I thought the same thing, Mesa. But I saw some other pics of the painted version which showed the colors more brightly and less "dull". Those pics won me over. (They were at the Shadow and Flame forum.)

I think that this item needsto be in full living color, you will NOT be sorry either, this is one bad a$$ item.....I found 1 thing wrong with my Dio, the Eagles beak is dark, it got over spray from the coloring of the head, but this DOES NOT take away the overall beauty of the Dio...

maybe it's just me, but it seems like the truly epic scenes/battles/characters tend to look better in bronze. granted, it isn't real bronze, but faux will do quite nicely on this piece.

Don’t think so as it’s like watching the LOTR’s in black and white….:sick
This one piece needs and demands to be in full color…:horror
Especially Sideshows Faux Bronze, it needs dire help IMHO…..:sick

Maybe. I have the DoF and wish I never got it, because the original looks alot better IMO. It remindes me of when GG went chrome crazy with their busts. Spray Can EXs.

I canceled my EvsFB EX a while back. So congrats to whomever got it.

SSC is really having a hard time establishing their FB's it seams to me; there's not much positive critics for them. And that for a collectible with a very low ES (50-75 and 100). If the colored versions sell so well, I wonder why SSC has taken this step in the first place. I'm curious if we'll see more FB's from SSC in the future. Perhaps it was all just a ephemeral fashion gimmick...? Looks like one most really be into this FB thing to want them.

I think it depends on a variety of things. Mostly, how good the original (coloured) one is. In this case, the original looks outstanding from pictures (still waiting to get mine in hand!) so you have to ask what the FB version adds?? As has been mentioned before, the Balrog/Gandalf plaque is okay in colour but actually looks better (again from photos) in FB. The Escape plaque is gorgeous in FB and I cannot imagine it any other way. The Meeting of old friends plaque is poorly painted so might look better in FB. The format and subject matter are also important - it does seem to me that the plaques lend themselves to the FB effect more readily than the statues, but as I don't have any FB statues, again I'm only going off the photos...

so i have two of these coming my way and one is spoken for, but i can't decide if the other one is worth holding on to.

future grail?

Got a mail (again), telling me not to count on a wait-list conversion for the FB piece. But of course they have a 'similar' item I could buy from them... If I would be interested in that similar item, I'd already bought it! So, thanks, but NO thanks!

Yep! I got mine as well. I'll be curious to see how this compares to the regular version. It seems FB is a taste that some have and some don't though..

Ok . . .so what was the reason this took longer to release? Did someone corner the market recently for bronze paints??

Finally....now I can ship this out and collect the remainder of the $535 I pre-sold this for months ago
