How often in Who have they had multiple companions? I know the first Who had 3 companions at once. So there is precedence for that...is 3 a crowd?

Donna didn't fall in love with him - and she didn't really fit the hottie quotient that you'd think they'd want for ratings as Rose and Martha did.

Personally I'm all for another female - but an alien would be interesting as well (or perhaps a hermaphroditic alien - but then we're back in Capt. Jack territory...)

Peter Davison travelled with Tegan,Nyssa & Adric for a while and though all were good the problem was that it got difficult for writers to find enough for everyone to do and one of them usually ended up stuck on the Tardis,a hostage or something like that and in the end Adric was killed off.

And that was in the days when Who stories were 4 parts so now that the show is mostly one offs that are so much faster paced I don't think there'd be enough time to devote to building their characters.

I think he looks like a younger Gordon Ramsey

Since they cast Matt, I've been pondering what or who companionwise could work. Personally they've done the whole 'Doctor in love' thing to death. A male companion would be interesting, as would an older female (40's). I would welcome a return for Alex kingston, I think given they have 'history' she should re-appear hopefully in the summer specials/regeneration episode (Christmas 2009?).
For some reason too, perhaps Moffat's writing, perhaps Smiths 'looks', I see a slightly darker Doctor coming.

It just with the looks and the hair.. reminds me too much of the Twilight kid. I can understand publicity but he has a whole year to change this look and it had better change. I'll still watch but .. I just do not like his look. :lol

I thought the SAME thing when I saw him. That will surely get the teenage girls to watch it, but I don't know about the old-timer fans......

Personally I think Matt need not change a thing, he, for me could walk in in his own clothes and start filming. I think the whole look 'works'. And I'm 40 so my 'first' Doc was Pertwee. However/whatever he looks like or wears it can't possibly be worse than Colin Baker!
I'd also quite like the Doctor to change his clothes occasionally, Hartnell did all the time, he even wore period costume sometimes, Troughton only varied slightly, Pertwee was a real clotheshorse, Baker(1) variatons on a style, like Pertwee, Davison got stuck in a rut, Baker(2) what went wrong there?, McCoy Simple variations, McGann now He needed a haircut, Ecclestone changed his jumper once to our knowledge and Tennant 2 suits and a pair of borrowed pyjamas!
I just hope the costume dept goes with Matt's style, and dosen't stick him in a 'costume'.

Awesome! My son loves Galactic Heroes style toys and Doctor Who. I just showed him those pics and he flipped out!

Forbidden Planet has them available for preorder for £4.99 for a two pack or £9.99 for a 5 pack with 15 different figures available. I wonder if I should preorder there and pay the extra shipping or wait for WhoNa...

I got my first look at the Time Squad figures at work the other day and they are nicely done.
Pity there's no Classic ones though as I'd be all over them.

Are they available already? Or is it a "they're in the back room" sort of thing?

I think they are "in the back room" and won't actually be on sale until the new store catalogue comes out on January 19th.

What does everyone think of the rumours of lilly allen being hotley tipped as the next compasnion.

The Matt Smith casting really took the wind out of my rumor-discussing sails. We'll spend a couple months discussing Lilly Allen, and then somebody else, then there will be blood drawn over whether or not the casting of the new companion relates to US politics and when the dust settles, it will all be for naught.

That said, enough with the female companions already! :peace
