re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Here's a little of my Spider-Man fan boy that needs to vent....

Okay, so Batman and Spider-Man have the best rouges galleries in all of comic-dom. DC was wise to keep those characters at the forefront of the Batman mythos and to slowly update their looks over time. 60's versions of the Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman and Joker are no where near what we see now in movies, cartoons and comics. the evolution has been steady but consistent. There's clear Silver age, Bronze, modern and heroic incarnations of all things Batman.

Spidey on the other hand never had his rouges updated in a clear, steady way. We all still think of the Green Goblin wearing a ridiculous mask and furystrom Coach murse. Sure, there's been other versions but there's been so many that we're no longer sure what is what. If Marvel's Batman is Spider-Man, and it is, they've failed to keep his supporting cast relevant and fresh, and that shows in the films.

That's a very good point... I tend to think of the classic looks for the villains and your explanation of why makes a lot of sense.

Jaime Foxx is Electro.

The Ultimate version:

Oh, ewwwww... don't really like that. But I can understand how the original look wouldn't translate too well. This look a bit too much like Dr. Manhattan :lol

FLOSI, those Chewie straps are cool. I bought the Thinkgeek lifesize one, which I keep meaning to use...

I think my Secret Santa recipient is effing with me on a few of their requests…

You must not have me. I'm easy like Sunday morning.

I was hating on Spiderman yesterday but that trailer is ****ing amazing. Kinda sad we are already getting Goblin again but hopefully that will be a few minutes at the end and he'll get away to lead in to a sequel.

Crazy we are seeing Rhino, Electro, Goblin, and hints at Vulture and Doc Oc already.

Nostromo Day:

Just a few quick thoughts and pictures…

I really didn't expect to stay even as long as I did at the Prop Store, but in the end I toured the main room and back storage room for about 45 minutes. I thought it would be a quick 15 minutes in and out. My tour guide, Matt Truex, requested that I not post any images from the main room to social media sites or otherwise. Apparently, they have a few items that some of the studios do not know have made their way out into the collector world. So my pictures should more or less be only of the Nostromo. Just one with me in it, and man did I get fat. I've got my entire winter coat on…

Just a very few items that widened my eyes.

1. The Nostromo - duh! I asked to touch it, and was obliged. I touched the Nostromo right on the nose!!!
2. A full sized Alien, which Matt said was used in theaters during the original release, but looked a lot like the recent HCG release. I didn't recall the use of Alien figures in theaters, but he would be the authority on this. So maybe the HCG is modeled after this piece. It has the same base, so…
3. The Duck that Indy drove in the most recent film. Although I thought it was Marion driving, but whatever. It had the broken out glass, which was clearly not glass.
4. An amazing piece, the bar from Raiders, which the liquor fire went down! Only about a five foot section, but it was most incredible.
5. What looked like many production sketches for Star Wars, and subsequent films. I could have rummaged in there all day.
6. The Predalien suit, only because it was so massive, and I couldn't imagine how anyone could wear the damn thing. It was heavy! Matt said one of the SFX guys wore it, and I was like, "Tom Woodruff?" And he was like, "Oh, you know stuff!"
7. A seat from the Cantina! I turned and saw it and was like, "That looks familiar." Matt says, "Oh, you've got quite the eye." It wasn't original, it had been recreated for a Doritos commercial or something.
8. Gremlins! Lots of Gremlins, which had been in a basement deteriorating for years. A few have been lacquered to preserve them from further deterioration.
9. Thunderball underwater personal sub thingy. Matt really liked that one!
10. Cameras used in the filming of ROTJ, and others, and one personally owned by Chaplin!

I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff. I didn't recognize 90% of what was back there, and honestly, I was there to see my holy grail, the Nostromo.

There's no way I could document this thing without a proper camera, and a lot of time, but I had to take a few quickies. Time for a massive diet overhaul...

Your picture is lacking Star Wars! It is a requirement for the holiday season! :thwak

Haha, do you have a Star Wars Christmas display Ken? Angie puts up My Little Pony stuff every year. Has a whole tree full of ornaments.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Yeah, it's a little worse for wear from years of outdoor abuse. But the restoration was done lovingly enough, and I still wanted to steal it. Maybe fly it home!

Confession. It's my favorite spacecraft from film, of all time.

Even better than the MF! :chase

Sounds like a great trip fury! Aside from the traffic that is.

Well... without going into too much unnecessary detail, I don't celebrate Christmas, so no. :monkey2
