That's why I sort of lean towards the idea that whatever it is that is building up on the surface of this figure could be related to something being trapped inside the rubber because it wasn't handled properly, which would make the varying effects make sense, some that don't show it at all, some that show it worse. Of course there's always a chance some of the people saying the have none are looking for serious fluid buildup aren't spotting the just shiny effect like mine had and dismissing it. When mine started, if I weren't on the lookout for there to be an issue, I may not have seen it, and ultimately it may have been the constant wiping that made it as bad as it is right now, so someone with a case as mild as mine started that doesn't spot it and doesn't wipe it could have it remain minor and not be aware. There is a chance there are people with absolutely none, but given how many it's affecting, it seems like odds are everyone has something of some degree and it's a matter of who's getting it bad enough to notice or really looking for it to notice.

If thats the case, which I do believe. Snake isn't out of the woods yet. When was the figure released again? It can't be 2 months yet...

I was just reading this on Toy World HK forums...

"I got mine like 1 month ago, it was fine b4, had a look today and discovered some oil stains around the lower abs region....
Not impressed!"

I believe the HK release was late December, which lead to all the feelings of rush when the release was slated for Jan/Feb, it got put out 1-2 months sooner than projected.

Hot Toys replied to my email...

Hello,

We are very sorry to hear about that.

Concerning Batman oil problem in abs area, it was caused by the circle sticker and plastic bag of the belt, please take apart the circle sticker and plastic bag of the belt, then you can slightly wipe off the oil by finger. The oil will not affect the body surface if you can wipe off the oil once leak out.

Appreciated you follow the above method to solve the oil problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please feel free to contact us if there are any problem.

Thank you for your support for Hot Toys products!

Thanks and best regards,

Can anyone enlighten me what circle sticker they are talking about?

Basically that is rubbish! My bats has had no belt on for a week now or so and it is still leaking daily so how do they figure that one out?

Exactly....& wiping it off with the finger?
I also thought this advice was similar to the one given to Maulfan earlier.

This is exactly what i thought would happen, they know this will hit them in their pockets where it hurts so they are using the big bucket of sand method!!!

Complete B-S!
The oil on my DX came out of the box with oil on the abs above the belt. Not near the circular sticker. I reckon they are starting to panic incase of A. thousands of returns or B. Some very bad press in the collector community...

HT makes great products......but their customer service with regards to the numeral defects for the DX Batman is really giving them a bad reputation.

I'm somewhat part of this now but mine is more like what Dino described. It's so subtle though. It's like the effect if you eat a small packet of nuts and handle something. A gentle shine to it not glossy.

This pic is MaulFan's but as an example of where mine starts in the white lines.

Other smeary parts is at the blurry white. Ironic that both figures are the exact same parts.

It's in a room thats 18 - 20c/64 - 68f. Both figures arrived dry.

What I really don't get is why the likes of Snake Eater he says his is fine, I get mine 2 months later and here you have it.

Vodoun, i am so sad you got the problem......I think you need to attach a thermometer to the oily area to keep track of the temperature and move to a place with lower humidity to live if you want to have a perfect figure. Sad = (

I can just barely smell it but I have to go really close. It actually reminds me of my old Hornby train sets I use to have.

My abs from the last pic above cleared up quite some time ago even before those photos I posted in the main DX thread. When I looked closer I saw a smidge of oil process behind the tip of both belts as it's touching the body.

This is now the only place it now somewhat leaks but it takes quite a long time to build up.

Photo originally belongs to MaulFan.

I'm going to see what happens come the morning with both belts off. Interesting how both my figs are producing the exact same parts. Strange that.

Vodoun, what's the point to put the silicon gel pack on the stand in an open area? what r u doing? Seems u r quite pathetic......
Later on you may have to deal with the peeling problem, which will come out later.
So Vodoun, get ready for the long lasting battle..........ok?

He's not pathetic, he's being cautious. For all you know he might store them in glass which can trap moisture.

And the peeling problem was on batch 1, and that was happening straight out of the box. Maybe batch 2 might get it in the future, who knows, but there is no need to be rude to a fellow collector.

You are right

So upon inspecting, with both belts off 12 hours later with the belts off the part below the abs is dry. The abs too are dry and what's the plastic circular sticker? is that the plastic sticker that holds the magnets in so they don't drop out the back of the belt? or is this something else?...

Lower humidity? do you even know how cool 20 degrees actually is? you couldn't even break a bead of sweat in that. It's not even cold either to create moisture.

The gel pack can last for many years. Good for u to collect them.

But use it in closed cabinet, not in open area :lol

I don't permanently display my figs out in the open. So I left them there until I deal with this and feel comfortable to put them back in their respective boxes.

believe it or not, i saw this in another forum.

To fellow bros having Batman DX "Abdominal Oil Excretion" problem . . . . . . below is te cause.

1) The oil residue is most likely mould release chemicals
2) These are present UNDER the rubber/silicone suit
3) "Excretion" due to room temperature, from the areas/trenches surrounding the abdominal "pads"

Solution?

Undress the Batty and give him a bathing!
Use only biodegradable washing detergent

Thats rather extreme to be honest. I think I'd rather keep it in below that way if it's moist the goodness can't go out of it quickly.
