Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

Lordy, the PERS is awful (it's obvious this is one of those instances where that system killed the likeness). He does look better than the first version when wearing the sunglasses, though. Guess it just depends on what scene you're into.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

So many contradictory opinions on these sculpts, its unreal. What one person sees as a strongpoint another sees as the biggest flaw etc etc.

I think everyone can agree that the PERS has caused more problems in this case though.

Personally I think I was a little harsh at first. Mix the shape of the face on the DX with the paint and defined lines on the MMS and I think somewhere in there would be a perfect Arnie.

I never thought the sculpt on this looked great, but it sure as hell looks like sh** now. HT really screwed up with this one.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

Yeah, and I really think it goes beyond PERS the more I see it. Way too young looking even with the glasses on, like he's 16 years old.

I'm waiting for that creepy "opening the box" video guy. Things look accurate in his videos.

I'll eagely save OMG's 70 beauty shots but I'm not sure I'll get a sense of what it really looks like other than his opinion. OMG already said it good and better than the MMS.

*cough* Enterbay's sculpt *cough*

The whole area of the eyes is a disaster, no argument there (I think they contribute to the sculpt's inacurrate youthfulness). With the glasses on, I still think he looks great. Better overall facial structure than on EB's and a big improvement over the MMS version (less-squished and not quite as aged; the MMS one looked more like a hybrid between T3 and T2 Arnie).

I think these are the best ones from the bunch of close-up portrait shots:

You may really have to play the angles game with this sculpt to get the most out of it. Kinda like how every body who has the DX12 Batman is tilting the head down to make it look better. :lol

With the glasses on, however, it's exceptional.

For a while every new Hot Toys release looked more and more lifelike. But for the past half-year, every new hot toys release appears more and more toylike.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I'm sure I'm in the minority but all these new Hot Toys figure's are starting to look the same, especially the eyes and skin textures.

I guess that's not a bad thing but I used to see these figures of the characters as individual and unique. Now? They're all beginning to look the same. It's pretty strange considering different sculptors work on different licenses.

This "derp" PERS feature is getting old in my opinion as well as the off color skin tones and other general features (like removable hair pieces). They're starting to look like animatronic toys than real collectible figures with solid, hand crafted head sculpts.

I saw that photo set.

This thing needs the sunglasses on to look amazing. The oogly eyed PERS does not compliment the actual stature of T-800 one bit.

But this is indefinitely an upgrade over the older T-800 release for sure. Sculpt is fantastic. I just can't get over the eyes.

Btw, Enterbay just released a full on detailed shot of the 1/4 T-800 BD.

Rorywan made a thread discussing similar observations. I must admit it didn't bother me at first but with each new release it's becoming more common. The only figure that's really wowed me in the last few months is Iron Monger ... and he's a robot :lol

EDIT: actually Fury is pretty good, probably the best of the rest.

Agreed. There are a few exceptions, but I've been feeling the same as well. And they're really overusing PERS. As much as I can't stand Bill and his shenanigans (but then again, his poor business practices have nothing to do with the talents of his sculptors and painters), his people just showed how it's done. Forget gimmicks and focus completely on realism.
