show...:lol:lol:lol:lol

Interesting read. Interesting to note that the premier of the original series could have easily been over shadowed by two other important things which happened the same day: the Beatles performed on the Royal Variety Show which is pretty much acknowledged as the birth of Beatlemania and more importantly the assassination of JFK.

And I'd like to set something straight. David WAS going to stay for series 5 but negotiations fell short. He wanted another gap year after 5 AND a flick. BBC said they wanted at least 4 full series uninterrupted, David and the Beeb couldn't come to terms, i.e. new Doctor. No hard feelings at all, some interesting rumblings but for all intents David WAS staying until the impasse.

Apparently that's not actually true. RTD claims they've known DT was leaving at the end of the specials for over a year now. To be fair though he lies a lot. So who knows.

No that's true. The BBC, far as I know, contracts their stars per series. David contract was done at the end of the specials so he WOULD be leaving if his contract was not renewed. He was ready to come back for series 5, some saying he still may, but negotiations broke down, the contract was not renewed thus David is leaving.

Why would RTD be saying otherwise?

Why would RTD be saying otherwise?

Lots of reasons. Depends on when the statement was made but as I've said it's not that it's correct or incorrect it's just a matter of contracts. David's contract was up after the specials, i.e he would be leaving with the rest. The BBC however wanted him to stay and David entertained the idea, negotiations were looking good (all the reports that David was staying) then they played hardball and now David is going but with no ill will toward the BBC. Although I've heard rumblings about an 8th Doctor comic strip entitled Wormwood with some questioning why exactly David would announce he is leaving now, these too good to be true leaks as to the next Doctor. And think about it, The Moff HATES HATES HATES spoilers. He told us so in Silence in the Library. So why would we be finding out so very much about something so very far away. Why wouldn't the BBC be holding out on this stuff closer to David's departure so as to really capitalize on it? These seem to be the things that people aren't asking. Anyway I digress, a few months ago David was all for staying, negotiations broke down and so he is parting ways. It's not all that uncommon from when an actor says they are totally committed to a role and then is dumped or leaves on their own not long after that statement is made. It's just the business.

Can you point to anyone official saying this? Because we do have people at the top saying point blank David was always leaving after the specials. This could be rumor and innuendo for all we know.

No just going off what I know of how the BBC contracts most of their talent, which is series by series. Don't forget you've had people at the top of Doctor Who saying the Master would never come back either. I look at this very akin to what happened with Chris E. He was brought on as Nine with an option to a second and third series, midway though there were some well documented issues and David was brought in. It's more complicated but that IS documented if you know where to look. I still think things are far more suspicious than anyone from Upper Boat is letting on though. This many spoilers about the next Doctor, this early, from the regime of a man that loathes spoilers? Fishy, fishy, fishy.
