Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - DX T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I feel the 89 Bats DX is the lamest DX ever because lack of alot of accessories and HIGH price. Even a reused DX01/02 base! There I said it! This DX is well worth the price tag.

At least that was an iconic character that they've never done before.

This isn't a DX. It's a 2010 T2 T-800 with PERS and some tiny gimmicks thrown in. To clarify, I'm not mad that they're remaking stuff. Just bummed that this is considered a DX nowadays. If I can get him cheaper, I'll do it (since I don't have an Arnie from the second film yet), that's about all the enthusiasm I have. Definitely a cool piece, but the decisions behind it are keeping it in the shadow of the other recent Terminator news. Now THOSE are some figures I'd happily pay top dollar for.

Batman actually comes with more things, and while his base is reused, it's not as bad as this uninspired Tron thing. Plus Batman hadn't been done before.

Oh and Batman looks like a Bruce Wayne in cowl shrunk down to 1/6 scale. Terminator here makes it seem like Arnold has a few deformities.

I am all over this release since I sold the original piece for a lil profit. It looks stellar versus other items announced over the past few weeks.

All well said- hate on this DX release beyond me.....:slap why why why

if it included a BD sculpt, even a slightly bd one like the end of the Cyberdyne mission, there'd be more yays than nays. I'm not goign to lie, this would be a no brainer if it came with another sculpt. as of right now, it's still a maybe for me. though, the more I look at the more I like it. the price is what is really what's getting me the most. I can have this for $180 at AE with my reward points which definitely isn't bad for this IMO

I can see future DX's being more of the same thing. They got people into the DX with iconic characters and some awesome figures; they probs feel now that they can do a half hearted job on their DX's and at the same time charge the extra money on top due to it being a 'DX'.

Have the first release and picked up most of the assessories shown with this DX. Wish this had more battle damage, BD secondary HS. As it stands it's an easy pass. Hot Toys not seeming as impressive too me as of late. :dunno

I don't get how Hot Toys made a nice BD face for a character like Marcus Wright, but they can't make one for one of the most iconic characters ever? :cuckoo:

I like one or two guns. Other than that, what else is there to like? :huh

T-1000 KILLED this release in terms of value and "stuff" and he wasn't a DX.

I don't want them half-a$$ing the BD figure. If they included a single BD headsculpt with this and nothing else I'd be p!$$ed off. A true BD T-800 requires a lot more than that. Its really best to keep it as a seperate figure. The only annoyance is that most of us didn't need this one, we'd kitbashed it already with COOmodels parts and we felt pretty much sorted for this look.

hey, just like the comments on the other re-releases/revisits/2.0's/3.0's/4.0's, this is great for those who missed out the first time around and don't want to pay ebay prices!!!!!!! woooo!!?

It's simply a case of what it should have been....

People expected a Battle-Damaged version as the next T800 Predator, whether T2 or T1 and this is neither.

And With a DX people expect a diorama base, two headsculpts or outifts, a plethora of accessories, PERS and a higher price tag

This only has the PERS, Accessories, which aren't complete enough and a Higher Price Tag. :(

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - DX T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

The board was down for me last night, so I'll share my thoughts now.

First off, the headsculpt doesn't look too bad. I personally think it's the PERS eyes that make it come off as weird. The irises are definitely too dark. If you were to brighten them up, they'd be perfectly fine. It's still a better likeness than Enterbay's 1/4 (I'm not even kidding, I personally can't see Arnold in the EB figure at all; it looks more like some random German dude without the glasses IMHO).

Secondly, I love that they included the Cyberdyne Showdown accessories. I passed on the first T2 Arnie and in all honesty, this how I'd want to display the character. It's my ideal representation of the second film's protagonist. Having that said, I wish this wasn't a DX. The accessory load is ridiculously light and if they only wanted to give us enough goodies to replicate that one scene, the figure should've been a standard release and cost no more than $200. As it stands, it's a DX. Possibly the most half-assed DX in history. Check out the Bruce Lee they did: the thing boasted two headsculpts (both with PERS), two bodies, two sets of clothes, and one of the most elaborate dioramas they've ever manufactured.
A few DX's later and this is what we get? Are they trying to imply that real leather, PERS, and an uninspired attempt at a base makes this thing worth $70 more than the first one?
They should've included BD parts. A bashed-up headsculpt, a shredded arm and leg, and tattered clothing for alternate display. That's all it would've taken and you know what? Adding those things wouldn't even be overboard for a DX! In fact, it's the perfect amount of stuff.

This whole release just feels like a placeholder so that they can make more money by giving us what we want in the future. But if that was their game, they should've at least made this a regular figure. Either that, or a 1/6 DX Police Shootout T-800. Yeah, that character doesn't have too many accessories, but he could compensate with the fact that they haven't done him yet. In a nutshell, the problems with this one are A: there isn't enough stuff and B: it's an incredibly obvious remake. One of these could've been resolved if it was either a regular release or a DX of a more-different Terminator. UGH, WHY IS THIS A DX? DO SOMETHING MORE WITH IT, THEN!

Just wanted to add that the Jack Sparrow DX is on Sideshow's GC Eligibility list. If a figure that perfect managed to make it on there, this one will undoubtedly end up with the same fate.

I stopped reading after this part. :thud:

The collector in you still wants it though. It's all part of the Hot Toys plan.:wink1:
