re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

The Batboat has a really cool disk launching design that I've never seen on a set before. Those things fly! Way better than flick missles. :lecture

Oh man. So sad :monkey2

I remember looking over at him as I walked by thinking he didn't look well. Didn't think he'd die right after though. Peter Mayhew didn't look good either.

:lol @ Shropt. I love being able to read deleted posts.

Word :lol

Rainman.... I just can't see spending that much on a figure.

Same here, I've been tempted by a few; but luckily none have been must-haves. And even when I've been close reason has always won out.

Mayhew hasn't looked good for a while. I think that's a side effect of being that tall though also.

Yeah, Anton had me thinking about it, then the Pulp Fiction stuff really had me number crunching, but I'm sure I can get a Jules and Vincent in my collection at some point for far less that 800+ each.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

That's a lot of money for a 12-inch figure. Use that money and buy my Goon drawing. :rock

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Still, we're talking 500 or so after shipping, right?
The Vincent Vega painted head/outfit set (with suit, shoes, gun, watch) was $450, and I think shipping was around $30. The "dork" clothes were an extra $60 or so. Body not included. It is expensive, no doubt. But at a certain point most of what many of us collect is expensive. It's just a matter of how insanely expensive is too expensive (mass produced LEGO sets for $100 seem pretty dang expensive to me). Hot Toys figures are getting upwards of $200-300 a piece. Thinking of it that way, a great, handmade custom from a film that Hot Toys will never touch doesn't seem like such a bad deal anymore IMO. I thought Beto's Beeltejuice was overpriced (and perhaps it is), but is one of those worth 4 or 5 Hot Toys figure? Maybe so. . .maybe so. . .

I hang out almost exclusively in that section now, which is bad for my wallet :(

Anyway, don't want to derail your thread too much here. I know if it isn't Star Wars here, then it's CRAP!

That is the way I am turning, I am going straight for customs now.

Here is my work in progress Walter

Tyler, keep me updated should you find anything extra. I'd like to build a Walter too.... I was thinking of doing that outfit from the end of "Box Cutter" where he's wearing the Kenny Rogers T-shirt, white Levi's and red Converse... I love that episode.

That would an awesome custom. I will keep you posted if I find parts I can pass along. I am asking everyone and their mom for parts.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I started my own WTB thread, so we'll see if that helps.

I've really enjoyed trying to upgrade my figures as of late, like I did with Gandalf and Obi-Wan. There's a ton of potential in some older figures that can be brought out with some TLC.

I noticed at Comic-Con last year for the first time but he looked worse two weeks ago. I'd say that probably doesn't help.

Must resist turning this into a joke. :lol :wink1:

You make a good point. How we look at the cost of things. Personally, any 1:6th figure costing that much makes no sense to me and why I'm checking out. If I can get a statue from The Lord of the Rings for less or as much that to me is money better spent. Also, some figures now are nearing the half way point to say the Sauron PF ($900) or RWOS PF ($800). I have a hard time thinking a 1:6th figure is worth that but I do understand how others might. How we approach collecting is very interesting.
