Thanks guys.

Well, it's either this or the SS Big Chap for me... I will probably go for the LE, 1K is the GST mark here in Aus so the legend would cost 300 more with the 10% tax... I wonder if the deposit counts with customs. I guess I'll have to call them and check it out before I decide.

Big Chap, Legend or Limited!! :panic:

With the Episode 3 Vader helmet selling in the $800-$900 range, these are a LITERAL STEAL. The discerning collector cannot go wrong with either.

Thanks guys.

Yeah im pretty sure the deposit is counted: they take the entire value of the item into account (excluding shipping costs) when determining if you exceed the 1k threshold. If you exceed the value, they whack a 5% duty on the items value and they whack an additional 10% on the value of the item + shipping costs + the duty itself. A tax on a tax!

For the legend Version, It's touch and go with the gst threshold.. At the moment the aussie dollar is pretty strong so should be ok... But who knows how the aud holds up when shipping begins.

Thanks guys.

I’m down here in Aus as well and I’m no maths expert but isn’t 10% of $1000 = $100. Can you explain why it would cost an extra $300, Thanks? Im a bit worried as i have purchased the tie as well

So now that we know the prices...

If you had a choice between buying one of these two helmets or the SSC Vader bust, which would you choose?

$200 difference between the limited edition & legend + the 10% gst (which is $100)... I think thats what he meant by 300 bucks.

But the gst will not be $100 bucks. It'll be more.

The formula is as follows:

Customs Duty = Item value x 5%

GST = (Item value + shipping fees + customs duty) x 10%

Total tax = GST + Customs duty.

Also, items that are above $1000 AUD WILL be seized by customs... You will have to complete some customs release form and pay for the associated fees to have it released. That's another 90 bucks i think.

Anyone from OZ imported items greater than $1000 into australia before?

To, the fact its made from the original is the selling point. I wish it were cheaper, but I know that's notin the cards. All my higher end sw stuff is ep IV only( with boba the exception).

I know that the ROTS Vader was $899 for the limited edition but I want to say the Signature was something like $1049

Unless you're in love with the unmasked portrait, it's the eFX helmet hands-down. The Sideshow helmet just doesn't look right IMHO, and it's really a life-sized statue and not a replica.

the details in the sideshow are too sharp -- as if they molded or scanned an Don Post or other and then proceeded to clean it up - because it seems to have the right worbles in the right places , but sharpened edges and flattened lenses shallowed out the nose... the eyebrows are also so sharp that the highlight that shines off is really thin

Then the dome on the ss is a completely new piece having a similar dome-to-face proportion as a ROTS, but the dome is not as large on an OT helmet.

It's a nice display piece, but it wasn't made for accuracy -- it was made for dramatic effect....in somecases these are more detailed than the actual props -- with really subtle details here and there that the cameras then wouldn't necessarily pick up -- unlike today's HD cameras and filming done in 48 fps...

My biggest concern is that based on the priority level eFx appears to assign to their website, all we'll hear on Wednesday morning is the sound of servers crashing and customers who have been waiting so patiently for so long pulling their collective hair out...

With only 250 of the legendary edition available, the traffic at 9:00 am sharp will be formidable. If they fail to prepare for this, we could have rioting in the streets (and I'll be there torch in hand).

Well, if that's true, then I don't know why them selling now for what people paid for them is an indication these being priced here is a steal, as the other poster put it. Is it because these helmets are better rather than comparative market value? Probably just answered my own question. :peace
