You actually think if this was made by mericans it would come out any better? As if the magic of merician hands mass producing this would be the same as lucky charms sprinkled on poop... :dunno

Or or I guess you could change it from "a few extra bucks" to double or triple the price! Now would you have bought this for $1200?

It isn't so much the nationality of the people making it, it is more a case of instant access. If SSC employees had the production line in their own back yard it would be much easier to keep QC up and communication could be instant if a problem did arise. With the rising costs in China, the price difference may not be as great as you suspect. Some very high profile companies are moving away from China, Humbrol for example (Airfix etc) now produce a lot of their stuff in the United Kingdom which is a much more expensive place than the US. Their products are great value against the competition and the quality is excellent.
 
Yep, Americans would produce it better, and China is known for producing sub-standard, poisonous, defective, and generally horrible crap.
 
People only complain about broken products they spend $400+ on because "it's the in thing to do"? That's an interesting point of view.

Yes, they do have to get things right when we're paying them hundreds of dollars and they've been in this business for over a decade.

and in that decade they've grown quite a lot... And btw.. I was referring to the extra $20 they gave us who actually ordered this LSB.. You know the elder one that you didn't order but showed up in this thread to complain about... :grouphug

I'd love to know the EXACT reasons for this instead of the generic "unforeseen production difficulties".

There is no Sideshow-hating bandwagon. Customers spend tons of cash. Customers get subpar product. Customers are offered crappy refunds. Customers are annoyed. No one here is hating on Sideshow just for the sake of it.

Just because they make some quality collectibles doesn't mean they get a free pass for the crap they ship out. It's 50/50 with them when it should be more like 95/5.

Do you remember when people were being offered a measly $50 partial refund for their broken $2,000 Wolf Pred LSF? There are dozens of cases like this where SS just tries to go for the easiest way out. They deserve every bit of criticism they get, and when they do something right, like the Engineer statue, they'll get some praise.

But yeah, people disappointed with Sideshow, people who voice their complaints about inferior products, are just on a "bandwagon".

I'm not picking sides here because I like you both (and I don't want to be crossed off your Christmas card lists) . . . but I wholeheartedly agree with this (except the 50/50 - they've screwed up stuff I've bought lots more than half the time).

I'd be WAY happier to pay 1.5 or 2 times the prices to get high quality - but i know that won't be true for everyone because we all have different collecting habits and budgets.

Yes, I own the engineer statue. I'm interested in many of Sideshow's collectibles - whether I end up buying them or not. Just because I do not own one doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion of it's quality, or clearly see the defects in photos, read about them in comments, etc.

And no, I never troll. You should look up the definition of the word projection.

If that happened I'd definitely have to cut back on my purchases, but knowing that each purchase I make will arrive in excellent condition with excellent quality is more than enough to make up for it IMO.

So, I guess I can't say that the QC on the Alien LSB was pretty bad since I don't own it. Despite the fact that virtually everyone who does own it has posted complaints about the QC and photos of the damage. :slap

If that happened I'd definitely have to cut back on my purchases, but knowing that each purchase I make will arrive in excellent condition with excellent quality is more than enough to make up for it IMO.

Here's a thought - how about Sideshow release in 2 tiers - the "standard" edition at regular prices, and the "executive" at the higher price where quality control is absolute at every stage of production/shipping and you get what items looked like on the website when we ordered them.

Given their problems over the last 6 years I know which I'd pay for.
