Wanted to share this story with you. My friend Kevin worked as production assistant and then eventually in casting, and one weird thing that he told me was lots of celebrities do not like for anyone to look at them in the eye. If an extra or any worker gives them eye contact, they will scream and cuss out that person in front of everyone, or on other occasions they will refuse to perform all together until that person has been ejected and/or fired. To this day he doesn't know why; he said they just F'N freak out like wild animals.

Anyone who acts like that is a loser, IMO. I'd never bow my head to anyone. I was taught to hold my head up and look people in the eye, I would never change that for a prima donna.

that happened with Madonna recently too no?

She asked that the people that were there that day had to cover their face and not look at her while she passed by, I don't remember how many, but I remember reading the news,

I have heard that Jennifer Lopez doesn't allow anyone who helps on the set to look at her when is there. I have also heard that Elizabeth Hurley refuses to hold her own umbrella in the rain.

It's an act though and everybody's eating it up. Kinda hard to deny it when Warner himself says, "I wanna be the man everybody loves to hate." :lol

It's fine if his little act is making him money, there's nothing wrong with that. My only problem with the guy is that he spends so much time on his image that by the time you finally get past the make-up and lipstick, you realize the music's nothing special. If he were a woman, he'd be Lady Gaga. Same message, same types of gimmicks to get it across.

I'm probably biased in saying this (pssh, more like definitely :lol), but Manson isn't fit to lace Trent Reznor's absinthe. Don't know where that huge ego of his came from, seeing as the only reason he was able to make it was because NIN financially backed him, took him along on tours, and wore his t-shirts at their own gigs. You'd think he'd be more gracious. If he had a rags-to-riches story about how he got to where he is on his own merit, I'd understand.

I think the whole "Trent carried him" argument is highly overrated. Manson didn't even come into his own really until Antichrist, long after any ties between NIN and MM were severed. Though, honestly, you want to talk about an egotist, Trent certainly takes the cake. :lol

Trent was actually one of the producers for Antichrist.

And hey, he can be as egotistical as he wants; he started out as a studio janitor recording his own demos after-hours and the first record company that gave his work a shot previously only released TV show tunes. Now he's an Oscar-winning composer.

Seems like you're trying to justify one ******* over the other. :lol

:lol I probably am, but my point was that one of the two is actually justified (IMO). My comments aren't needed for that.

Admittedly, I'm also a bit miffed that the posterboy of dark music happens to be a clown who spends more time applying make-up than being truly creative. I guess Manson's more about the angsty side of the medium. Trent used to be as well, but not so much anymore... doesn't anyone care about the artsy-fartsy stuff?

Facts he's never, ever denied. But then it's no different than practically bathing in cornstarch to try and look more "industrial." :lol :nana:

Trent never said NIN was industrial. :nana: If some of the music sounds the part, that's a different story (especially since those songs are only a small fraction of his catalog and the labelling was generated by the media). He rightfully credits Throbbing Gristle and similar bands for creating the genre, but never once even listed them as an influence.

As for the cornstarch, well... that was purely for live performances in that particular era, rather than a consistent image for the project as a whole. You don't see his face plastered on album covers with the stuff (you don't see his face plastered on album covers period) and even in off-stage publicity shots, there's no cornstarch.

In a nutshell, what I meant to say by my initial comparison was that if you're going to be egotistical, you'd better be able to back it up. Not with glamour or gimmicks, but with the actual material that [in theory] your career was built upon. I say "in theory" because there was once a time when the music mattered, but as you said nowadays it's more about the image. Which is unfortunate.

Yes exactly. Even though there are some nice ones, there are also lots of celebrities who have lost touch with reality and from what I hear, if they weren't famous and making tons of money, they would most likely be in a mental ward since many of them are legitimately psychotic.

Christian Bale's infamous rant comes to mind.

C. Thomas Howell has said that most Hollywood actresses are absolutely certifiable.

I like Marilyn Manson's music (The band) I love Mechanical Animals and I Love Holywood, Golden Age of Grotesque, I am a big big fan of their music, specially the lastest cds in his career, I Love Mechanical

but Manson sounds like S__t live, sounds really really bad,

awful...:rotfl

I'm of the opinion NIN followed in Ministry's footsteps.

NIN is like Ministry for kids, or a "PG 13" Ministry :rotfl:rotfl

Christian Bale's infamous rant comes to mind.

The DP kept changing the light during an intense scene.

Acting isn't hard...but if you want to do it well, you have to get into the character. And he was in the character, and some dude is changing the lights. It would get incredibly annoying after a while.

It's too bad that dumb movie put that on him. It was worthless in every way, and I wish it was erased from existence.

You can't really compare that. Though Bale should've handled it differently, his acting was being interfered with. It wasn't like the guy looked him in the eye and he got pissed off.

And at least he apologized to the guy.
